  1. I spoke to the park manager when I was there - he spotted me taking photos and wondered why - and that's what he told me. The plan is for the whole ride to be painted in a black and yellow scheme.
  2. I can't say I'm surprised. I rode it on Saturday and it did its very best to kill me. Trip report here: http://www.bannister.org/coasters/trips/2010/0731.htm
  3. Unless of course you happen to live in the flight path of an airport Seriously though, I'm guessing all other rides of this type will be shut down now until the investigation is complete, and if/when they reopen they will probably be safer for whatever issue is found. You can be absolutely certain that groups such as the TUV will not allow operation without full compliance with any and all safety recommendations that may arise.
  4. Also, is there any specific proof that this is a B&M ride? The Gardaland page doesn't list a manufacturer.
  5. Genting's coasters are fairly putrid right enough, but they're made up for by Cosmo's World and Sunway. Malaysia is cool, an easy long weekend trip from Europe
  6. Might someone have pointed a radar gun at it? Just a thought...
  7. Noted. Perhaps in the non-existent time-abundant future it might be possible to cater for both worlds via multiple language soundtracks. Clearly there are A/V syncing issues with that, and it's probably more trouble than it's worth considering the number of people who'd appreciate it - but just throwing the idea out there. Perhaps a third language could include some of your musical selections......and now I'll stop suggesting things that triple your workload ...seriously, keep up the good work. I see the Blu-Rays becoming a valuable historical record in a few decades when all the rides therein have become scrap metal. That's assuming of course that there's any Blu-Ray playback equipment that survives the forthcoming Apocalypse!
  8. No offense intended. My comments are intended as constructive feedback; for me an ideal "raw coasters" dvd would have nothing interrupting the clatter of a wood coaster and the rush of wind. But I'm weird like that
  9. Just watched a bit of footage from this. Superb stuff. Only comment I would have is that non-stop "whoah! whoooah! whoah!" gets very irritating after a few minutes. Forget which coaster it was on now, but I ended up jumping to the next track (pun intended) to avoid. 10/10 otherwise though
  10. #1500 - Blue Flash (John Ivers)
  11. I think it's a cool ride. The lighting effects are something that'd look good on any coaster IMHO.
  12. It's a shame that this is a moving target...
  13. Yeah, I know... it took me a few years to get the hang of composing my shots properly. Practice makes perfect.
  14. It probably should. My apologies to any Canadians I've offended Honestly, I don't think I've ever gotten to a park with a B&M that hasn't been operating, which is a testament to the reliability of their hardware. Planning a coaster trip to Kuwait was one of the more interesting journeys though! I tell you what Mike; I'll do that provided you complete all fifty-plus Boomerangs first? Honestly, I've no idea. I'd guess I'm close to a few; Morgan springs to mind, as does Custom Coasters Inc. I'll see if I can manage a follow up TR at some point, though honestly I'm not sure it's going to be worth it insofar as there are nothing like as many... I think Nemesis still has the overall edge to be honest; it just shows what can be done with a bit of imagination. Crystal Wings is well up there, though.
  15. The latter can be found here. I've not posted my pictures from Janfusun mainly because the weather was pretty lousy, and thus the pictures mostly look horrible. I might see if I can touch them up a bit at some stage.
  16. After several years of visiting parks around the world I've finally (as of this afternoon) completed the set of all seventy-five coasters built to date by Bolliger & Mabillard. This is not something I expect to be able to claim for long, given that there's a new ride under construction at the moment in China, but it's still a fun statistic for a few weeks. To mark this triumph of credit whoring I thought it might be fun to post a photo essay documenting the full set, which spans eleven countries (China, Denmark, England, Italy, Germany, Japan, Kuwait, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, and the United States). All pictures are my own. Rides marked with a * are no longer operating in the location where I took the picture. Numbers are from the list of coasters I've been on. 0023: Raptor (Cedar Point) 0025: Dominator * (Geauga Lake) 0071: Oblivion (Alton Towers) 0075: Nemesis (Alton Towers) 0076: Air (Alton Towers) 0102: Raging Bull (Six Flags Great America) 0106: Iron Wolf (Six Flags Great America) 0108: Batman the Ride (Six Flags Great America) 0114: Mantis (Cedar Point) 0115: Nemesis Inferno (Thorpe Park) 0125: Superman Krypton Coaster (Six Flags Fiesta Texas) 0135: Batman the Ride (Six Flags Over Texas) 0150: Batman the Ride (Six Flags St Louis) 0159: Chang * (Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom) 0171: Apollo's Chariot (Busch Gardens Europe) 0174: Alpengeist (Busch Gardens Europe) 0192: Vortex (Carowinds) 0197: Afterburn (Carowinds) 0205: Dragon Khan (Port Aventura) 0217: Superman - La Atraccion de Acero (Parque Warner Madrid) 0218: Batman la Fuga (Parque Warner Madrid) 0235: Daemonen (Tivoli Gardens) 0260: Riddler's Revenge (Six Flags Magic Mountain) 0261: Batman the Ride (Six Flags Magic Mountain) 0262: Scream! 17. Um, it costs me less to fly to the UAE than it does to fly to Orlando. The world is a big place
  18. Aargh. Three weeks after I'm in Abu Dhabi. Sigh.
  19. Don't get me started on Ticketmaster. I'm a fairly regular visitor to New York, and I like to go to broadway shows while there. Ticketmaster has the nerve to charge me a "box office collection fee" - it's impossible for me to do print at home with an Irish credit card - and they say that I must collect an hour before the show or my tickets can be sold on. In short, I end up having to turn up at the venue an hour early and get charged for the privilege. These days I only go to Telecharge.com shows - which allow print at home for international users.
  20. I think a better question might be... What park *shouldn't* have an Intamin Mega-LIte? I can't think of one. Mega-Lites FTW.
  21. Thanks for this TR, much appreciated.
