  1. ^^Sorry Flipdude, I didn't realise you had already put up Orphan Rocker, everyone in Sydney is fascinated by it. I'd be up to Katoomba in a second if it ever did open. For those who are interested in the Orphan Rocker, here is a thread on an Australian site that has a lot of detailed info, go through all the pages, there is some especially interesting information from a user called "shotgun facelift": http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/index.php?showtopic=141&st=0&start=0
  2. ^Did you read my post? His family are the only one's who got to ride it, and as observed by others the photo states they are sitting in a stationary train. The rumours are this one will never pass a safety inspection.
  3. ^I wish Psychlone had a Wicker Man Theme as in setting it on fire many moons ago, how many vertebrae injuries could have been prevented. I'm in total agreeance that Terminator doesn't seem right for a wood coaster but, this project is still filed firmly in rumours so I guess we'll have to see.
  4. I got to ride the Chance Taboggan at Little Amerricka last year. Truth be it known I'm surprised you don't have to sign a waiver to ride any of the steel coasters at Little A. The Toboggan is interesting to look at but squeezing into that thing - I felt like I was the gimp in pulp fiction being squeezed back into his box (I'm 6'3" 200 lbs, so I'd hate to think how Robb and Casey the giant fared in it together). Here's the Orphan Rocker from Australia, this coaster was built in 1988 and has never opened to this day, there have been rumours about the safety of the ride, and I would say it would make many children orphans if it ever did open (I believe only the owners family members have ever ridden it - must have been trying to get the life insurance): http://www.rcdb.com/ig1870.htm
  5. Who knows maybe in Terminator Salvation, they send a Terminator back to the wild west to snuff out John Connors great, great, great, great, great, great grandmother.
  6. If Screamscape is anything to go by, it looks like GCI will be very busy boys in the near future. I would have preferred an Intamin Pre-fab, but a GCI will be a lot of fun, just not as extreme.
  7. FYI, according to the TPR Trip itinerary Behemoth will on the morning and night ERT sessions, which is what I would have expected.
  8. ^Maybe they give you the physically challenged discount in advance of becoming disabled as a result of riding Hellcat.
  9. ^No lost luggage, that's pretty good, I thought Charles De Gaulle and Heathrow airports were like black holes that the world's luggage just vanishes into. That Pax coaster looks outrageous.
  10. This is a good topic to raise, there are two types of jargon on Theme Park Review, general coaster jargon and acronyms and more stuff that is native to TPR. I believe there was some kind TPR Dictionary thead but I can't find it anymore. Hell, I used to think ERT was Early Ride Time.
  11. Nice TR, I really like your photos. I'll be hitting Clementon with the TPR East Coast tour so this was a great heads up. Maybe we'll get lucky and get the trims off for our ERT on Hellcat but I doubt it.
  12. To think I was watching him the day before this was announced in a nice little cameo as a hitch hiker in Jay and Slient Bob Strike Back ("Sure I'll take a shot in the mouth if it'll get my another couple of hundred miles across the country"). George was way cool, and funny.
  13. 100 Woody Woodpecker coaster at Universal Orlando 200 Teddy Bear at Strickers Grove
  14. C'mon the definitive answer to this question boils down to two words - bouncy bouncy. I don't even know what those things are called.
  15. What about the wild mouse The Fly (they do have low capacity), does that get big waits or is it unpopular? Also can the 3 kiddie credits get big waits?
  16. ^Shawn was on the midwest trip and was our official Matt Damon lookalike (in fact he may have even scored with Sarah Silverman in a case of mistaken identity), not to be confused with other Shawn on the midwest trip, who definietely would not be mistaken for Matt Damon. I'm thinking with ERT that the sessions will probably both have Behemoth in them, so that might mean five coasters in ERT, hopefully they won't double up on anything else. Just me speculating on that one, but it would seem logical to have Behemoth in both sessions. I'm expecting a real battle to get all the credits at CW, but I'll have a plan of attack.
  17. I rode both last year for the first time, I thought Son Of Beast was just meh, it wasn't exciting at all the roughness wasn't too bad though I rode it fairly defensively and kept my back off the seat. The Beast wasn't too exciting either, and unfortunately I only rode it on wheel seats so I got absolutely smashed after the second lift hill. I enjoyed the sensory experience of night rides but I didn't think much of the coaster itself. I would rate the Beast higher but not by much, neither really did it for me.
  18. Lemon chill guy says they are relocating The Blue Flash from that farm down the road, about time they got another steel coaster.
  19. Stan was one of the greats of modern FX & makeup, in the pantheon with Dick Smith, Rick Baker, Rob Bottin, Tom Savini and a few others I have forgotten right at this moment. The amazing thing is these guys didn't have textbooks, often they make things up as they go along to achieve what you see on the screen, just using sheer engenuity and resourcefulness. Next time I watch the Terminator, Alien, Jurassic Park or many other of the great films Stan worked on (The Extermintor maybe not so great), it will be with a touch of sadness. Stan really made our nightmares come true, on screen at least.
  20. Check this out: http://hotels.sixflags.com/1738_welcome.html Days Inn also has AAA discounts as well I believe.
  21. I think we just live in an increasingly intolerant, fractured & violent society where peoples reasoning skills seem to be at an all time low. If anyone disagrees with me I'll kick your ass, alright. Maybe the Mike Judge film Idiocracy will prove to be quite prophetic. They should start up Fight Clubs at some selected parks, not mentioning any names.
  22. As observed already in the thread, I don't think we can starting bagging out SF security until it is established it actually happened inside the park. I think metal detectors are a good thing, it means I can brawl at my favourite park safe in the knowledge that I won't have to worry about any of my opponents pulling out a gun, a knife, or a small chainsaw...though I'm a bit worried about those porcelain guns like in Die Hard 2. Cedar Point seems to have a very strong security presence, I think they are considered a police force, and have guns to boot if I remember correctly. Though they don't have metal detectors or at least didn't last year.
  23. ^You and me both, I wish the big rocket coasters had more to them after the launch and top hat like a series of airtime hills and some overbanks. But I guess they spent so much on what is there already, they weren't prepared to blow an extra $5-10 million on some more track doing something that has been done before on other coasters.
  24. Nice TR, you spotted a few things I didn't even see at the park when I was there last August - like all those statues, I only got a shot of the guy with the pig. Raven was great IMO, short but very sweet. Voyage was a good ride but it delivers a hell of a pounding in the turns out the back. It is such a long coaster, it took us a while to get to the end on our walk back on the TPR tour. Legend I wasn't too fussed about. I really hope to get back to Santa Claus Indiana some time, and maybe while I'm in Indiana I can stop by a certain beach.
