  1. You can add Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars at Hong Kong Disneyland as well to that list.
  2. Thank you all for the comments!! I was thinking about something that might about Helix that would take down the excitement of the ride somewhat. I wonder if the launches will end up like the one on Kanonen, where you coast at a steady pace after the initial launch. I mean You will enter the launches at around 60 km/h and the first one will just add another 20 km/h where as the other one will add 30 km/h, and since the trains will accelerate at 1 g, then the speed increase will be dealt with pretty quick, so what about the rest of the launch track... They have to be that length though to be able to launch the trains from a stand still, but if they run the trains without stacking then they might prove a bit of a disappointment compared to the rest of the ride. Also this popped up on the unofficial Helix FB page: It looks pretty drawn out, so it will either be a different experience compared to the one on Blue Fire, or the trains will go through it a lot faster The question is though, would this be classed as a TPR rule violation, since this is pure porn
  3. And the bit we (at least I) have been waiting for have just been completed today. Can't wait until Lisa posts some great images up close to it and post on the Liseberg Facebook page or the Helix blog. So today, we have 2 sections with installed track, the short bit which is the second launch, and the long bit which is looking epic!! And there we have it, one completed heart-line roll <3 And then later, not much to see here, except a new batch of completed footers making this turnaround completely done and can be scratched from the Helix To-Do list A bit earlier today, this must be a record, 3 cranes at the same time. The big green one were needed to reach the bit of the turnaround that is furthest away. The big RCS crane was lifting the pieces from the truck to the big crane, and the small RCS crane was making a visit from the staging ground where it normally resides.
  4. Thanks everyone for the comments. About the Height restriction, then Liseberg wants and are aiming for 130 cm, but it's the final inspection that will determine if that will happen or it will be raised to 140 cm. Also the Switch track was installed today, so now it looks like all the track pieces in the station may be in, so wonder where RCS will head for the next section. Installed and ready to be hooked up to the main computer.
  5. ^^ Who knows And you are welcome, scroll down and enjoy!! ^ The restriction on X2 is one I can't understand at all. I'm well over 122 cm and I don't feel like the restraints are sufficient (based on my rides on Eejanaika, which by the way have a restriction of 130 cm). And based on what I heard about Helix during the visit today, then I would not be surprised if it will end up at 140 cm, even thjough for me 130 cm would be good enough. Anyway, onto the visit today!! Official Helix IRL walk, Take 2!! So today was the second official behind the scenes tour, this time during a school holiday, so there were plenty of interested to take the tour. There were a total of 800 interested, but only about 300 were allowed to come for the actual walk. There were so many in fact that they were forced to stage multiple groups on the tour which covered 5 different areas with various bits of information at each of them. I can summarize the information that was given about Helix to that it might be a lot more intense and forceful than we have all thought. This event really made me want to ride it a lot more than before, you can't really say much more that it's going to be EPIC!! Onto the images: Panorama.zip I was able to get a new Panorama of Liseberg, download, unzip and enjoy Our group are heading to the first observation/information spot On the way we pass another Helix, this time on Lisebergbanan Balder says Hi!! First stop was Helix helix, where Andreas Anderssen (the Liseberg CEO) welcomed us to this trip. I have to say that, judging by the supports in place, it looks way better than any of the renderings have shown before It's really tight and close to the ground. And it's at this location that Helix will produce it's maximum g-force. All 4.3 of them POWERR!!! A crane removing the form from the last footer in this area, the area which still have footers to be completed now is the Pretzel area (that I saw) It's going to be tight up here as well where Helix will cross itself at the entry/exit of the Helix Next stop at the second Launch, where we got a quick description of the LSM system as well as other interesting information Such as that you will zip through the inverted Top-hat at around 40 km/h!! Old support of Flume ride And the new one already installed You will later zip through this corner at around 60 km/h and then enter the launch that will get the speed up to 90 km/h before the Top-hat, with an acceleration of up to 1 g. Onwards!! I though that this support looked a bit funky and wouldn't fit with the rest