Hey TPR! Last summer I was lucky enough to enjoy 5 days in Tokyo, after absorbing the best of Japanese culture and Yakitori I found myself with one extra day of culture before having to go to the airport in the evening to fly onwards. So what I did decide to do? Visit what some consider the world's GREATEST themepark. So what did I know about Tokyo DisneySea before I went? 1. It has incredible themeing, considered the best in the world. 2. It has fantastic ride operators, considered the best in the world. 3. It has an amazing selection of popcorns, considered the best in the world. You kind of get an idea... But is the hype really is true? Is it really the world's greatest themepark? Let's find out. First of all, how awesome are these themed handloops on the Monorail? Entering further in Mount Prometheus you really feel like you're entering a volcano Just about to board the Terravator a half mile down to the base station. Also, how popular is Duffy in Japan?! Unbelievable. I just loved the detailing here, could this be the world's best themed queue experience?? Even the effects inside the Terravator are totally awesome, it totally feels like you're going down a mineshaft! Into the base station to board your mine vehicle Which look totally badass by the way. I tried to get another photo but the queue moved too fast! So what was the ride like? It was fun not intense but fun, think TestTrack, underground, with a Lava Monster and you got it, definitely re-ridable. Is this level of themeing needed? No, but is it totally awesome? YES. So next up is 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and again, it has a beautiful queue If I recall, someone told me 157 stands part of co-ordinates within the story, amazing attention to detail. So I was told that you want to get to Tokyo Disney early, I mean real early... this is around 7.30am Oh Disney, you really struck gold with how beautiful everything is.. Hello Submarine, how ya doing! Sorry, I'm not Robb.. Ahem. Did I also mention how amazing the Japanese are at Queuing? I went for a drink in the fountain and the couple behind me just stopped and waved me back in! Did I say how beautiful this park is? Because, it is STUNNING. So, today it was Busy I mean... seriously busy. This was the queue for Toy Story Mania Fastpasses! Also, spot the Duffy. He's everywhere! And this is queue that was already in front of me... On your marks, get set, go! I love the fear of the left Disney Castmember First up, running... I mean, walking to The Journey To The Centre Of the Earth for Fastpasses for later and a ride for now! Yes, there's a ride hidden in there... LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL IT IS. LOOK AT THE THEMING. LOOK AT IT. For all you sign nerds out there Even the queue is incredible, suck it Six Flags! I didn't think my Disney experience would need so much running about... Hello Hightower! Oh p.s. those people are waiting for a parade in like 2 hours time... the Japanese LOVE parades. Is this the best tower of them all? It could just be (Duffy alert!) It's nothing like any other Tower of Terror and for that I love it and little Shiriki is the reason why I love this experience so much Creepy little thing, I still don't understand the effects in this room, it blows my mind! Oh look, we're at Revenge of the mummy now, nahh kidding. By the way, this tower is brilliant, not as intense as WDW but, I liked the different ride sequence. How is this a restaurant? I mean really.. wow Looking out to the New York harbour, now all I need is a bagel and someone to argue with now The boat sets sail in 30 minutes guys! Is it weird I kind of feel at home here? I mean really, it's kind of homely. Now I crave popcorn and mmmm it was good. Had Strawberry and then later curry. Mmmm Going over to Lost Delta River Magic castle, I can see you! Time to be adventurers and ride Indiana Jones. All together now! Bum bum buum, dum dum darrh. No? Just me then.. This ride... ROCKED. I rode it 4 times, if anything just for the reactions of my fellow riders, our Japanese cousins are so funny! Aquatopia is down?? Nooooooooooooooo! GRR I'M A BIG GREEN GUY. GIMME ALL YOUR CANDY. That whale looks like it's had some seriously messed up life experiences Sin-bad? No Sin-good! I dunno. I'm rubbish at captions. Now not so easy but, spot the Duffy! He is there, I promise wearing a white hat. Oh man, I do love a good carousel Especially when you can ride a genie or a flying carpet This counts as a credit, right? Mermaids live here Hey Ariel which way do we go? That way? Okay. Sure. This place is just so cute. Perfect for little ones The teacups especially looked a blast. Note the mid action seflie taking too. Hello good tower again! How ya doing! Okay, I couldn't help it, I had ANOTHER ride. My 4th for the day. I also met some lovely people in the queue, Ayaka, if you're reading this, konichiwa my friend! Last up was the Big Beat Show, a really fun broadway style show. Big winner for me and a wonderful way to sign off the night So there you go, Disney TokyoSea in all it's glory. Is it the worlds greatest themepark? I might just be, but I'll let you work that out in the comments! I then had to run off to the aiport and board my flight home. What a day! Sayōnara - Seee you!

