  1. There's a webcam picture of it on the brake run...man, the people in this thread get excited easily. Since that train were at the second launch earlier that day, then that image shows that it have completed it's first test run. Which means that they will soon start to cycle trains, which then implies that a POV will be posted soon
  2. YES, hopefully they will move on to doing full circuits instead of this slow pace. And Lisa have promised that she will get a POV as soon as possible
  3. So today is the official day for the first train to test the first part of the ride. I really hope that Lisa will be able to capture some photos for us!! EDIT: According to Lisa on the Blog, then the train have already left been pushed out of the station to the first launch, this was done on Saturday, so they are early in the test schedule which is a good thing. Apparently, then the train have passed the tests at launch 1, and have been launched and coasted to launch 2 for the next sets of tests in that area. Too bad that there are so many things in the way at the bottom of launch 2, so you can't see it on the web-cam. There is also a strict access forbidden zone around the ride in this stage of testing, which is something certain persons have to respect now.. EDIT 2: some more images of the landscaping progress around Helix, was posted on the blog a moment ago, it's going to look great once it's all green underneath. The Wheel cam is up again, and since last time then the roofs and area under the switch-track are beginning preparations to receive their "green" cover
  4. You mean the -1.5 g spike we see there on our accelerometer data If so, then I fully understand it I really hope that Helix will do the same, can't wait to ride it less than 3 weeks from now!!
  5. The park is preparing for the coming season: From FB. The trees are soon going to burst in this nice weather Kiddy drop towers are looking shiny Loads of work have been put in the landscaping around Helix Ready for lots of kids to come and play Hopefully it won't act up as it did on several occasions last season Ready to be fondeled by the TPR people later on Flowers in the sun At this time of the year, you really have to be aware of what you touch, there are lot's of painting going on all around Preparing the area underneath Helix New park map, with added Helix The Old timer buses are going in
  6. With all these great ideas, I'm pretty sure that the actual ride will be a total let down
  7. A bit more info on the system: The PRT was built by a company called Coaster Verkehrssysteme GmbH, but once in place they had quality issues with track, control system and battery problems, which lead the original company to go into insolvency. So then it was decided that Intamin should be the ones that fixed the whole thing. So it's not a true Intamin product, even though they have it on their web-page. But apparently the original company have made a comeback as CityCoaster, http://www.citycoaster.com/ , so we might see others in the future, if anyone dares to get one that is. Speaking of Coaster style transit, then Senyo Kogyo have developed one that work more as a coaster, all with lift-hills at the stations and then coast to the next one on a gentle downhill slope. Wonder how it would be counted though since it's even more as a real coaster than the one at Tschuggen Grand Hotels. They have even made a small prototype to test their idea: http://www.senyo.co.jp/newbiz/1052/ Something for TPR on the next Japan visit? (it's located here: https://www.google.com/maps?ll=35.626716,140.106906&spn=0.001364,0.002922&t=h&z=20 )
  8. ^ The schedule according to Lisa still says, but as we have seen in the past, it may be changed at a moments notice, but it can also happen on that day as schedule, so we just have to wait and see really.
  9. ^ As said, it may just be a case of someone that tried to do 1+1 but got 3 in the end, it may not be true at all. And just as Lisa promised, here is a "To-do" list for Helix, before opening day little over three weeks from now: [*] The Helix queue area shall be completed [*] The area ins the station will be cleaned and receive a general fixing [*] The roofs will get their Sedum plant covering [*] The façade will get it's mesh covering [*] The queue roof-light will be mounted [*] The control both will be completed [*] The Helix shop will be built in the tower area [*] Photo booth will be built [*] All security fencing will be completed [*] The landscaping department will finish all their work [*] The World Wildlife Fund fountian will be rebuilt [*] All the builders sheds will be removed form the park and the areas they occupy will be cleared [*] All driving surfaces will be paved [*] Trees will be sequred in place [*] The other 2 trains will be added to the maintenance area [*] Queues that have been damaged/removed during the construction work will be fixed: Lisebergbanan, Uppskjutet and Uppswinget [*] The power station will be programmed [*] Helix testing [*] Information signs will be put up [*] The coaster will be inspected [*] The approvals for Helix needs to be signed off Source: http://projekthelix.se/%EF%BB%BFhelix-kvar-att-gora/
  10. Some new Liseberg videos from their youtube page: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Also saw some rumours that Liseberg will get an updated version of a Zierer - Star Shape attraction, not sure of the validity of this rumour. It may bare fruit, but then again it might not, it's just a rumour. We just have to wait to see what Liseberg announces later in the year.
