  1. The new sports bar is a nice place to hang out on hot and/or crowded days. My issue with Six Flags Great America is that there is no shade, and the aforementioned lack of areas to take a break. I do think comparing Great America to Cedar Point is unfair though, mainly due to how much larger Cedar Point is. Granted, this exception can't be made for the operation of the rides themselves though. Operations seem to be off this year based on what I've heard and experienced, but hopefully those issues improve soon as the Summer season gets into high gear. I've only been to the park once so far this season, and my visit was fairly poor. I tossed that up to my visit being the same day as some school choir/band competition, and the park not being redy to handle crowds of that level so early in the season(They were at/near Fright Fest levels). Granted, the park should have been running at full capacity, but I was willing to give the park a break as it was early and a one day event when it wouldn't be anywhere near as crowded for several more weeks. However, it sounds like service issues persist. That being said, Viper's crew was awesome on the day of my visit. Six Flags should look at what that crew does and replicate it at all the other attractions.
  2. Here's my list: Already Visited: Six Flags Great America Knoebels(New) Great Escape(New) Six Flags New England(New) Quassy*(New) - I visited, but Wooden Warrior was closed, and with no word when it would reopen, I didn't have time to wait around. Still to Come: Six Flags Great America Indiana Beach Azoosment Park Six Flags St. Louis Bay Beach
  3. That looks like a great little family coaster. I don't recall being that impressed when I first saw it, but the finished ride looks great. While not very big, the pacing looks surprisingly fast, and the layout looks like a lot of fun. Hopefully the construction of these junior SLCs takes off, as they seem like a design that could fit in any park.
  4. The last coaster I rode was Thunderbolt, my 100th credit, at Six Flags New England. I wanted my 100th credit to be Bizaro, but as I had limited time(and even less than I thought I did), I rode Bizaro first that visit. I'm glad I did too, because I was on the last train for Thunderbolt for the day, as the park closed at 6 rather than 7 like I thought.
  5. Still Into You - Paramore
  6. I did not notice any signs forbidding snapping cables, but then again, I was observing from outside the event. Riders at the media day were controlling their cars well, but I don't know if they were snapping them.
  7. Commonwealth Tim Hortons or Dunkin Donuts?
  8. While it wasn't as scary as the drop tower at Waldameer, Sasquatch at Great Escape was an impressive ride. The launch side was closed, so I rode the drop side. THe climb to the top was quick, and the top provided a great view of the area. The drop was also good, and there were still a few scary points, such as when the car reached the top and was preparing to drop. The bounces at the bottom were also great, and made for a great ride. I'm not a big fan of drop towers, but Sasquatch was great. The view and fun factor edged out Waldameer's drop tower and its OMFG factor as my favorite drop tower.
  9. I was at Great Escape today, and it was also the media day for the new Screamin Eagles. The ride looks great, and it should be a lot of fun. I was talking to a staff worker, and he said that the ride will open tomorrow to gold pass members, and Saturday to all season pass holders. Here are some photos I took from outside the event. Signage The ride has a really nice location Screamin Eagles looks like pure fun If in the area, check out Great Escape, it is a nice, albeit odd, park
  10. The last coaster I rode was Knobel's Phoenix, my new #1 coaster, last night.
  11. I've only been on X-Flight, so my experience with the design is limited, but my thoughts seem common. X-Flight is a fun ride, and it is great for the park. It is unique, and the public seems to really like it. However, the ride experience left me thinking "Meh, it's fun, but I don't need to ride this every time." My only complaint is that the restraints can be hurt, but other than that, it's an average thrill ride. While not intense, the key-hole barrel roll feels weird being as long as it is.
  12. El Toro gives the most extreme consistant airtime of any coaster I've been on. However, I have found it not very re-rideable, I was able to handle riding twice without getting off before I had to. Shivering Timbers delivers consistant airtime over every hill, but it is less intense than El Toro. It is still provides great airtime, and is in my opinion better than El Toro due to it being more re-rideable. However, there are still other rides that have certain moments. The first drop on Lakeside's Cyclone provides a pretty intense airtime moment, especially in the front row if I remember correctly. However, the most OMFG airtime moment I can think of is the second to last hill on Zippin Pippin. Zippin Pippin as a whole is a great airtime coaster, but holy hell is that hill violent.
  13. I believe mine was Raging Bull in 2005. However, it could also be Superman: Ultimate Flight or Batman: the Ride. I rode all of them on the same day.
  14. ^The park is near Busan. Link
  15. Link TLDR: Carnival failed big time, and they are now doing whatever they can to prevent people from suing them to hell. I get the refund for the cruise, but who the hell, let alone those on board, would want to take another Carnival cruise after this disaster?
  16. My first Arrow Coaster was Iron Dragon.
  17. If the deal does go through, why would that mean that Busch Gardens or Sea World's quality would go down? If Six Flags plays their cards right, couldn't this result in a boost in the quality of Six Flags parks? It all depends on the terms of the deal and who from Sea World's management is brought into Six Flags. Sure Six Flags buying Sea World could cause quality to suffer, but it could also prove to motivate Six Flags to improve service quality at all their parks. Just playing devils advocate. That being said, I would be shocked if this deal went through in the end in the first place.
  18. Six Flags denies that they are planning to build a park in Malaysia. Link
  19. Several sources are now appearing to back up the news on the Six Flags park: Here Here or Here My comment on market over saturation was due to there being Universal Studios, Legoland, the other park mentioned, and now Six Flags. I just assumed people would go to Universal for thrills and that the Asian park market operated differently from that in the US. I guess I'm just surprised another park is being built in the area when Southeast Asia is an open market. I would have guessed seeing a new major park open in Jakarta or Manilla before another one in Johor. Now, by "thrill park", should be expect Six Flags Magic Mountain or Six Flags Great America?
  20. For comparison, how tall is the ARM tower at Waldameer? ARM towers are great, and given Knoebels reputation, I'm sure they'll find some way to make this ride even better(although, from what I've heard, simply being in the park will make it so). To be honest, I'm surprised Knoebels didn't add a drop tower a long time ago.
  21. Well, that's a surprise. With an investment of nearly $500,000,000USD, and 40 rides, this will be a really impressive park. Is the park being built by a company that will pay Six Flags for the name and IP? Do Legoland's guests, and the future Six Flags, mainly come from Malaysia, Singapore, or other nations in the region? The park(s) are by Johor Bahru, but, despite being a sizable city, it seems like the market is now getting a little over saturated, even with Singapore right next door. Also, is there easy access to other cities in the region like Kuala Lumpur?
  22. I second Elissa's vote for Voyage. While the move would piss off a lot of people, I hate the ride, and I believe it would make better use as firewood and scrap metal. As for tearing down a ride just to piss people off, I vote for Millenium Force and Prowler.
