Looks like some really nice theming as usual will be going in to this park. Although, the mine train looks very unique in terms of theming. It looks to have an environmental/futuristic theme with the elevated green disks and the buildings in the area. It still looks very cool, but it looks like it will be eye-catching for reasons different than at the other parks. In fact, the whole area around the S&S coaster reminds me a bit of EPCOT. Why is New Jersey Made fun of?
Airtime&Gravity replied to coastercrazy 9's topic in Random, Random, Random
There are a lot of things, but the stereotype only seems to hold true around NYC, the Jersey Shore, and Philly. I actually thought central and northwestern New Jersey was really nice when I visited in 2007. We avoided Philly as we were going to be going through in rush hour, and just like NYC, northeastern New Jersey is hell. Central New Jersey is really nice though. It's actually fairly forested, and while still fairly urban, feels a world away from NYC. -

What's the worst station you've been in
Airtime&Gravity replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Iron Wolf - Really small and an eyesore to look at Beast - It seems like they tried to make something organized, but it didn't work out well when I visited. Screamin Eagle - Also small. The air gate waiting areas only hold a 2 train wait, which causes a confusing mess of people coming up the stairs and waiting in the station. American Eagle - Also small. The air gate waiting areas only hold a 2 train wait, which causes a confusing mess of people coming up the stairs and waiting in the station. B:TR(SFGAM) - Also too small for the lines it gets, and it can also get miserable waiting on a hot day due to the lack of air movement. A couple years ago, the station was so humid there was fog and the floor was soaking wet, and at first I thought there was a new fog/mist effect. -
I would hardly put Orlando in the Bible Belt, and even if it were, I doubt it would matter. Those that would get upset about this are already upset for other actions Disney has taken. Also, this is the first time they've themed a ride to a PG-13 movie? I guess it makes sense that they haven't before given their target demographic, but I was sure Indiana Jones was PG-13 (Wasn't IJ the first PG-13 film?).

Exactly, plus, unlike Harry Potter, an Avatar themed section probably won't rely on IP like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter does. The rides will be based around the movie, but it probably won't be too difficult to retheme should it ever come to that. If the IP doesn't work out, Disney can, with just a little work, turn it into just a fantasy/environmental land. Landover Baptist is a parody church.

Looking at Google Maps, there is a large open area between Everest and the Safari. The area doesn't seem to be of that much use with only some buildings and storage, so if this area is still like it appears, I'd guess that this new land will go there. It's a pretty big area, which if used, could allow for some impressive attractions.

^Six Flags doesn't own this park, Village Roadshow does. While small, these are good coasters for what they are. They are fairly cheap and are popular with the GP. I'm not sure what type of crowds WBMW gets, so capacity might be an issue, but this is still a solid addition. Although, I wonder, given the size of this coaster, if it was just bought to spite Dreamworld.

L.A. County Fair 2011
Airtime&Gravity replied to redmenace8's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I second in sending my condolences to you and anyone else who rode. If it were smooth, it might actually be fun as it has a neat compact layout, but it is just such a poorly designed and rough to the point that there is no fun in riding it. Airtime -You'd think having it be my first looping coaster would have kept me from being an enthusiast-&Gravity -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Adventure Express was fun, and I agree with the statements about it being one of the better mine trains. Most of the Arrow mine trains are pretty tame and boring, even by family coaster standards. Although, that guard tunnel is a huge letdown if you've never ridden it before. I was expecting there to be some drop for a finale, but no, it was just the brake run. With the awesome line up Kings Island has, a water park expansion seemed lie one of the most needed additions from my visit. The dry side has an awesome line up of rides, but the water park is on the small side with nothing to stand out, especially with another water park just down the road. This addition will be great in expanding the one area of the park that looked like it could use some help. -
^Unfortunately he is, and, perhaps more unfortunately, the good people of Massachusetts keep electing him. Goliath will make a great addition to the park, and should be welcomed by many in the public considering it's been awhile since SFNE added a major thrill ride. I don't see a problem with the name, and in my mind it fits considering how large it is. Plus, the name Goliath is more marketable and attention grabbing than Deja vu in my opinion. I see Flashback being relocated in the near future(I can see it at SFSTL, or even more so, up here at SFGAM.), so I don't see there being a problem with there being two Boomerang coasters. Plus, having them both there will keep people from confusing the two, which would probably have happened if Flashback was removed right now.

