  1. ^I'm sure there will be people who are upset that it isn't as big as Raging Bull or something at CP(I once heard a guy say B:TR was a bad ride as it was short), but this is a park where S:UF still consistently pulls in 2+ hour waits. I think the train design, inverted drop, and keyhole elements are enough to make it a popular ride, and if not, well, less people in line in front of me.
  2. If this get's built, I'm guessing it will be similar to Resorts World Sentosa. Link Another article: Link
  3. I got 9/20, and probably 1/3 were guesses.
  4. Link In the slim chance it does happen, it would be cool to see a Disney park in the Philippines. It would open up a huge market in Southeast Asia, and I can see it doing very well assuming they open a full park instead of doing what they did in Hong Kong.
  5. Oh Merlin, you and your marketing...: Link
  6. I agree that the theming on X-Flight looks great, and the ride itself looks like the best wing coaster built so far. The layout is great, and it has some great speed through nearly the entire ride. Can you use the souvenir cups with the Coke Freestyle, and does it serve Beverly? I don't know how many machines there are, but the line to use them is probably going to be very long given how popular they have been.
  7. This ride is looking great, it doesn't look too intense, but it does look like a lot of fun. The first drop and the barrel roll are probably my favorite parts of the ride, and the theming, while less than other wing coasters, still looks like good for a regional park. Although, I have a feeling this will get lines like S:UF, so I don't think I'll be riding this much unless I have a flashpass. Airtime - Two weeks until I'll be riding this - &Gravity
  8. It definitely looks like one of the better newer B&Ms. Some parts looked like they lacked intensity, like the corkscrew, but others looked like they belong on an old B&M. The layout also looked great with an unusual element order, and the theming, while cartoony, looks great.
  9. Six Flags doesn't offer discounted admission after a certain time. If you want to pay less, the best thing you could do is use the discount on the back of a Coke can or join Club TPR.
  10. Smoothie King - Bowling for Soup
  11. I'm guessing that the train will be kept as the only removed track is in the vicinity of the construction. The brake run is really high, so there should be enough clearance for the train. If not, they could reroute it, although, at the moment I don't know where. The ride looks like a lot of fun, but it looks odd with its layout and location. It just looks odd with the layout looking like a lopsided "Y". That being said, layout wise, it looks like the most complete wing coaster, and it is amazing that they managed to fit it in the space available.
  12. Ravine Flyer is my third favorite wooden coaster, behind Shivering Timbers and El Toro. I was amazed at how well it was running when I rode it last year, especially after seeing how Voyage and Hades went to hell.
  13. 1. I'd recommend getting a degree in hospitality or business with electives geared toward the hospitality industry. You don't want to get stuck in a corner with limited options for your degree, so it's best to major in something that will allow you to find a career should your goal of working in the theme park industry not work out. 2. Many colleges seem to require internships, so I'd recommend seeing if you could do the Disney College Program as it. That way, you enter the program, and earn credit. I believe Disney also has professional internships, so if you can't enter the Disney College Program, you should try to get a professional internship when your done. 3. Try finding employment in other aspects of the hospitality industry, such as at a hotel, theater, etc.
  14. My list: Jack Rabbit - Kennywood - 1920 Thunderbolt - Kennywood - 1924 Racer - Kennywood - 1927 Cyclone - Lakeside - 1940 Little Dipper - Kiddieland - 1950 Comet - Waldameer - 1951 Wild Chipmunk - Lakeside - 1955 Blue Streak - Cedar Point - 1964 Cedar Creek Mine Ride - 1969 Galaxi - Indiana Beach - 1971 So, prior to my vacation to Kennywood/Waldameer, the coasters I had ridden were fairly modern(relatively speaking).
  15. Crawling in the Dark - Hoobastank
  16. I'm guessing you have flown into Taipei. Reasons: The Taipei 101 is there. I recently saw a story about Steve Jobs image being used in advertisements there. The Republic of China(Taiwan) also claims to be the legitimate rulers of the People's Republic of China which could fit the photo with the Oriental Pearl Tower as well as the travel guide.
  17. With the architecture and run down rides, Genting reminds me of old Soviet parks. The place just looks really depressing and run down, although the location looks great. If the place is really so popular, I'm going with the belief that the owners see no reason to invest in the place if they are still making so much money.
  18. Something similar to Cowabunga Bay might do well. I never went to Racing Rapids, but from what I saw of it from my trips to the park or driving by it(from the little you can see from the road), it looked really depressing. Cowabunga Bay has a giant play structure, lazy river, and an activity pool. Simple, but it looks great. Cowabunga Bay's Page in the Park Index Cowabunga Bay - Photo by Big Mike
  19. IAAPA has a nice article about the park. Link The owners seem like they know what they are doing, and their plans sound very reasonable. I did a project on this park back in 2004, and Phil Wenz told me that attendance peaked at around 500000 in the early 90s before falling to the then current amount of 100-150000 I believe. So, attendance of 300000 is very reasonable assuming they keep up the quality of the park. Airtime-Now if only they'll build a wooden warrior clone-&Gravity
  20. The layout is definitely unique, but as said, it seems to be missing something. Granted, they can only do so much given the location, but the ride is essentially just inversions after the drop. It just seems odd. That being said, while it is odd, I must say that it is one of the most creative designs I've seen.
  21. The Rye Playland Airplane Coaster is another example of coaster being demolished due to the intensity. I read in a book that the park switched insurance providers, and the new company would not cover the coaster due to the intensity. In addition to that, the book mentioned how neighbors upset with the park fostered a false rumor about a death on the ride.
