Schwarzkopf Looping Star for Ireland
Noxegon replied to Noxegon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
On the other end of the spectrum is the Galaxyland Mindbender, which is positively brutal to ride thanks to the accordion restraints... -

If anyone is planning on making the trip from another country, you might PM me; I'm trying to put together a group trip for the weekend of the 11th-13th January and have eight confirmed attendees so far. -

They bought it. It's just under thirty years old, having originally been built for Frezeitpark Kirchhorst in Germany. It most recently operated at Luneur in Italy. -

Not sure at the moment... next years agenda is still somewhat up in the air, other than TPR China, which is confirmed. For what it's worth, although I've got over #1100 credits to my name I've still got two continents I've yet to start on.... -

The water stops as the train approaches. Initially I thought it might be there for decoration but in reality I think it may be there to stop the trench filling up with sand. -
I enjoyed the DVD, not least because my ankles appear in quite a large amount of the Phaethon footage - with the rest of me making a special guest appearance for a few seconds It's great to get a DVD like this that lets me remember what a coaster was like - I'm watching the Sheikra footage as I type this...

I seem to recall that Lebanon will not allow Israeli passport holders into the country anyway even if you wanted to visit. -

The advice from the Irish department of foreign affairs is that unessential travel to Lebanon should be avoided, but that Kuwait is fine. -

I have a few, but they're not great unfortunately. Dust in the air was a big problem for pictures. Oasis Express is a nice ride to be sure, though it's rather gentle by usual Schwarzkopf standards... -

Yup, that's what the park told us; it developed a technical issue two years ago that maintenance have yet to fix. -
Your Craziest Trip?
Noxegon replied to sixflagsguy5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think I might win this with my 2005 trip to South Africa. Thursday night, take fourteen hour flight to Cape Town. Friday morning, do Ratanga Junction. Friday evening, take one hour flight to Johannesburg. Saturday all day, do Gold Reef City. Sunday morning, visit Gold Reef City again. Thirteen hour flight back from Johannesburg on Sunday night, then straight into work on Monday morning! An honourable mention needs to go to my experience riding Voyage. On a coaster trip through the USA, we finished Worlds of Fun early. The next scheduled park (and indeed hotel) was Silver Dollar City. With a day to kill in the middle, we decided to go to Beech Bend and Holiday World to ride Voyage. We drove. -
I've just added a large number of photographs of Kuwaiti theme parks to my web site. Direct links: Al-Sha'ab Leisure Park Entertainment City Kuwait Magic Hawally Park I've also posted trip reports here. If anyone wants to try to recreate this trip I'll do my best to help them out.

Hypersonic XLC vs. Dodonpa
Noxegon replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's funny, I'm of the opposite view; I love both rides for what they are. They're not perfect, with a turning ability that closely resembles a shopping trolley with a bad wheel. However, the launch is amazing, particularly on Dodonpa, and that made the ride for me. Robb's comment on Powder Keg is right on the money though; that ride is simply awesome. If only we could have something with the launch of Dodonpa and the trains of Powder Keg...well, I can dream -

Choose thy fate... Gardaland 2008
Noxegon replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ah, so it wasn't just me. Glad to see I'm not the only one horrified at the thought of having to back to Gardaland again... -
Robb, I really hope you've got your ride list in a database. If not, you've got way too much time on your hands I just wrote a bit of code to output the relevant data from my list...
