  1. Cedar Point's hotels really are not all that bad. You could try the cabins at the Lighthouse Point. They are about $150 per night (with an 11.5% room tax per night). My sister stays there every year with her friend and her family, and she never says anything negative about the accommodations, which leads me to assume that the cabins are pretty good. And they are right on the lake! Here's the link: resorts.cedarpoint.com/public/resorts/index.cfm?resort_id=6
  2. I rode Son of Beast about a month ago and let me tell you that I hated the ride with a burning passion. That first helix was downright painful and was as bumpy and rough as a SOB. The first drop was great, however, overall I did not enjoy my experience on the coaster. Would I have had a better ride if I would have sat in the very front seat? Possibly. That ride really need those new PTC one bench coaster trains as soon as humanly possible. I will not ride it again until those issues are resolved (this is helped by the fact that I am more than 4 hours away from King's Island).
  3. Watch your tongue Elissa!! (j/k) Is El Toro really better than Millennium Force and Superman: Ride of Steel at SFNE?? I'll be going to Six Flags Great Adventure in September and I'll see if your comments are valid...
  4. After riding a fair number of boomerangs, anything would be an improvement. The trains look like that they could be great, but I'll need more information to be convinced.
  5. I went to Beech Bend about a month ago, and I agree with everyone: Kentucky Rumbler is incredible! That coaster is definitely in my top 3 for best woodies! That "Pinfari death machine" Looping Star was one the most painful rides known to mankind. I am still surprised that I actually fit into the cars!
  6. Vekoma Boomerangs (rough) Vekoma SLCs (rougher) Son of Beast (roughest) Need I say more??
  7. I went to King's Island on July 5 and July 6. I went on all 13 coasters at the park and I thought that the first helix on Son of Beast was incredibly rough. The drop out of the station was a new and exciting experience for me. The lift hill did not seem as long as I planned, which was a plus. The turn around for the first drop built up my anticipation for the rest of the ride. The first big drop was one of the best that I've ever had on a wooden roller coaster. It had just the correct amount of roughness and a huge amount of speed. Going up the next hill, I was starting to wonder why so many people hated this ride. And then it happen: the train turned. That first turn at that rate of speed was incredibly uncomfortable. It only got worse. The next 20 seconds were some of the worst that I have ever experienced on any roller coaster. That helix was terrible! I was pretty sure that my internal organs were in different locations after the train stopped as a direct result of that helix. The rest of the ride wasn't nearly as bad as that first helix of death and was borderline enjoyable. The section that had the vertical loop replaced was one the best parts of the ride because it was relatively smooth! After that first drop there was less airtime then I expected for such a tall coaster. Son of Beast was a one of those rides that you only go on once in your life.
  8. Is anyone out there able to meet up at Six Flags New England on Saturday July 28? I'm about four hours away and have never been there before. (I live in Cleveland but I am working this summer in New York.) Superman: Ride of Steel looks amazing and I need to ride it. Batman looks really different from the other B&M floorless coasters that I've ridden and could be pretty good.
  9. I went on Son of Beast on Sunday July 8 and I thought that I was going to die on one of the worst roller coasters ever.
  10. So when is this ride finally going to open?
  11. that was different to say the least... and also pretty darn funny!
  12. I have a sneaking suspicion that the creators are large fans of Coney Island...
  13. Zero-G Rolls / Camelbacks on B&M coasters. I love the ones on Kumba and Incredible Hulk.
  14. Blue Streak + Rainstorm = Insane amounts of fun
  15. Excellent Trip Report!! The more people that learn of the greatness that is Raptor, the better!!
  16. When Firehawk was at Geauga Lake (R.I.P. X-Flight), it had three trains (blue, green, and black). When it first opened the ride would use all three trains and both stations. More recently, however, that number was reduced to two and one, respectively.
  17. Raging Bull is one of the best coasters that I have ever ridden.
  18. That sounds amazing. Where exactly did you find this information? An Intamin pre-fab terrain wooden roller coaster...I like it already!!
  19. Since I've only been on Mantis, I'm going to have to say...Mantis! (you would have never guessed, right ) Stand-ups are fun. You just need to learn how to ride them correctly.
  20. You work at TRW?But why is your location Cleveland? Simple. I am a college student who was born and raised in Cleveland. My co-op job is at TRW.
  21. S:ROS should hopefully get better as the season goes on.
  22. If you think that Steel Force hurts in the rain, just imagine the pain of Millennium Force in those conditions. From my first hand experience, rain drops hurt alot!
  23. It's a good thing that I live less than 2 hours from Erie, PA because Ravine Flier II looks like it has the potential to be amazing!! Can't wait to ride it next year!!
  24. So, ROS was not running up to the usual Intamin standard of greatness. I was looking forward to going there for the first time this summer. ^ odene497, your from auburn? I totally work in the city at TRW.
