  1. From experience (!) that particular Wacky Worm is children only anyway.
  2. The parks are open all year round. As a result, rides have to be shut down for rehab from time to time. Martin was just slightly unfortunate in that a couple of the majors were down for his visit.
  3. I'm there in about two weeks time, and will update with what I find.
  4. Erm, no I didn't. It was down on my first visit due to Typhoon Sinlaku (reasonable) but would have been operational otherwise. The ride I've missed twice is Screaming Condor at Leofoo Village.
  5. Yeah, I've been twice. The first time we missed three credits (as you did); Screaming Condor, Gravity Max, and the Cavazza Diego heap in Shangrila. The latter two were due to rather unfortunate timing, which also gave me an extra day in country... Roller Coaster Typhoon The second visit was a two day trip on the way to the China attempting to fill in those blanks, as well as hit the newly discovered Atayal Resort. That trip was fairly successful (Screaming Condor notwithstanding), mostly because Gravity Max proved to be everything I'd hoped for (and more). It's a real shame that more installations of that tilt design don't exist; it's an incredible experience. I'm hoping that it'll be third time lucky; I'm heading back there, again for two days, and with luck I'll get the Screaming Condor credit this time (in addition to E-DA World, TCRC Wenshan Park, and Bada Forest).
  6. How would you rate Screaming Condor against the other impulse coasters? I've been there twice and it has been down both times
  7. Not really. I managed to load Taiwan maps onto my existing Garmin, and you're right, they were in Chinese. However I had exact locations for the parks pre-entered via latitude/longitude coordinates and the GPS was sufficient to give me "turn left" and "turn right"
  8. ^^^ That's a European Coaster Club lanyard. For what it's worth, I'd agree that the drive to Hualien is a distinctly bad idea. When we went there we drove, and there's no way in hell I'd go through that again, even for a park as beautiful as Farglory. Domestic flights are definitely the way to go. Also, though Hualien is theoretically sixty kilometers from Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, it is a five hour drive. You have been warned.
  9. I'm all in favour of lap bars, but I don't find the ones on Teststrecke to be anything like as comfortable as those in Schwarzkopf cars.
  10. Sure - Visually the train isn't bad, but the new restraint design is nothing like as comfortable as the old Schwarzkopf lap bars. I'd love to see Olympia Looping run with those...
  11. Yeah, 'tis a real shame right enough. How many SBNO woodies does that leave us with now? I can think of five from memory; DBH, OzCat, MegaZeph, Screechin' Eagle, and Son of Beast -- though the latter can stay SBNO forever as far as I'm concerned...
  12. Damn. I guess I will have to go to Fuji-Queue again. Such a waste of good Japan time...
  13. I'd have less of a problem with it if there was a practical alternative; in the UK for example you can get to quite a lot of the major parks via public transport without difficulty. I have managed to get to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom by boat/bus, but that's the only example in the USA that I can think of...
  14. Oh god no, those trains are hideous! Olympia Looping is a superb ride that deserves far better. Lap bars would be great, but keep the Schwarzkopf rolling stock thanks.
  15. This one? http://www.rcdb.com/4168.htm
  16. It looks like Elissa has already been on this -- at least if the official footage of the ride is anything to go by* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fulHu9_DRa4 (*) Yes, I know it's the one at Grona Lund...
  17. Looks like I was right. Rotary Coaster looks like a Ferris Wheel to me, so I guess Crazy Car is another wooden wild mouse. The twenty-four million rupiah question is where it came from...

  19. Too many. (41 at last count).
  20. Judging by the teasing I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you've found two in Indonesia.
  21. Ah now, please don't sully the good name of the Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter by lumping that godawful heap of junk in the same category. Cool & Fresh was by all accounts diabolical/awful when it operated in this part of the world, but then there's quite a tradition of Europeans shipping their undesirables to Australia...
  22. The feeling of speed you get and the general sensations (after the end of the launch) match Millennium Force rather closely. If you're a fan of that ride (and I am) then you'll enjoy Formula Rossa.
  23. Several - - Titan at Six Flags Over Texas - Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain - Anaconda at Gold Reef City
  24. Haha, that never even occurred to me...
  25. Wish I could be there. I love Australia.
