  1. Is this a joke...I know people complain about the restraints but I had no problem. Not even a little discomfort.
  2. Why the hate for Iron Dragon? Especially the person who said it was the worst coaster they have ever been on? Give me a break. It isn't meant to be very thrilling, but I thought it was fun, and made for those intimidated by CPs bigger rides. I thought Disaster Transport was good too.
  3. Depends what you want. Personally, walking around in a park like Cedar Point with rides all around is just as enjoyable as walking around in a less crowded; heavily themed park. The only parks I have been to outside of North America are Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, and Disneyland Paris Oh yeah, something else to add. Based on the pictures and trip reports from many of the Japanese and Chinese parks might have had nice theming but rides were seemingly sub-par. I am not really hugely into the extensive theming thing if it means sacrificing rides.
  4. 2 years ago on my trip to France I headed around a few diff countries and hit this park. I was very impressed.
  5. You summed my feelings up perfectly. Last time I went to CP (2003), I thought MF was the best coaster in the world, hands down. Of course, at that point my coaster count was around 50, and I hadn't ridden that many great coasters. My count is now 120, and I was seriously underwhelmed by MF. There are simply no forces after the drop and overbank. The only air hill that has any substance to it is the final one-the middle two deliver a mixture of floater and no airtime, while the helix and overbanks are boring and forceless. It's really just a "blah" ride that became popular/famous entirely because of its height and speed. In my own personal rankings, I would put Voyage, Goliath (SFoG and WW), Apollo's Chariot, and Maverick over MF in a heartbeat. Maverick, on the other hand, does not have the gimmick of great height and speed, forcing it to be a great coaster to gain any sort of recognition. Instead of a tall, fast, and forceless ride, Maverick delivers insane airtime, great whippy transitions, a very cool LSM lift and launch, and two inversions with great hangtime. Tack some decent theming on top of that, and it is certainly the best coaster at CP. Exact opposite of my feelings. I rank Maverick above MF, but Once my coaster count hit over 150+ I thought it would be average, based on TPR and such. This season it gave good airtime, and enough forces, but not too much. (if you read my other posts you will know I prefer low force coasters) Every hill I was out of my seat, and I am a solid 200 pounds, not some little munch kin. As far as steel in the United States, I put it only behind Maverick, S:ROS in SFNE, and DDragons Ice.
  6. Ok, lets learn something today! CAD: Computer Aided Design So technically, if they design it with a computer, the program is CAD. No, because if I make a flyer and print it with my computer is that CAD? Going by your definition it is. I am a computer geek so I know what CAD means.
  7. They don't design them in CAD I don't know exactly how it works, but they have their own programs in which they can enter desired force vectors and it produces the desired result. They then represent the ride in 3D through a CAD like program such as 3D VIP
  8. Ya, any good coaster in Kansas would be nice, I don't care if it is a clone.
  9. Ummmmmmm, this isn't 1930 nothing wrong with that. Glad I live a measly 3 hours away if I drive fast from Worlds of Fun, pretty good park, very underrated IMO. People complain about Patriot like many newer B&Ms that it lacks force. That makes it more fun to me.
  10. Zero-g rolls And Anything not forceful. I dislike forcefulness.
  11. You can tell this guy is a hater!!! To claim that not one CP coaster cracks the top ten, you are nuts!! Don't be jealous of CP. Actually its called "Getting out and riding other rides other than only visiting CP in your lifetime and realizing that majority of CP's rides are not that great" MF is a borefest compared to Maverick. Honestly, Id rank MF higher if all it did was go up the hill, come down, go through the overbank and end. You have a 101 coaster count...some of my favorite rides are at Cedar Point, and I have been to almost every major amusement park in US and the UK
  12. Heh, when I went a few weeks ago Cedar Point had perfect weather and perfect ride operations. Maverick broke down at night and that was really it. Maverick is my #1 steel, but then again I think Disaster Transport is a pretty darn fun ride as well. Wildcat is also underrated.
  13. Its not, I don't know how many times we have to say that for people to catch on.
  14. In 2009 I will still be living in Kansas, so I can see by then it could be a good park with a drop tower and new coaster. I see improvements from your pics already from my visit.
  15. It makes me giggle inside how much opinions can differ about different rides.
  16. My favorite park, and very unique pictures.
  17. That is strange, as it seems sometimes it has almost no power. Last Monday, Tuesday Mantis in the front was pretty darn smooth, much less head banging than everyone complains about. Also, I thought Wildcat, Disaster Transport, Iron Dragon are very underrated rides.
  18. I think you still need to be in the Joe Cool Club if you aren't staying at a Cedar Point owned hotel.
