Actually I think Volcano still has the highest inversion at 155ft Viper has a normal (Arrow) size loop but it is just high (140ft I believe) Dominator's loop is the tallest in the sense that the whole inversion is 135ft Similar to the fact that high roller at Stratosphere was the "Highest" coaster but not the "tallest" any of that make sense? The trains got a complete rehab, All new seats, pads, wheels and paint They are the same trains though. There is no more Batman/burned off logo The que area is not finished yet they still had alot to do with that. Today we entered through the emergency exit all day. JEFF

They were dispatching very well today, the only stacking was when a media person was explaining the ride to the camera. I noticed they have already begun painting the rails in certain spots but they are painting them Silver. Most of the run out rails were already painted. I am very surprised they have got as much done as they have. It has been the wettest spring in the last 50 years here in central VA It looked like they were going to resume painting immediately after the event cause a crane pulled up and they were prepping it at about 3, so we should see alot more done from now till Saturday. JEFF

Just to change things up I guess. I scoffed at first but I think it looks pretty good now. The loop was repainted yellow so it is not 8 year old paint JEFF

Today Kings Dominion had their media day for Dominator. Weather was calling for rain all day but the system moved through early in the morning leaving great weather (little cloudy) for the event. Big thanks to Kings Dominion for a great event with food, discounts and freebies. Dominator is just as good as it was in its old home, Even the familiar rattles from the Cobra roll and corkscrews were carried over. But the ride was running fast and furious and practically Brakeless. There is still some cosmetic work to be done, and it looks like they will finally have nice weather to complete it over the next few days. Went out to the park today. She is looking good but still quite a bit to do put a train on the tracks about 8pm, 10 min later ran it to the MCBR and left it there for at least 20 min. saw 1 more test run as we were leaving at about 10:10 here are a few pics JEFF Opens May 24! under the coaster out in these spots they used the spray on grass seed joking aside...good job CF! I can still see the parking spots, cant you? Entrance area is looking very nice, just look at all that asphalt!!!!! line jumpers stay home! It may very well be smoother and ride better since the trains went through a complete rehab with all new wheels. (we will find out in a week.) Plus it is only 30 min away as opposed to 8 hours, thats better in my book JEFF

I had to drive by the park today for work and they finished painting the loop today. I took a few pics from the road (didn't turn out that great) But the ride looks awesome. From what I could see from a distance. The lift track still needs painting as well as the turn above the station. here are a few crappy pics with my broken camera JEFF almost done with the paint lift lights are working

Cool report Chuck but I am still disappointed that they got rid of Lemon drop and the peppermint twist. That pool is big enough where they could have added more slides in addition to those. JEFF

I think it is great that they are doing this, but IMO if you want much more bids then it really should be 1st rides at media day and not 5 mins before everyone else on the 1st public day. An extra 64 people at media day is not much especially when most media types ride once. I might do it anyway but my wallet would be much more open if it was four days earlier. (not to mention it also advertises that CF is charitable) JEFF

Interesting how the 1st 2 cars are the new style chassis' and the rest of the train is the old (original) chassis with the bolted on seats. I wonder why that is. what is the reason the opening was delayed? hasn't finished testing? JEFF photo by newsplusnotes

I just saw a testing video from a cell phone from a friend that works there and GOOD news!. It appears the MCBR (for now) is on as light as it was at GL leaving the Awesome ending intact. Also for those going tomorrow (or tonight) from what I hear is they are painting till 5pm then testing resumes around 5pm. I believe VA requires at least 100 hours of testing. Depending on when I get home from work tomorrow I might head up there to get some pics & video. that is all, JEFF

Great pictures Will I am so depressed I am in a hotel ALL day 8 miles from Kennywood on opening day and the weather is crap and the forecast is for t-storms. oh well hopefully I will get this run again in the summer. Great photos of the whole trip too JEFF

Dominator actually had its first test run today! It should be doing its 100 hour testing phase by the end of this weekend. Getting closer! JEFF

The white is just a primer, The Vertical loop is Yellow and the rest will be Orange. I guesss they want to hype the "Largest Loop" and make it stand out. I am not sure how they are gonna paint the high Steel now, the cranes are gone and it seems like they only have a few Cherry pickers left. JEFF
