Why is IOA's attendance so low?
the ghost replied to ansley's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I said it before and I'll say it again...Disney is full of charm and IOA is not. The rides are really cool and I had a good time, but Stormforce(which may be for very young kids, but I dont know the height) unicorn, cat in the hat, the fish, the carosel and Seus tranm things and the flyers in jurrasic park(I dont want to spell that things name) are the only kiddie rides at IOA. Also, to add to that IOA has few "middle ground attractions" meaning you either go on something very kiddie or something very intense. The water rides are both more intense than either of the two variations than Disney. Also I work at a disney park as a cashier and Disney is so family themed I interact with kids, and Im a casier. I work at Taste pilots Grill at DCA and if a kid is in a stroller I'll say something like "Thats a nice little plane you've got there." I'll stay in character and ask kids if they are having a high flying day. I talk to them and ask them about there favorite rides and stuff while I am waiting for their food if I am being a host. Why? Thats just the Disney way, but I dont think its the universal way. Also IMO Universal is not NECESSARILY a destination, and the main reaason I say this is I think the park feeds off of Disney. How many people would really go to Orlando if WDW was not there? -

All right, so last summer I went to IOA/Universal for the first time and Disney for the second time, and I want to throw in my to cents. Also, I am a disney fanboy, but I had a great time at both IOA/Universal, so I will try to be unbiased. A: The disney magic works for me. Now do I clearly know the characters are random people in costume, or that the mountains holding various rides are artificial? Yes, but they sure as hell are charming. There is so much effort put into wonderfully theming the attractions at Disney, and it is down to the tiniest detail. This is not about dragons so much, but Hulk just looks so average, and it is relatively average besides the launch, which has been done by many other companies. Then we get to something Chuck said before, Toon lagoon is okay, but GOD DAMN Duddley Do Rights mountain thing is hideous, despite the ride being good. The theme parks are both very impressive, but they feel like a theme park, not like a crazy beautiful immersive environment like I get with Disney. B: The rides. Cat in the hat is(I believe) the only truly kid friendly dark ride at either park. MIB and Spidy, both awesome, are not kids rides. Disney has Indy and Dinosaur, which are less family friendly dark rides as well, but as a whole there is much more for kids to do at each park. C: The Disneyland resort system just works so well. Disney is its own town. It is literally kind of strange leaving Disney, cause when your at Disneyworld nothing is not Disney, and it shows. Its so immersive and well done that Mickey stuff was at our hotel, or that there were fun activities and Disney related stuff to do 24/7. Universal does not have that... it just feels like "Yay, another theme park, a DAMN good theme park, but still a theme park. -

[RCT2] Six Flags Over Lake Erie
the ghost replied to Pingu1651's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Unfortunatly I dont see you living up to potential. This park is not bad, but there is literally zero theming besides trees. However, the only good part of my statement is you do have POTENTIAL! Take some time to learn how to use the scenery and practice with it. This park with some scenery could be very reminiscant of something like Lake Winnie. -
[RCT3] Oak land Waterpark
the ghost replied to thecolinkid's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Have you been to Oakland? Its terrible and dangerous! Hell... have you even seen the Raiders? There would be make up psychos running through the park killing people. It should be Oak land. -

Voted. Had I seen this thread previously I would have voted daily. You are currently in second place! Does the car need to be first in its category to move on? I will vote either way regardless, but that first place car has so many votes it seems like they are cheating or something, its crazy! Anyway, I am sorry for your loss and will help in whatever way possible to help with this cause!

^ I think newsies has somewhat of a cult following though. I know many people who love it despite never seeing it myself. In fact, I think my school may have put it on as a play a while ago. Although I do see your point though. Of course, Nightmare Before Christmas did not do well in theaters but I think it is safe to say it has the biggest or one of the biggest cult followings of pretty much any film I can think of. Also this sounds like it would fit to the new "retro hollywood" theme they are trying to acheive. The costumes look like they fit in, and it would provide some entertainment. It would be really cool if Disney had celebrities in the hollywood area like Universal does with caracters like Zorro and Frankenstein. I know Disney does not have as many "real" characters, but that would add to the hollywood experience.

Photo TR: Evacuated from Disney's Nemo Ride!
the ghost replied to timfar's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I am quite surprised also. It might be because I am a cast member, but I would get in so much trouble if I were taking pictures. Of course, I dont work in attractions, so that might ave something to do with it. There is SO much happening backstage that non cms dont know about Disney. For example, does any non cm know what the toon town mountains actually are? -
What is newsies? Is it that musical with the papaer boys? Either way, that could be pretty entertaining. All of Disneylands areas have entertainment wether it be the dapper dans on main street or the trashcan in tomorrowland or the janitorial bamd that moves around the park. This is a good idea, and it looks like it will be pretty interactive if they are actually interacting with the people and the trams.

S&S Launched Coaster Rising in Beijing
the ghost replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If this thing is rough it will be VERY rough, if this thing is smooth it will be awesome. I dont know, but there are many S&S launch coasters that people dont seem to like. The hypersonics were rough, I ave heard dodonpa is roughish, and ring racer blew up. Now, this coaster(probably) wont contain an air launch, and if it works this ride will be awesome. I just hope this ride will be like powderkeg and less like hypersonic. -

^ I concurrish... I am going through the same thing, but my friends couldnt care less. The only bad part is I kind of need to act religious in my famil, but religion just seems to make life so much harder, and I really dont need it now. If I have some revelation in the future so be it, but I am far too young to think about these things for the time being. Also, there are some things ab out religion that just bother me... I know religious people that are some BAD people, but they think they are good people through religion. Oh well, I dont care what people say, as of about 6 months ago, which is the first time I started really questioning religion, I have decided I am agnostic.
