  1. Rest in peace, old friend. You may be gone, but not forgotten... You're right. It is hard to believe. I expect better from Cedar Fair. Or should I say, Cedar UnFair.
  2. Cedar Fair is not wasting any time at all. They can't tear down my memories!
  3. Leave them at Geauga Lake where they belong!
  4. If I was a betting man, I would put my money on the Huss Top Spin, Texas Twister, from Geauga Lake, just like many people above me have posted. However, if Great America does receive a Screaming Swing, would the smaller up-charge 8 seat version like the one at Dorney Park or would it be a larger 32 or 40 seat model such as the one at Cedar Point?
  5. I am driving through Erie, PA on Friday, so I'll make a stop at Waldameer and give a progress report on the coaster's status...in pictures of course.
  6. The ride looks great in the POV. So much airtime! The compact nature, the constant speed, and the quick transitions of the baby Intamin hyper is quite appealing. Hopefully, some small to medium sized parks in the USA will buy one of these clones of Heart Beat / Piraten as the capacity (810 riders per hour) doesn't seem to be very high.
  7. No. I don't think it could, with both spikes being twisted. Anyway, that is an awesome logo, and a cool name too! And they will probably repaint it. Remember, when X-Flight showed up at King's Island, it was still Green, but was repainted red while being constructed. Correct, there is no holding brake. The spikes on Wicked Twister are twisted, where both max out at 450 degrees. The ride is taller (215 ft) and faster (72 mph) than all other impulse coasters. I agree, straight drops are better as well. If you look closely, you can see where the paint is chipping off of Firehawk, showing the original neon green color of X-Flight. It tries to live again!
  8. At least Geauga Lake's impulse is going to have a better name, logo, and paint job... I still have a better ride in Wicked Twister, so it won't be missed as much as Dominator.
  9. You went in groups of four, to an area, and when the bell/buzzer/whatever went off - you started shooting like crazy at whatever targets popped up - not the hostages though, har har - then you rushed into the next room/target area and repeated the same thing. Guns were electronic , killing hostages was seriously OMG crazy, and it was a good workout for most of us, lol. In fact, this was one of the very few shoot-up attractions that didn't move us around in a ride vehicle. Hence, a good workout, heh heh. Thanks for your help. OMG! That sounds like so much fun! Too bad that there isn't something similar to that in North America. Must be one of those "never in America" things again.
  10. I really like this design. If these new restraints are as good as they look, watch out! Hopefully Vekoma can modify these new OTSR so that their sit down looping coasters can receive some much need comfort. Would that make Boomerang coasters ridable again? There's only one way to find out! Edit: Woot 50th post!!
  11. Ride of Steel at Darien Lake on 9/8/07
  12. Glad to see that you had a great time at Oktoberfest! I did not have time to make the trip last weekend, so hopefully I can make it next year. They need to make it last every weekend in September. The park does so much work only for three days of public enjoyment.
  13. Who doesn't like a good caption contest? Lou: My head still hurts from getting donkey punched on the Hurricane. At least I have that panda to ride later... Richard: Not if I keep you trapped on the on the Hurricane! ::insert evil laugh:: Lou: Watch out on next year's East Coast trip where you will have an excellent time on Hypersonic... What's up with the shotguns? Can someone explain the game/ride/attraction/whatever? (laser tag? break the targets?)
  14. That is hilarious! I might just have to do the five hour trip down from Cleveland to check this out!
  15. My cousin and his family went on a Disney cruise in the June 2003 and they loved every second of their trip. They even got to see an advance screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl while on the boat. How amazing is that!? They took another Disney cruise last summer.
  16. The front seat of of floorless coaster is just incredible. The exposure that you receive makes the ride feel so unique. There is nothing blocking your view of thousands of feet of looping track goodness.
  17. So I have a question to ask you and I don't want to clutter the main page. I have a high probably to be able to visit SFGAv on the evening of 9/21 and all day on 9/22. What can I realistically expect crowds to be on those days? (Read: Should I buy a Flashpass or could crowds be similar to those in the trip report?)
  18. I did...on page 13 For some reason you need to highlight the link in order to see it. I'm not quite some why the link is doing that...
  19. All is not totally lost for Geauga Lake! youtube.com/watch?v=K31b3EN8pAc The video is not probably too trustworthy (who am I kidding...this guy has way too much time on his hands and I would bet heavily that he has no idea what he was talking about), but remember all these rumors originated from screamscape. Some hope is better than no hope at all. To observe a more one-sided view of these rumors, take a look at these Geauga Lake Today forums: www.freepowerboards.com/geaugalaketoday/geaugalaketoday-about167-0-asc-0.html
  20. So if I am understanding this correctly, were the "adults" not allowed to ride by themselves on Little Bill's Giggle Coaster? I went on by my self and I am much bigger than your average child. So how much money did your daughter make that day? When my family went to King's Island, I joked with my sister and called the ride "Little Bill's Giga Coaster!"
  21. LIES!! It's all lies!! You must have gone to another park and rode different roller coaster named Cyclone!! Six Flags New England's Cyclone does not equal
  22. Vekoma SLC and Boomerang clones are all pretty rough. Why don't they just stick with smaller coasters, where they aren't so terrible? CCI woodies are high maintenance and if they don't get a lot of attention, they can become quite bumpy, in my opinion. But most of all: I hate Son of Beast! That ride is pure garbage! So rough! Why, oh why, couldn't Cedar Fair remove that first helix along with the loop?
  23. You might also want to also check out Waldameer Park in Erie, Pennsylvania. The park is not that large but it has some good rides. They have a small water park with about 10 slides, a very fun and wet (for me at least) log flume, a great Maurer Sohne spinning coaster named Steel Dragon, and next year they are opening Ravine Flyer II, a brand new Gravity Group wooden coaster!!
  24. I am going to assume that you are referring to the Best Western that has the attached Perkins Restaurant and is about a two minute drive to the Cedar Point Causeway. I stayed there over a Friday and a Saturday night last season and the biggest problem that I faced was that there was no free continental breakfast! So in a sense, I agree with you on the expensive part, but I disagree with you on the dirty (I found my room to be up to my high standards for cleanliness) and the cramped (I guess that I had a bigger room) parts. Stupid Perkins for being so overpriced even with the 10% hotel discount!!
