  1. Blue Fire is right at the top of the list of all the coasters I've been on in Europe. It really is that good.
  2. Bollocks! I'm going to be driving past on the 28th. What miserable sodding luck!
  3. Given that the ride is now being tested do we have any further leads as to opening date?
  4. Belantis isn't at all far from Forellenhof Plohn, home to Europe's newest wood coaster. I'm doing both this weekend
  5. Indeed. The real El Toro can be found in Geroland park in Egypt! The Real El Toro!
  6. Have we got any concrete information about an opening date? I'll be in the area in the last week of May but don't plan to stop unless there's a reasonable probability that the coaster will be open.
  7. Yeah, that's not at all fun when something like that happens. We had a near miss on the ZL42 in Cairo where the train shot through the block brakes, and impact was only averted by a quick thinking ride operator who grabbed the train. Frankly I'm amazed he was able to stop it, but he managed it...
  8. Ironically it was on my list for this year too. Oh well... I had the opportunity to go to LeSourdsville Lake before it closed, but I went to PKI instead. I had the opportunity to do this one a few years ago too, but I chose Indiana Beach. Sods law...
  9. They were all open. The only thing we rode however was the coaster.
  10. This particular mouse design has a single lap bar per row of seats. For this reason anyone sitting in the middle has the benefit of the bar between their legs and thus will be as secure as either of the two people on the edges.
  11. I dunno, I've seen five in those cars on the German fair circuit too. I think weight probably matters more to be honest; those in the middle have a lap bar holding them in just as well as those on the edge...
  12. As some of you may know, three crazy enthusiasts have just returned from a long weekend break in Egypt, during which we visited all the known roller coasters in the country. I've just finished uploading almost one hundred and fifty pictures from the parks to my site. Direct links are: Cairo Land Dream Park Fantazy Land Geroland Koki Park Magic Galaxy Magic Land Sindbad Amusement Park Wonderland I've also attached a few shots here to whet people's appetites. Yup, they've got Roller Skaters in Egypt Riding a Wacky Worm in the shadow of the Giza Pyramids Keeping capacity high on the Wild Mouse at Magic Land
  13. I'm preparing just under one hundred and fifty photographs of nine Egyptian parks for my web site, and while I'm not finished yet, attached is a preview of the Fantazy Land page. As this should hopefully show, the park is actually pretty nice; its only major problem is a lack of funds, but they clearly do what they can. Will be online in a few days
  14. Excellent. I've been waiting for an excuse to go to Switzerland, and this looks like it might be one
  15. As I said in my post, it's a low budget affair and clearly so. However, either the original poster was selective about the pictures posted or it has improved significantly over the last few years; I'm inclined to believe the latter. There isn't a lot of money in this part of the world, but we got a definite sense that the park was trying to make the very best of what little they have.
  16. Right folks, I was at Fantazy Land today. First off, the park is nowhere near as ghetto as the photographs from the original poster would have you believe. My instinct is that they've made a major effort to clean the place up over the last few years. It's still a low budget affair, don't get me wrong, but it was certainly not the worst in Egypt; more to follow on that one. The lagoon area appears to be history, FWIW - we saw the remnants of a pirate ship and a general boneyard off to one side in a closed off area. The remainder of the park, however - though perhaps lacking in a little paint - was actually not bad at all. The staff were extremely friendly, and helpful - and they let us ride the coaster, despite it normally being for children only. The park was largely deserted today; we got the definite sense that had it been busy this would not have been allowed. I feel obliged to note this in case anyone else is enough of a credit whore to make the six hour round trip from Cairo! More pictures will follow when I've had a chance to sort them, but for now, just the one: Yes, we really did make it there.
  17. I might have dropped down myself, but I'll actually be in Forellenhof Plohn that day...
  18. You should consider doing Tivoli World while you're in Malaga. I've only seen it from outside but it looks like a nice park...
  19. I'm actually expecting to be there next Sunday - so I'll post an updated photo TR shortly afterwards
  20. They're pretty scary. I've done the two existing ones, and while I've enjoyed them they've certainly got a higher "oh-shit" factor than any other coaster I've done of late.
  21. I'm going to be there in May and will review it at that point, though from the video I'd call it a straight clone of Gsengte Sau.
  22. Mine are up at http://www.themeparks.ie/.
  23. Breaking the habit of a lifetime... After the reconstruction somewhere near Guangzhou...
  24. Crikey, it looks like all the hoons have jumped off the barbie this morning... streuth!
  25. Aye, Merimbula is pretty small okay, but the bobsled down the side of the mountain is worth the trip alone! It's ridiculously long, maybe four times the length of the one at Oakwood?