at this turnaround. It seems like they couldn't reach the footer with their small crane due to the Lisebergbanan lift-hill. One section of the Heart-line roll is in place And the supports for the rest is waiting for their track pieces Hmmm, they need to do something about that tree Can't wait to see this bit finished A peak of one of the s-turns BRAKES!! Made of ZnSn6, whatever that stands for Final block before the station, with it's own brake fins, LSM fins and soon to be installed friction brakes YAY station Much of the interior of the maintenance shed is now completed, with the work platforms and lighting is in place The sliding lock for the switch track is in place at this end, I would guess that it's already in at the other end as well LOOK, is it a bird, is it a plane, NO ITS MR CRANE JUICED UP ON RED BULL!! See it's flying Oooo, the switch track is laying here in two bits The RCS guys are screwing Helix together the best they can Station Stop Close up on the new façade of the Helix station building. Looks a bit medieval Close up on the switch track Hello turnaround The lovely first drop The train will swoop up the first corkscrew at over 50 km/h Adding a few sensors for the launch computer to get the right speed to sync the LSM units And then reach a top speed of over 70 km/h before entering the first launch for a little extra boost Weeee Liseberg is empty, but still there is plenty of things happening On the last visit I asked why there are so much strengthening of the track around the support connections compared to other mega coaster, and according to the Mack guy that answer that question then it's due to more static forces in use on Helix Lovely airtime, there have been discussions on how much airtime this hill will deliver, but based on what I heard today then I would lean towards a lot!! Weee One of the last footers at the pretzel area Swooping down The top speed of the ride will happen on the turn closest to the camera, where the train will hurtle along the track at 100 km/h, meaning that the Heart-line roll might be plenty fast Getting ready to finish of the footers?? Rabalder with it's winter cover Getting ready for the summer Empty Liseberg Just imagine this view with the massive Top-hat in place <3 Andreas Andersen greats another batch of visitors Well that was really it with this tour, but on our way out then we did a slight detour past the staging area Not much track here really Just 10 or so track sections, they are apparently waiting for somewhere around 30% of the total number of pieces, so there is still plenty of stuff that have to arrive A big load of supports They come in all sizes These massive ones must be for the Top-Hat Thanks Liseberg for another great visit, will be back soon So with a final image from the location across the motorway I say thank you all for reading this update, and I look forward to take pictures for the next one Don't forget the massive Panorama at the top. It gives you all a great overview of the mountain side and Helix. The last image of this update comes from one of the official web cams, sometime after the visit. It seems like they are soon getting ready to install the Switch track!! Until Next time!!
  6. Easy one, especially if you have been followed the TPR trips of the past. Today it's known as Ramses at Parque de Atracciones de Zaragoza, which is why I found it easily, but the above photo is from it's previous location, so the correct answer is: Vikingo at Parc de Montjuic: http://rcdb.com/2870.htm Guess me??
  7. It could be that simple that they already have a good business connection with Mack. Alpina Blitz will make the parks 4:th Mack coaster and they also have several Mack flats as well, so why go with some new company that they have little/no experience with? I have to say that this ride look delicious, much better than any Intamin
  8. Gothenburg and Liseberg to host EAS 2015 The local paper just posted an article about that EAS will come to Gothenburg next year. It will be located in the massive Exhibition across the street from Liseberg so it's really fitting Also Liseberg are aiming to have the park opened during those days, so that the local people will notice that the EAS is in town (falls in with the rumoured Halloween opening). Source: Gp.se
  9. ^ I really doubt that you would be allowed on Helix at 122 cm, heck you can't even ride Lisebergbanan on your own at that height. Best case scenario would be 130 cm, which would put it at the same level as Balder. Last row will be 140 cm though, just as it is on Blue Fire since they are the "big Boy" seats. On another note, the pressure on the behind the scenes tour this time have been phenomenal, over 800 people have registered for it. So we have to wait and see how it all works out I promise a lot of images of it though
  10. Yes, and so is Storm at Etnaland. But then again, Manta at Sea World San Diego is only 122 cm, sure it's a smaller and more gentle ride, but it gives us the range to work with. I would still guess that Helix may end up at 140 cm though.
