  1. I'm pretty sure I found out about it after someone from southparks.org (Thorpe and Chessington forum) posted a link to an awesome PTR of some death trap theme park in India or somewhere. I started posting on TPR after we planned our honeymoon to the US and I needed some trip planning info! Thats how shallow I am.
  2. Mind you, I'm still scared to visit New York, since they have this giant lizard problem twice now. Or is that the giant monkey twice and the lizard once? Either way there's too many giant animals there for my liking.
  3. I would say by the time the official annoncement is made, the coaster design would have been completed, and B&M would be happy with it. The renderings etc came along with the press release, and I would assume these renderings are pretty much the exact layout from B&M's design software. Its possible it was changed but they stuck to the original statistics for the press release anyway, or even a mistake in communication somewhere. Or the fact relates to something like the track angle through the turn or helix etc, not the 'angle of descent'. Whether or not its 85 degrees, and the reason for the press release saying it is may remain a mystery. Or maybe its even a typo.
  4. I'll chip in aswell! I'd even stretch to $10 if I actually thought it might work
  5. If you have no desire to ride them to start with....nevermind, your choice I guess I count the coaster I've ridden, but haven't ever ridden a coaster for the sake of a credit. I'd sooner ride a bigger coaster twice than spend time waiting for a smaller (and probably not as much fun) coaster.
  6. But maybe if we force everyone to watch the movie, more people will be scared to go which means shorter lines for us!
  7. ^Maybe, but then it depends what is classed as 'good' condition. I don't know whether with a few new parts, some assembly/general reconditioning it could easily be up and running if someone were to buy it. On another note, I see the Deja Vu's are in 'excellent condition'. I guess this is since they are hardly used
  8. Some really awesome pictures and a great TR! Thanks for sharing
  9. ^Its been going around purely as a rumour since the press release about X2 said MM had 14 coasters, when it will have 15 after flashback has been removed, so people are assuming DV must be going too. Its just a rumour.
  10. See now if you tell everyone the photo is from RCDB they can just go look it up like I did, took about 3 minutes to find it But thats not the point of the game so I'm not going to say which park it is
  11. ^ Doesn't the park have 16 now? Hence if only Flashback is removed, there will still be a count of 15. http://www.rcdb.com/pd4.htm Plus of course don't forget it might just be human error anyway, and someone may have counted 14 not 15.
  12. Depends on the coaster, but usually I prefer the back. I just like getting pulled over the drops etc and in most cases find it more enjoyable than the front.
  13. Maybe, but I thought it was called Stealth because it sticks out a mile. Almost like a joke name because its anything but Stealth like. I do think Goliath for the Batman clone is a crap name also, right now I can't think of anything else to put
  14. ^^Exactly what I get asked by non enthusiast friends. The public in general percieve a higher/faster coaster must be better than a smaller one. In some cases it can be true (but thats my own opinion), such as comparing Air at Alton Towers to Tatsu, perhaps a little unfair since Air was the prototype flyer but still. I haven't ridden the others though I can't comment on them. We all know many things go into making a decent ride, and if you ask different people you will get different opinions. I don't have any statistics but I guess if a park adveritses the worlds tallest, fastest coaster, it makes the public want to go and ride it, and has massive marketing potential, hence lots of money. Essentially its a gimmick, although I'm not saying its a bad thing. Anyway for a while yes I think perhaps it was all about speed and height, but if a ride is good people will keep coming back to ride it, reagrdless of whether it holds a record or not.
  15. ^^ No the way its worked out is basically by the stats you read on RCDB, put in some order. It's a 'just for fun' list, as the taller and faster a coaster is, the more scary it seems to be to your average person, hence the marketability of the worlds tallest/fastest etc.
  16. I first visited Disneyland when I was about 11 with my parents, I have never been to WDW. Oh I'm from the UK. In my adult life, we visited Disneyland again for our honeymoon at the beginning of September. We would both like to go to Florida at some point in the future, but my wife really wanted to go to LA, plus I really wanted to go there aswell. Other attractions affected the decision, the beaches, Hollywood, plus I was drooling at the prospect of Magic Mountain. Which before anyone says anything was a fantastic day out. The time of year also affected our decision, as it was a honeymoon we wanted it fairly close to our wedding (July), but did decide in the end not to visit during peak summer season. Also in Florida it seemed there was a fair bit of rain that time of year, and virtually none in LA. We get enough Rain here in the UK! So basically a large combination of things, and also take into account we don't plan our holidays around going to theme parks, they are just part of what we do when we go somewhere.
  17. If you even read the quote what you posted properly you would see it said many people can quite easily stand but not walk. Having said that, I do also see them as a potential safety hazard, especially on very busy days. If all of them had responsible owners then it would probably be fine, in addition to the fact they probably have a better line of sight through crowds than a normal motorised wheelchair given they are much higher up. This leads me to Beemerboy's post about some kind of licensing, which I see as a good idea IF indeed these vehicles are shown to cause more injuries etc than a regular motorised wheelchair.
  18. It would be a great deal of fun, and also probably the fastest elevator on earth! Sort of. But since the moon isn't geo-stationary, or whatever the term for 'in the same place relative to' to the earth an elevator simply wouldn't work. Shuttles would be too expensive, and....hang on a minute, why are we going to the moon again?
  19. It would be eerily quiet, unless everyone was given some kind of clever earpiece headset thingy. Maybe they could move Superman from SFMM there to keep the noise down.
  20. Well at least the little kid made it eventually, its good excercise for him. And yes I call that an inversion, since the whole train gets inverted in a full cycle.
  21. Just had my first visit to the mountain, so heres my advice. My opinion: Best: Tatsu Scream Goliath Worst: Superman Revolution I did like X, except for the fact it was too uncomfotable and shook me about too much. I don't know whether some people are held in better than others, but don't skip it as its worth the ride. I did go on twice, but couldn't let it beat me up a 3rd time, even tho it was a walk on :/ If you get time, hit Ninja - we weren't going to but we did and its good fun! We ate at mooseburger lodge, the food was very average, but it was air conditioned and comfortable. Have a good time!
  22. Thorpe Park, probably May 2008 ish. I don't get out much.
  23. Like most others I agree its far too complex or at least too costly for todays technology, regardless of whether you could insure it or not. And if someone did build one, it would probably have tons of downtime, couldn't operate in anything but perfect conditions, be very rough, costly to maintain, would end up killing someone, to then to be reprofiled without the jump.
