  1. I can really see the front (small) area being for flat rides and the small coasters they have there and making the back section a huge water park. JEFF
  2. Quite shocking I still can't figure out where in SFgram they would put it.(if those rumors are true) Chang is a massive coaster that takes alot of space and looking at the satellite pics, I do not think Whizzers location is big enough. I still think Chang is the best stand up. hopefully it moves closer to me (SFA) JEFF
  3. Thats a pretty intense video. I have a hard time blaming Intamin on this one though. Xcelerator has run pretty much daily since 2002 and thats alot of cycles. The ride has run perfectly fine up till last week. so thats over 7 years ago Intamin turned it over to the park and I believe it is the Park Maintenance Dept that is responsible for the cable's integrity. It is not Intamin's job to go out there and check it daily/weekly etc. Anybody think that it might not have been the cable? Maybe the pully collapsed or the cable tray cracked and frayed the wire at that speed. hell maybe the water was turned off to keep the cable tray cool. Just some of my thoughts, glad there were no serious injuries. JEFF
  4. OMG I was about to say, Well Corkscrew probably got damaged a little during the move but.......that is the original location. Wow! JEFF
  5. looks like we have our storage track up. first pieces of track. JEFF
  6. Actually there is one surprise in there. I thought for sure Diamondback would have won best new ride, But Prowler won. I am still pissed I missed riding this by one little operating day Also a little surprising El Toro is #3 in the wood, I guess all the work on Boulder Dash paid off! I can't wait to finally ride it in 3 weeks. JEFF
  7. /\Very cool, I like that Amusement today had some cool concept art from Schwarzkopf that I have never seen before. pretty interesting read too. http://www.amusementtoday.com/amusementparks.html about halfway down the page JEFF
  8. So you got on an Arrow for the first time expecting them not to have any Toomers? Wow, Chuck your a brave man and you lived to tell about it. JEFF
  9. /\ Thats odd Chuck, I thought DF had a few Toomer moments but was never really that bad, I think Anaconda is way worse as far as roughness. I think if DF was at almost any other park it would still be operating today. After my pass expires in November, I will not be going for a while probably till the new replacement coaster is built. I just can't justify the money especially when my son can't ride any coasters over 15ft there now (plus a little coaster is being built in Doswell that will monopolize most of my free time next year) JEFF
  10. a very depressing day. I am still a little mad about them closing it before the season ended. I thought maybe they would at least give us that. JEFF ...............
  11. Well I was there the last time she ran all 3 trains. I guess that will make up for not being there today. Thanks for the update on the day Chuck. did you stay till the end? JEFF
  12. Glad to hear you had a good time. I agree with your thoughts on Dominator, such an outstanding ride. Hurler is just such a mystery. Paramount & CF have done nothing to the ride. The biggest problem is the turns they have NEVER been fully retracked, a few times they replaced the top layer but that is it. CF made Rebel yell awesome this year, running better than it has in a long time, and same with Grizzly. JEFF
  13. BBW ran all 3 trains on Saturday, never went down either from what we could tell. line filled up about 75% of the que house most of the day. I am glad we chose Saturday to say goodbye. we got in alot of great night rides. JEFF
  14. I think regardless of the coaster, you are gonna look forward to your home parks new coaster more than any other. JEFF
  15. I love CP but another "soaker"? I think they would have been better off with a more traditional flume experience. I still love riding log flumes cause they do not SOAK you. Maybe I am getting old but if I want to be soaking wet I will be in a bathing suit, swimming or in a water park. Hopefully it is adjustable where they can keep the wetness to a refreshing cool down. JEFF
  16. Yea Chuck I would try to take the other one back and see if you could exchange it...the new one is much better. In case people did not know BGW is having a sale on ALL merchandise at the park 15% off (25% off for passholders) this weekend, Needless to say the wolf gift stand has been getting cleaned out. JEFF
  17. Goodbye ol girl Me and family and friends went to get some awesome last night rides on Saturday. She was running great as usual. good that they have built in to the announcement in the station that she takes her last ride on Sep 7. Also a few weeks ago they were selling cardboard replicas of the 25th anniversary sign for $20 which IMO was a ripoff but BGW made it right, yesterday they were selling a similar item but it is on a thin metal plate and about 18" in Diameter for $30 (22.50 w/ Season pass). It was a special night that I will never forget and I hope my son never forgets either. we got 7 rides last night. So long old friend JEFF goodbye
  18. Not that dead Labor day crowds are weird...usually Sunday is more crowded than Saturday but Volcano will have a huge line all day...hit Dominator in the middle of the day. Short line and they should be running 3 trains. JEFF
  19. BBW sure as hell does not feel like 48mph at the bottom of the big drop. (more like 65) RCDB really only gets their info from park/manufacturers press releases which I have found alot of older coasters to be misleading or just plain wrong. JEFF
  20. Tornado was a walk on the whole time we were there and Tornado is NEVER a walk on. If I am off, I am going to WCUSA tomorrow, I have not been there at all this year.
  21. Went up to KD today and have a few random pics from the park and some const. updates from I305. Gorgeous weather today and park was really empty...I think many people assume the park is closed during the week in September. Enjoy, JEFF The reason I am a coaster fan today Something you never ever see rode Americana for some cool pics Avalanche decided to go where IT wanted to go today (I did not edit this pic) I like this pic a good pic of Volcano more supports Brake run will be really steep The Monster foundations look to be down and the look to be still working on the big 45* foundation at the bottom of the lift. odd supports but this explains the odd connections of the track pics I posted on page 58 5 supports erected for the back turn (they are there somewhere=) ) Supports have gone up for the brake run/turn/brakes The BIG BOY has arrived in many pieces start things off with a geek shot! Cable wheels have been installed on all the lift track
  22. I think next time CF does a similar thing like this. They should build clones so everybody will be happy I don't understand where all this "these 2 coasters are competing" mentality is coming from. If they were named 2 totally different names none of this debating would be happening (well at least not this much). They are very differerent rides that look to be awesome in the fact that it looks like what they are designed to do they will do very well!!! I for one am really happy they are very different (other than the theme) I have not been to Carowinds since 2002 mainly cause it is VERY similar to KD, but with I232 I will go probably at least twice next year. JEFF
  23. I put up a big update on page 234 of this thread....I believe they are the most recent pics of track/const online (besides the webcam) JEFF