I wasn't expecting the drop tower to be placed on the side of Superman, rather, but I have to say, this looks like it will be a great ride. The view should be amazing, and considering how scary a 200ft tall drop tower is, this ride looks terrifying. Also, it looks like riders will have their vertical view blocked like the carnival style drop towers(forget the manufacturer), which is one of the more terrifying aspects of those rides given their height(should be even more terrifying on this). Now if only this drop tower would drop riders immediately upon reaching the top like those carnival ones.

I'm guessing it'll be something along the lines of Joyopolis, DisneyQuest, or GameWorks instead of a traditional theme park. It could be successful, especially if it's similar in scope to Joyopolis, but they're going to have to do a lot of work to separate themselves from similar attractions in the area.

I was worried that it would be a short ride with it going into the location it is and with the layout of Raptor and Swarm, but this looks like a really well designed ride. It looks like it has some great elements, and given their size to the height of the lift, hopefully they provide an intense ride, which doesn't seem to happen with Raptor/Swarm. One of the concerns I had when it was rumored to be a wing coaster was that there wouldn't be much to the ride, due to how large the elements were on the previous designs. Track is expensive, and I figured that whatever coaster was built, even if it was 3000ft long, would have few elements for a ride of its length. Great addition for Six Flags Great America, and I can't wait to ride it.

Was not expecting this, and when I read SFDK got a launched coaster, I assumed it was a clone of the mini Mr. Freeze built in Indonesia. This looks amazing, and totally messed up. I 'm not sure of the capacity though, because if they only run one car like the other X-Car coasters, I see this having really long lines. Great to see a concept coaster get built, and especially one that will grab people's attention due to it looking like one you'd see in a cartoon.

I'm not really surprised, as once parks see how well a design works, they usually start to build them it there aren't any serious problems. Now that it is pretty much all but confirmed to be a wing coaster, I'm interested to see how they fit it in the Splash Water Falls/Great American Raceway location as it looks too small for a coaster that has such a wide clearance. I'm not saying it's impossible, especially if it crosses over Demon and goes over by Southwest Amphitheater. Also, I hope they either come up with a thrilling design, or make a serious attempt to theme this. The designs we've seen so far, Raptor and Swarm, look okay(although Raptor looks really tame), but the themes look like they add a lot to the ride. If we just get a Raptor placed in a field, then I don't see many people riding once the newness factor wears off.

The Bag-Of-Crap Giveaway Thread!
Airtime&Gravity replied to ernierocker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Edit, forgot rules. Is the coaster themed to a movie involving Europe? -
I'm going with wingrider, as you can see the corner of the seat in the new piece removed. The edge of the seat seat has a sharp angle which matches the B&M wingrider, compared to the zac-spin which has higher and more curved seat edges. Edit: Forgot about the watermark, it's covering the edge I'm referring to.

^It's better to be safe than have New Orleans after Katrina. When emergency plans were being formulated, it was thought that it might be a Category 2 or 3 when it would hit NYC, which due to the population density and geography, would have been catastrophic.

I didn't think there would be room for a wing-coaster even with the removed antique cars. Has anyone heard anything about Dare Devil Dive being removed? It takes up a lot of space, although even then, I still have a hard time seeing a wing-coaster fit, but more could be done. Before Wes showed the photo edit, I thought it would be a zac-spin(before today's update I was going with euro-fighter), and even though the site is large, I had hope that SFGAM might get the first extended zac-spin instead of a stacked one like Insane or Green Lantern. Either way, it looks like SFGAM is finally getting that long awaited major coaster, and if it truly is a wing-coaster, it'll be interesting to see what B&M comes up with for the space. After all, I'm sure people had my opinion back in 91/92 when they heard a five inversion coaster was going to be built on the site of a shuttle loop.