  11. Believe it or not, that question is the most common one on Liseberg FB and the Helix Blog. But unfortunately it's not yet decided on what the height restriction will be, it will be determined when they have started testing the ride. So I would guess that sometime in late March early April they will release what kind of restrictions we will see. I hope that we will see a 130 cm restriction like Blue Fire, but seeing that Helix is supposed to be "a lot" more powerful, then it may end up at 140 cm. By "a lot", I mean that the forces are going up to 4.3 g's on Helix compared to a maximum of about 3.2 g's on Blue fire.
  12. ^ Thanks!! No, the turn is between the final brakes and the switch-track. The first drop is straight out from the platform I believe that it really can produce some great airtime in the back of the train.
  13. Helix Blog Update - Moving in Helix have finally started to move into the station now, not only have the completely installed the brake run with all it's extra bits, but also the station track and drop have been installed. Unfortunately no Heartline-roll yet, even though all the supports are in. But today after installing the brake run they moved to the Dive and Helix bit just before the second launch. Top hat is scheduled to go in in week 8-9, according to the plan as of now, but RCS are doing as they please so who knows really. Also the second of all the slabs in the pretzel loop area have been poured today, and the rest of them are close to be poured, so they will finally soon be done there. Source: http://projekthelix.se/helix-har-flyttat-in/ Onto some images from today's blog update: Can't wait to stand here and getting ready to board Going down!! More brake run. Brake run I don't know how they managed to get this piece in place And updated with the information of the progress today, pink = installed track Until next time!!
  14. ^ Completely agree!! Final brake run have been flying in today, and now they are getting really close with turn into the station. Can't wait for the rest of the track in this area. Getting close to connecting it all up.
  15. I'm sure that the coaster and maybe even the flat comes from Ölands Djur och Nöjespark here in Sweden: http://rcdb.com/4510.htm The sign on the coaster is the exact same one that it had here in Sweden with all Swedish writing on it Here are some pictures oh it when it was running in Sweden from 2010. Looks like the same ride, but with out the small canopy's above the seats. Afrika Expressen Same sign and everything
  16. More lovely comments, awesome!! It was the project name at first, but it sort of stuck and will be called it as well. They have installed loads of track pieces today, finished up the S-turns and started on the Lisebergbanan turnaround as well. It also seems like they have installed the entry of the Heart-line roll , but I can't tell for certain on the web-cams. Now they are preparing to move the crane, either to the station or to another location to get a better angle to fit the track pieces on the plot furthest away in that turnaround since the Lisebergbanan lift is in the way for this crane. But who know, they might be moving it out of the way, to get a larger crane in it's place. Much done today. Seems like they are preparing to pour two large slabs in the pretzel area, also much of the track at the end of the ride is installed. Is it just me or is the track to the entrance of the Heart-line roll in place, can't wait for it to be finished. Loads of progress on the station so far, it really looks like a station now I'm not 100% sure on some parts of this image, but I'm pretty sure it's OK. The biggest question is if they installed the top of the drop out of the station was installed yesterday after it was delivered or not. But as always, pink = installed track.
  17. That's a real shame, and as it sounded on Lisa then the chance of a third public viewing to take place is a really slim unfortunately. But then the question is, exam or Helix backstage tour? I have once ditched a bunch of University lectures to go coaster riding CORRECTION: Based on what Lisa posted today on the Helix Blog, then there is at least one more in the pipeline, so fingers crossed that it won't screw with your schedule a third time. EDIT! RCS have really put the hammer down today, the track that have been laying around at the final s-turns have been installed as well as a load of supports, some of which will hold some of the greatest track pieces of Helix EDIT 2! First drop is being delivered, they are going to squeeze it through the passage underneath the station The supports in the top right will most likely hold the most eagerly awaited pieces of track on Helix More S-turns installed First drop going in!! Also another support for the Heartline roll.