  11. ^^ True that!! ^ I'm pretty sure once, there is lights, music and other details in, along with a big load of people then it will be really nice. The park will open on the 26:th, so just little over 3 weeks to go!! Can't wait to ride it
  12. Blog Update - Helix Status report Just a general status update of Helix, mainly a view on how things are going right now, Lisa stated that she will do another update tomorrow and show what's left to do until it's all done. Another thing is that from tomorrow there will be some kind of competition about the first public rides on Helix, but they have received some stick for their choice of the competition itself on the blog, since to be able to take part you have to be a paid member on a newspapers homepage, which doesn't look too well to everyone (including me since then it might put some people of due to the somewhat questionable reputation of the paper itself). Source: http://projekthelix.se/status-helix/ Making a general cleaning of the escalator up to the tower, ever since they cleared the area for Helix then it's sorry outside state of it can be clearly seen, it will apparently receive a new lick of paint later in the season as well The top and bottom curves that will hold the mesh on the station are now all in place, just needs the mesh to be completed and looking spiffy Station progress have been great, looks awesome now Gates and the first train are all in It have been moved between the station and the maintenance bays to check that it all works, but also as a training exercise to get to know the ride until opening Can't wait to experience this view for myself <3 And as a final image, Helix have been switched on, and apparently all electrical systems are working fine, can't wait to see some trains moving!! Until next update!!
  13. ^ I don't like your fish-eye lens, you really end up on the images no matter where you are Just caught this on the web-cam, they just reversed out one of the trains on the switch, wonder what they are planning to do with it?? EDIT: False alarm, they just drove it back into the station again No testing today, but then again, it may be part of the testing protocol, to see if the switch lines up and the trains can enter the maintenance bays without snagging. EDIT 2!!: The train is now going into the station!! A bit later, and the train is entering the station for the first time (that I have seen), I really hope that there aren't any problems so that we can see some trains coasting with their own momentum soon
  14. Want some more Helix in your life?? Liseberg posted some things for you to helixify your phone Source Also if you like the soundtrack pieces that have been posted so far, then go to http://www.imascore.com/helix/ and download both of them for free!! Saves you the hassle to rip them of youtube etc. Helix-kit.zip Includes some pics and audio for you phone A taste Another one
  15. Thundercoaster at Tusenfryd have gone through massive repofiling works, when GCI was there to try and make it better.
  16. I know that Lisa on the blog have been saying that the testing will start on the 7th next month, don't put too much thought in that day though, since testing might happen sooner than that in reality. Since according to what she said during the visit we had to the park earlier this week, then we might actually see the ride testing several days earlier, in essence of what she said was that, as soon as the Mack guys are happy with all the systems, they will start the testing protocol. It may happen at any day really and any time during that day. So the less problems they encounter integrating the train into the ride computer and setting up all the other bit's and pieces the sooner the testing will begin. It may happen at 7 am, at noon or in the afternoon, no one really knows. We just have to keep our eyes pealed on the web-cams and on the blog (well they might go so fast that they forget to notify Lisa so we won't see the first train leave the station , I really hope that they don't forget to tell her though). She said that these guys are good at their work so the first go might happen in the week before the 7th, so the first train may go in about a week from now. About that testing protocol then the first few days will be pretty boring for us, Mack isn't just going to start up the ride and let it rip through the circuit at the first attempt, but take it in stages. They will start by pushing it out of the stages and let the train roll to the first launch area, where it will stop while additional systems checks are done. Then they will launch it so that it ends up at the second launch, and there again do another load of systems checks. Before launching it so that it ends up on the brake-run for another batch of checks. It's not until this have been cleared until they can go for a full circuit in one go, and the rest of the certifications, etc. can be preformed.
  17. And now there is video of the first car as well [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Here is a web-cam shot from the first completed train Also note the lack of scaffolding on the side of the station, and that the other wavy beam is in place at the bottom, not much left to do to the station now on the exterior
  18. Liseberg just uploaded the video that have been rolling on the big-screen above the main entrance, but with an extra bit of soundtrack attached [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] EDIT!! First train on the track!! A few images of the first train to be attached to the track, from the Helix blog: http://projekthelix.se/forsta-vagnen-pa-plats/
  19. I'm pretty sure that it would be harder to bolt all the track together before starting the support work (Sorry I couldn't hold back to the temptation ). I have seen this many times before. Most likely not as common on larger coasters, but on small ones no problem.
