Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
Pufferfish replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love it! It looks so awesome, makes me want to take a trip up there next year. The new trains are weird, what's the point in the design? It halves the max capacity. -
ThemePark's Music
Pufferfish replied to hazzaman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Carowinds has music playing constantly, but it gets very repetitive. There is only so many times a person can hear Love Shack and Toxic before going crazy and slamming their head against a brick wall. -
Too many people with too much spare time
Pufferfish replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, was there even any empty spaces in that wave pool? I felt claustrophobic just watching that. -
Ok, this is my first TR, so hang with me. Also, my camera isn't the highest of quality so some of the pictures may seem blurry and distorted. I decided that I should go spend my last day of summer vacation at Carowinds. I got there at 9:50 and used my season pass to duck the rope. I immediately grabbed a locker for the first ride of the day on Borg. I know, smart, right? It amazingly didn't break down, and it gave a pretty good ride, no headache. Then, to pass off time until my friend Ben was supposed to meet me, I pretty much got ERT on everything. This is one of the best days I ever came to this park. I fist rode vortex. The ride ops actually worked fast for a change so i was on and off in 15 minutes. Then, I went and rode Cyclone twice, once in the front, once in the back. After that I hit Drop Zone for a couple of rides. Then I went and rode Top Gun, front seat. By this time, one hour had passed since I got there and Ben had arrived at the park. Poor Ben got stuck with his little brother, who me and him ended up babysitting until 2:00. Well, I know this is very boring and nobody reads anymore, so I just have one more thing to say. Thunder road is open again, front only, and the refurb did it well. It is much smoother than it has been in the past. Well, now photos. This is the only problem I have with it still. Get better trains! You have to be tiny to fit in with the lap bar down where it needs to be. Train full of happy people returning to the station. I'm glad that it has been fixed. I was missing my third favorite coaster at the park. You can tell where they worked when you ride it. They replaced the entire support structure on the turnaround. Now, the moment you've been waiting for. Thunder Road! We all credit whore a little bit, but truly, this is one insane junior woodie. Sit in the back and see what I mean. Now this is how i like my days. Also, bad camera, or did I find the bionic woman? Guess what's next? I like Frenzoid in its new location. You can finally tell it's there. (Yes I called it Frenzoid on purpose. Southern Star isn't that cool of a name, especially not for an Intamin) Time for the awesomeness that is an Arrow. My second favorite coaster in the park. Sit either in the front or back seat. In the front, you get ejector air going into the turn over the midway, and in the back you get nice floater air on the first drop. I took this picture like this to try to make it look bigger, but it didn't work. Oh, well. At least it's still fun. hooray Intamin drop towers! Woohoo, Jackhammer: The Ride. The Hurler is actually more tolerable in the back though, and the airtime makes up for the jackhammering. Sorry, don't think that inflamed ears are fun. Your big brother behind you gave me enough of a headache after two consecutive rides. Ben's little brother sat on the inside his first time, and thought the Borg was fun. Line was so short, didn't even leave the station to get back on again. Me and Grant switched places, he didn't think it was fun. I'm the Borg. I'm big, green, mediocre, and painful. In other words, I'm a Vekoma who the park thought they could pass off as being new by just painting over the old paint job.

Wow, this is sad. It just proves that no matter how safe we make something, human stupidity makes it seem like all that work was just a waist of time. -
TPR 2008 Trips! Download the flyers here!
Pufferfish replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Y'all need to come further down south on the East Coast trip. I was actually hoping that this was going to be a trip that I could join on, but my idea of this trip doesn't take you down through here. I was hoping that with the opening of Hard rock Park you would, oh well. Maybe some other year. -
Cora's Midwest Sketchbook TR!

This is such a great twist on a standard tr! I laughed so hard at some of your drawings. I think that your drawings show better the inner workings of TPR, shows the different sides to people. The sides you normally don't see in the pictures. Great job. Wish I could draw that good. -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Pufferfish replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When I was in WDW earlier this summer, I heard a great rumor that there might be a new park on the way within the next 3 or 4 years. Speculation is that it will be themed to the Disney villains. Oh, and yes it was an employee that told me this, not just your average guy at the dippin' dots stand. -

This year I caught Weird Al at Carowinds. It was hilarious. -
The Disney Experience

Those videos are really entertaining. I can't wait till the next chapter. On a more serious note, how do you sign up for Disney's intern program. I'm graduating from high school this year and was thinking that it would be cool to spend six months working at WDW. -

Florida and their, you can never guess is coming, summer storms. Brings back memories from my trip down there earlier this year. The last night, it rained pretty bad, but that didn't detour us from riding everything, including Splash Mountain. Thus, my avatar. Looked like you had fun though. I've never been able to get to BGA. It's out of the way of everything. -
^interesting idea, that would certainly draw a crowd. Personally, I think we could all be wrong and it turn out to be some Morgan Hypercoaster at 150 feet. We can't tell anything from footers, because any company can use any style footer, or bolt configuration, depending on what is needed to properly support the ride.

For me, it's got to be TOT at WDW. After the upgrade that makes the ride choose what it is going to do to you and the eleven times I was on it this summer for vacation, it does things that you could never imagine a drop tower doing. After my fifth consecutive ride one night, I had to stop because I was getting rides of seven rises and falls and was feeling very disorienting, but hey I love it.

Love the TR, love the videos. This has got to be one of the funniest TRs on this entire site. Can't wait to see what other "credits" you found. All I can say now, envisioning the future, is, "poor Snoopy." (on a side note, 100th post!)

Hard to believe but, "How do you do", straight from the WDW Splash Mountain Soundtrack. It came with this awesome recreation of Magic Kingdom in RCT3.

Mine is definitely 5.

Wow, how did I end up only being worth $4915? It must be the sodas...

You'll either pop like an overfilled balloon, or you will get the sudden urge to sing "...and I don't have to go right now..." God made everything with a purpose, what's the purpose of love bugs and mosquitoes? -
2000 Chevy Malibu LS. Power seats, cruise control, leather interior, and not to mention an awesome v6 you would never expect to see in a mid-sized sedan.

Jaws, it's just the greatest movie ever made. I love the book too, Peter Benchley is my favorite author.