  18. Are you sure, it looks like it, but the image don't have the dual station.
  19. Thank you all for the comments!! That's a real shame, and as it sounded on Lisa then the chance of a third public viewing to take place is a really slim unfortunately. But then the question is, exam or Helix backstage tour? I have once ditched a bunch of University lectures to go coaster riding I doubt that Helix is much closer to Uppswinget than the roof that was located in this area before. Helix will on the other hand bring a bit of extra excitement to Uppswinget though. That's a good point, wonder how hard it would be to time them all right to get them racing at that location Don't put too much thought on that animated videos. The only parts that sort of corresponds with reality is Helix and the ground, the rest are just crude models. There is plenty of space between the rides, at least more than 10 cm between the clearance envelopes or clearance envelope/stationary objects so you shouldn't worry that much about hitting things. It's not like in South Korea where you can go and touch the rail on some coasters.. Oh yes, at least twice as good since it's almost twice the coaster, and it uses the terrain in a better way than Blue Fire Slight update on the work this Saturday. Yes RCS started to work in the station area, but after installing 4 supports, they moved the crane to the area next to the top of the Lisebergbanan lift-hill, before quitting for the day, so not much action going on as I can see. Until next time!!
  20. January MEGA Update!! Here is a massive update on Helix etc. as it stands today. First up is an invite on the Helix blog, everyone is invited for another Helix IRL experience, anyone that happens to be in the Gothenburg area on the 12:th of February are welcome to attend. If that's the case then visit: http://projekthelix.se/kom-och-se-helix-bygget-irl/ for more information and how to register for the event. The last one was really fun to attend Lisa have updated the times when the web-cams are running, so that you are now able to follow the work that RCS is doing on Saturdays, so you can all now have a look at what's going on. Also Liseberg recently uploaded a new Youtube video for Helix, this time with a bit more information about the ride itself, and it's currently running on the big screen above the Liseberg main entrance. The video seems a bit wonky at the moment, but that might be fixed soon. Also had the chance to go by the park to take a few more images as well as a new panorama of the whole building site, nothing from the staging area though, since there wasn't that much of interest there and we were in a bit of a hurry at that point. Enjoy the coming images!! Panorama.zip First up the new Panorama, download, unzip, open and shed a few tears of the beautiful curves of Helix The airtime hill in all it's glory Pointing towards the sky Overview of the second launch, which gets more and more covered by the day now Many twists and turns of Helix Video above running on the main entrance big screen. Love the information graphics Shame that there are just short clips, I would have loved to have seen the complete ride on there Yay, Helix Hmmm, Pong?? Would be pretty epic if they let you play though Through the fence at the gate.. Continuing around the park More Helix and other Whole area Yay Balder Hmm, this is interesting, a picture of an RCS van taken inside the park?? Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you all, I was privileged to get an invite by Lisa (who runs the Helix blog) to come into the park and take a closer look. Special Helix construction tour Commence!! Plenty of action in the Pretzel area, still loads of work to do It looks even bigger up close Another footer is being poured Even more massive The dive which will lead up to the Prezel, and it's the latest pieces of track to be installed Can't wait to zoom down this turn Twisty madness First corkscrew and launch First up another update graphic of installed track as of earlier this afternoon. Pink = installed track They have already started to install the fencing around the launch Landscaping in all it's glory, I really love the work that have gone into this hole. Also, those tree trunks that makes up the terraces are parts of the trees that were removed for Helix, it's all about recycling Mmmm, Mack box, I hope that it's full of Helix More awesome looking airtime hill Lovely twists The ride will produce plenty of power in this turn Still pouring By the looks from the web-cam then they were unable to reach this section so that they couldn't install it or maybe they decided that it would be better to do it from above the hill, no one really knows Can't wait Tightened and marked of bolts Space waiting to be filled Landscaping ins more or less done in this section of the ride More airtime hill, can't really get bored to look at it Yay Lisebergbanan Unfortunately not able to spot any Helix through Lisebergbanan This is one of my favourite images from this update, it will look sick when the trains finally starts to run. Hopefully you could get an image with two trains from this spot in the future. The area will be accessible when Helix opens, but it's undecided on what they will do with it at this point, another picnic area or other Lovely new walls!! Unfortunately they didn't installed the In-line before our visit, but that will come at a later date Some craning in the progress, entrance or exit stair?? Can't wait to use it Looking more and more as a station If the RCS crane is "Mr Crane" then this must be "Mr Big Crane" Maintenance shed, they are really working hard today so the RCS people can begin to install the