  20. Helix behind the scenes visit and TRAINS!! Today marked another big point in the Helix time-line, the first cars arrived at the park!! There are some images of them on the Helix blog, http://projekthelix.se/forsta-vagnarna-har-kommit/ , or you can just scroll down a bit Today we had another visit to the park, this time with great weather, instead of the chilly and windy with rain mixed that we have had in the past weeks, wo yeah a great visit in all. Got a full view of the massive pretzel loop. Massive is the right word for it, that sucker is huge!! A big thank you to Lisa that helped us once again to get these images!! So without further wait, here are the images from today. Enjoy, and don't forget the massive panorama at the top to do some exploring on your own Panorama.zip Another massive panorama, this time with great weather and a completed Helix!! Download, unzip and explore!! We start at the mountain on the other side of the motorway next to the park, to get the Panorama which is posted above this image, but also this nice view of the mess of track that is Helix Great weather and light today Liseberg from the other side of said motorway A complete mess of nice green track <3 Today we got in through the main entrance for a change And Helix greets us from right inside the park But it's this bad-boy that we were waiting to see Massive thing Completed dive It's a lot taller than I first thought it would be Yay, the zero-g is tall enough so that the Lisebergbanan station can't hide it The last of the three airtime hills Helix, completely dominates this area This dive under the Lisebergbanan lift looks really great, I thought that it will pass the lift when you were at the bottom, but you are already climbing into the airtime hill after when you get to the lift. Going to be a great head-chopper It's a bit of a shame that the tree is there, since it will hide a lot of the Pretzel from view, reducing it's impact a lot and also makes it harder to take pictures of Can't wait to dive down Here From this angle the top-hat looks really tall I do love this bit Yay, zero-g!! Dive and Helix Some great forces here But it still looks extremely tight on the down part of the Helix, they might have to bring out the drill and dynamite again And this thing as well This part will really chop your arm of, I guess that they waited to blast away until now, to be able to remove as little as possible I almost though that Liseberg have gotten another new attraction when I saw this, but it's just the chair swing with only it's underwear on A completely new view of Kanonen YAY, RCS trucks/cranes and Mack van Oooo, nice entry mat But what is through this door you might wonder?? Cars!! 4 of them Lovely green wheels Still under wrap and will be so until the maintenance bay is ready to accept them Special wheels for the cars to ride on while in the maintenance bay, much like the B&M inverts have Almost looks like a massive pair of butterfly wings from this view Lovely piece of track magic right there Another view of the pretzel X marks the spot!! Airtime and Zero-g all in one image The lovely path that I followed on the web-cam instead of the fastening of the last piece Station getting it's wavy crown piece Dive into Pretzel Some really great views here once the trains start running So that's almost it Good by Liseberg for this time, until the next update, hopefully with some delicious train action and a more finished station Until then, enjoy this great view of Liseberg!!
  21. Talked with Lisa and got some more info on this. There will be no CD with the sound-track, the CD format is sort of dead anyway so why even make one? It's a massive difference between the Mack Mega coaster and the Intamin accelerator coaster design, just because they look similar in broad terms doesn't mean that they offer a completely different ride experience. And why Mack, because they felt like Mack had a product that they liked, so why have to stick with Intamin? And to really anal about this, the the last two coasters at Liseberg (before Helix that is) was made by Zierer and Preston & Barbieri. Looking through my images from today, so expect an update later
  22. Was talking with someone that haven't signed any NDA and who was happy share bits about Wildfire Too bad that they are going to release this now just to compete with Helix, it may end up to be a case of too much too soon. But it sounds terrific though
  23. ^ Will ask Lisa about the CD. About cleaning the slab, seems like they did it as a preparation to pain it, since it's now turning black
  24. ^ Since Lisa on the blog have stated that they intend to put a camera on the first go, then I would say that it's due in 2 weeks By the way it looks like they are making preparations to add the first train to it's bay in the maintenance shed. Heck they even brought out the vacuum cleaner to clear up the concrete slab underneath the switch track They even brought up a massive crane for the job