Smoothest Coaster You've Ridden?
eddytheviper replied to TheDark8's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
+1 for Kraken at SWO. That thing just glides around, unbelievable. -
This is going to sound stupid but, smokers and going to smoke. If catered for or not, either way. so it makes sense for parks to make concessions if it helps to 'protect' other patrons by preventing smoking in lines etc. I think well structured smoking areas and zoned off places can eradicate 90% of the problems that could happen but it takes planning. One place that I find a little strange to have a poorly placed smoking area is the 'round the back' walkway at WDW MK between Space Mountain and Barnstormer. You pretty much have to walk through the smoking zone on that walkway, slightly odd IMO.

Crazy Twists?
eddytheviper replied to gerstlaueringvar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Although I couldn't find any good photos on RDCB, that last 1/3rd of White Lightning at FunSpot Orlando is seriously twisty! It has such a wonderful flow from side to side and amazing airtime! -
I can see the arguments for both sides here but, it annoys me how he's not paying for these 'privileges' that, any other Single rider (Like myself) would kill for. I actually met someone similar at USO last season; he was a guy who said he had rode HRRR many thousands of times and used to go a few times a week after work. I realize the single rider line isn't the same as Xcelerator's but, this guy would just ride, get off, click his counter on his wrist and join the damn queue again. What's so hard about that?

Photo TR: Edd's Park Adventures
eddytheviper replied to eddytheviper's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Welcome to part two of our rushed day, apologies in advance for the lack of photos of this park but, we really had to rush it and we didn't think much about taking photos for the TR After a short hop across the plaza, we enter Walt Disney Studios. Note the, Earffel Tower in the back (Yes, it really is called that). I quite like entering via the studio actually, it's kind of neat. It's an condensed indoors version of Orlando's street, see which parts you recognize? Hello French Tower Of Terror I love, LOVE this ride. Now for several photos of the queue... Whilst it's only a pre-preshow room, LOOK at the detailing! Suck it Six Flags! After the pre-show we enter the famous boiler-room. Which, might I add, is more visually impressive than it's sister in Disneyworld. And this is where my friend began to freakout. I gave her a brief of what to expect but, I was wrong... didn't actually know it had a completely different sequence. She was not happy with me. We were at the end of a huge group through the pre-show room so, although we had a long wait, there was no-one behind us... Hello switchbacks, how ya doing? After TOT, we took a long walk around the park trying to get on other rides, Crush Coaster, RC Racer etc, we unfortunately gave up as they were posting + 1Hour waits and we didn't have the time for it. We eventually decided to endure the 45 minutes wait (In reality over an hour) for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (Which, was okay but not very memorable for me) then called it a day to go home at 4pm! Thanks for reading! -
Hello all! Welcome to a thread with a mish-mash of photo TR's, maybe some trivia you may not have known and some terrible jokes in the captions... sorry about that. First of all, we travel back in time to summer 2013 at Disneyland Paris way back on a semi-busy Sunday in July. If I am going to be honest, I wasn't expecting great things from the park. All reports online pointed to experiencing an unloved Disney park with bad staff, queue jumping GP and an below par experience but actually, it wasn't so bad. Myself and my French speaking friend arrived Sunday morning for 10am opening and had 3/4 of a day to cover most of both parks, the race was on... *Insert this castle is bigger than California's joke here* So, as we arrived at the train station and read "Bienvenue à Disneyland Paris!" I couldn't help but translate it to.. Yeah, Mini Disney... Good luck to us... But actually, it wasn't as bad a day as I had worried it might be. Woo-hoo... Time for yet another dark ride! Might change this thread name to Dark Ride: The park. Wait... what? This is just the trippiest idea for a boat ride ever. Without the brainwashing happy music... this would cause some serious nightmares. Time for another coaster, luckily, unlike Indie, this ride kicked some serious ass. Dare I say even better than it's older sibling ol' big white at WDW. Also, IMO, this has got to be the prettiest Space Mountain exterior I've seen. I mean come on, this attention to detail really is special. I'm sorry WDW but, you've got nothing on this. Another dark ride? Yes please. Official TPR Haunted Mansion lover here. I had one shot at this photo, It's not bad. But it's no Hockeyman55 photo. Time to exhaust the urh, less than expansive coaster collection here with another classic. Big Thunder Mountain did not disappoint, good fun, forceful. I also liked how it was set on the water but my god, that chain lift is deafeningly loud. Sort it out DLP, please! Some nice theming inside the castle itself. Again, bits that I wish WDW had. The dragon downstairs is a real nice touch. Shame I didn't have my tripod to take a photo of it though, was just too darn dark. Anyway, short but sweet part to this TR, after rushing around the park since 9am opening, we had managed to hit most of the big attractions at the park by 12.30am... not bad going aye? Next stop, next door at the studios! Part 2 coming soon! Second stop of the day... Pirates Of The Caribbean. I forgot to take a photo of India Jones, oops. I'm a bad TR'er, please forgive me. This part of the ride STILL makes me laugh, doesn't matter where I am in the world, it's still brilliant. Wenches, gold, guns and some story line? What's more to like from this dark ride?? This park is just so cute and tiny *Pats it on the head* Oh yeah, MORE GOLD. AND DRUNK PIGS. I think they should be an essential part of any dark ride. DRUNK PIGS ARE AWESOME.