transfer track and other station related pieces tomorrow. The wooden façade that was going to cover these walls may have been replaced with an aluminium chainmail looking mesh instead, not sure on what to think, but it might be really awesome!! Helix under the station. Parts of this area will be left open, since it's an access road to the tower complex, other parts will hold pieces of the overflow queue Sneak peak into the queue building Bottom between the top-hat and airtime hill Uppswinget!! Into oblivion and beyond This is another of my favourite shot from this update, Helix really blends in together with the rest of this area Covering the second launch in scaffolding Just imagine Helix in this shot as well They have covered Helix to be able to finish of the electrical work on the second launch, the cold and windy weather have made this really difficult and the scaffolding tent was the most cost efficient solution to get out of the weather The new footer for Flume Ride is in and waiting it's support, Helix is prepared to be extended with the rest of the layout This is another spot which will look good in the future Footers galore Something is missing here, what?? Dive and Helix footers are waiting for the Dive and Helix Freshly poured footers, some of the last ones There are really a lot of footers in this narrow area No Top-Hat today, they are missing the pieces to make it complete. But as many times as they have changed the installation order there is bound to get caught up in some snags, especially since the track is delivered in a predetermined order. Also with the scaffolding works on the second launch, they wouldn't be allowed to do any heavy lifting in that area due to safety concerns, so it will be installed once they have completed the electrical installation and the deliveries have caught up. So with this I bid adieu to Liseberg this time. A big thank you to Lisa from me and my brother for this informative and pleasant visit. Can't wait to get back here in about 1.5 weeks for the IRL visit So this is the final image of this update, I really hope that you have enjoyed all the images, don't forget to download the massive panorama so that you all can get a closer look of the whole mountain side and see what they are doing. Until next time, have a nice weekend!! Oh, here is a small bonus shot, with Lisa, my brother and me on it Take care everyone!!
  21. ^ I agree, I would have loved to see the top-hat done tomorrow , since they are going to start with the station area on Saturday. But they are currently working on the dive into the Pretzel loop at the moment, I guess that they need a bigger crane to do the rest of the top-hat which is why they decided to wait with it. Also the Pretzel loop may be the last piece to go in, since there is still a lot of work to be done to finish of all the footers in that area, and they are still in the preparation phase on the whole concrete slab which will be poured under the pretzel. Here are some more images that have been posted on the helix blog in the past days: Finished airtime hill Before and.. ..after fixating the supports Until next update!!
  22. ^ Thank you!! Then you will look forward towards Friday evening Plenty of progress today. They continued onward towards the second launch, instead of starting work in the station, and they have managed to install a bunch of supports and several track pieces so far today (still 42 minutes of work left on the day). So the big air-time hill is completed and they are nearing the top-hat So hopefully the top-hat will be installed this week!! Oh, I really hope so Some images of the progress so far, Source: Projekthelix.se : As you all can see, they have added plenty of track since last time Completed air-time hill You can see the air-time hill in the top left. Not much have happened in the station area today that I have seen Soon they will be out of this shot, and start work on the big top hat
  23. They just put in the top bit of the big airtime hill, then just imagine the top-hat being put in on the left side on the S&S screaming swing, but it will be Twice!! as tall Helix will change the look of Liseberg forever. Argh, I really want to go back to Liseberg today, just to take a new panorama to drool at Also, I would love to see a 4:th web-cam, from the top of the Space Shot, looking north, would have been epic!! Seems like RCS is ditching the plan to start installing track in the station area, which they were supposed to do tomorrow, but instead work south and carry on with connecting up the airtime hill with the second launch, which will mean that the inverted top-hat is coming soon It's in!! The walls are flying in, so the station is in a real state of transformation.
  24. Helix Blog Update - Massive Air-time hill installation!! Another blog report with a new set of images of the massive air-time hill that is currently being installed. Everything looks a lot larger than I have ever imagined after seeing the renderings. Can't wait to see all this in person Source: Projekthelix.se - Airtime hump monteras Images: Did I say that the new hill is MASSIVE!! Can't really wait for the inverted top-hat which will be about twice as tall YAY airtime!! They have been progressing good in the past few days
  25. The problem is that the link in the first post is wrong, it points to the edit post page of some post or something, no idea really. Go to the exchange with this link instead to find the download: http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=3081 A lot of snaking on the woodie, but it was in total a bit much for my computer so I can't really make a great verdict of the whole thing. Looked alright though.