What are some loud rides and coasters?
eddytheviper replied to JFrombaugh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For the ones I've been on, ones that stick out from memory are: Kumba Hulk - Gotta love the roars though. Revenge Of The Mummy - USF (Some of the scenes are WAY too loud) Dinosaur - Again, why so loud? -
Long time lurker on your threads but, I just want to say how fantastic it is to see all these events from your eyes going to them all. Tomorrowland is THE festival I've want to go to for years but never got the chance, good job getting tickets! Someday, someday it will happen! Keep up the good work buddy, I love reading your threads. Party on

Roller coaster technology: 'Bigger! Faster! Scarier!' www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24553630 P.S. I know it's long but, it's an interesting read. So, there you have it... it's certainly an interesting opinion of the future. Now I put it to you, do you think we've reached the peak of coaster extremes or... do you believe coaster design and the concept of roller coasters will now have to evolve for new thrills? What do you believe is next?

^ It's pretty dated IMO, some neat games / simulators but it's seen better days... There were whole sections closed off last time I went... (many many a moon ago) but I know they've repainted the outside so it could be getting some new love again. Personally, I wouldn't prioritize it over anything else... but, if you have some time to kill in Downtown Disney, then give it a quick look, just don't expect to stay more than an hour really.

Fun Spot America Discussion Thread
eddytheviper replied to jedimaster1227's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After seeing every little step of progress, I am actually most looking forward to the Funspot expansion over Seaworld's unfortunate flop and Universals unoriginal Transformers ride. Great job Funspot, it looks HUGE! -
Unnecessary Queuing Lines
eddytheviper replied to palmerleeberry's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
which ride are you referring to about at Seaworld? I think it might be Kraken, since the line wraps around all the decorations. ... *Face palm* Yep, I meant Kraken. I seemed to have totally had a blanked out whilst writing that post and failed to mention the name, congrats to me, apologies. -
Unnecessary Queuing Lines
eddytheviper replied to palmerleeberry's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can't say I've ever seen Seaworld Orlando have a full queue line, max wait about 1hr and half at Christmas one time. I know you can't shorten the queue as it snakes through the building but, it just seems never ending walking around these empty switchbacks and there's no shortcut around it all. Bleurgh. -
Trust me, it really is as painful as everyone's saying, Both Lion and Tiger were headache inducing but sometimes it was just unbearable. I can only hope Gwazi will be turning into firewood sometime soon, theres no way they'll be relocating it. It is however completely totally feasible that the trains could go up to BGW, it's a great candidate for a twisty GCI coaster. Luckily this time it shouldn't be so susceptible to deterioration from the humidity, heat and hurricanes and we might have something enjoyable this time round!

Alton Towers Discussion Thread
eddytheviper replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Merlin really are ramping up their advertising here. They are running a massive promotion through the Sun newspaper giving away... free tickets? There must be a catch, truth being told I was late for work so didn't look thoroughly into it. Also, just noticing the actual photo here, not the OTSRs? Such conflicting messages, do we have a definate either scoop whether we will have lap bars or not? Either way... B&M OSTRs? Really? Oh I do love the generic nature of coaster promo photos. When in doubt, use B&M restraints ha -
It's really not worth my time arguing against you all, as I know it will be futile but, just do your research before you rip into the guy. I've been a fan of the woo for years, he means no harm; he got caught up with some other Disney 'urbexer' (Who I must add DOES push it a bit too far but also has been handed out a trespass warrant) and got in trouble for it for it, fair enough he got punished but, it's just a shame when he is a true fan of the Disney to be banned for LIFE, years would fair enough to learn a lesson but Jeez, seems a little too heavy handed. I'm not arguing over the merits / demerits of the decision as it's been done and gone, but, all I need to say is just find out the whole story before you start flaming on the guy.. By the way, do watch the whole video to see his side of the story, it is a genuinely interesting input, even if you don't agree with him. Anyway, end of my input to this issue, I'm not getting into an argument over this all, TPR is known for it's peace and harmony compared to other sites so, I'm not going to get embroiled into a discussion that will change that. Cheers.
