I was thinking about something regarding Big Dipper. What are the requirements for something to be a National historic Landmark? If it were to receive such status, they could not tear it down (but they do not have to operate it mind you) I Wonder if this is a possibility. on another note I hope they do move Villian, I think it would be a great addition (with new track and trains of course) to Carowinds or Worlds of Fun. A shame to trash a pretty good wood coaster. JEFF -

after some research, another coaster site listed it as 1200M which comes to about 3,973 feet which is close but just looking at the 2 it seems like Superman is longer....oh well JEFF -

They usually just modify (elevate or lower) the foundations to match the previous locations. but as you can see it was built on one elevation. Looking at the station without the cheesy Wayne manor theme. I hope we get a newer more open station design, otherwise that station will get very hot in the summer with only 4 small openings to vent the humid air out. edit: Another thing I was thinking about, I don't know if Dominator is still the longest. It seems like Superman in Madrid is a longer Floorless but the length is not listed in its stats http://www.rcdb.com/id1366.htm any body know the length of this floorless? JEFF -

I would rather have an 8 year old hand me down B&M than one that was designed today. If we got a custom one it would probably be along the same lines and size as Hydra. (fun but not thrilling). When I rode Dominator in late August it was still running Great and seemed to be maintained well. some Rattling but that seems to be normal on floorless coasters and inverts that do not have a full train. I am thrilled we are getting Dominator. Finally a good coaster with CAPACITY!! Location is a little weird but understandable. But I do think it will look fantastic when you come in the parking lot. (should get alot of ohhs and ahhs) I don't see it opening till June though since it seems they do not want any body around such an easily accessible construction site. and the markers on the "scooby doo hills" are just for Grading . I am fine with keeping the name (could be worse) Plus they have that big sign too (even though it is a dumb logo). It could really use a new paint job though. 8 years is a little long for a coat of paint. I REALLY hope they do not mess with the brakes though It has always run awesome with the 2 trims not being used and the MCBR on very light. Once again used or not it is a Great Coaster and I am very happy to have a world class unique coaster at home. JEFF -
With all these relocated coasters lately. I was just curious if anybody knows of a larger coaster to have been relocated. Usually it is arrow corkscrews, Vekoma Boomerangs and SLC's and a few Schwarzkopf's. It seems like every time a Large coaster was to be re-located in the USA it was scraped (Drachen Fire & Shockwave). Are there any larger coasters maybe overseas that I am not thinking of? JEFF

Also the newness to BPB is also a factor I think. Most teenagers especially have this view that since a ride is over 10 years old it sucks, just cause they have ridden it so much JEFF -
Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
pkdcoaster replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hershey has already squeezed in 2 big coasters. (SR & Bear) Hershey could easily find space for a Hyper and IMO is what they should have built next year but this does look like an exciting ride. I think it is amazing how they squeezed GB in that spot without any foundations in the creek. JEFF -
Are YOU a credit whore?
pkdcoaster replied to Purplepills's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I try and ride all the coasters a park has to offer. But I never go "Whoring" to like a Jeepers or something and pay for a kiddie coaster or something. It just seems like a big waste of time and money to me when most of them are clones of kiddie coasters at bigger parks. JEFF -

Hercules Question
pkdcoaster replied to slnewbus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I Do have an old home video POV (not mine)from 1989 but it is on VHS, in a box somewhere. Maybe if I am bored one day I will try and dig it out and convert it. I remember watching it and thinking Holy %$%^ The speed it took through the ride and that pop of air into the big turn over the lake looked crazy. For those that don't know, Hercules used to go ALL the way to the ground on the 1st drop then it had a mini hill going into the big turn. crazy! JEFF -

Thanks, They were not originally that bright. I usually use irfanview to add saturation to enhance the colors and it makes the pictures look much better IMO. Also forgot there are more pics here too- JEFF -

Friday August 24 (Day 3) A Little more crowded today (Friday and closing at 10) But Nothing like usual summer crowds. T-storms came through and closed the park at about 9 and we were lucky enough to be on the last set of trains dispatched on Maverick. It was so cool riding it with lightning coming down across the lake. I will always remember that. I went around and took alot of night shots too and I will post some of the best. Saturday we went into the park for 1 more ride on Maverick & MF then headed home. In Case you missed Chris' TR here it is with some more great pics- http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38391 If you want High Quality versions of these pics or to see ALL of the ones I took go here- Thanks to Chris, Erin, Ben & Rob for one Awesome trip Thanks for looking JEFF Some MF night shots one of my favs Right after our last night ride Awesome shot I Still love Magnum me Still the Best Drop -

Day 2 Awesome HOT!! day and light crowds Maverick 45min wait MF 10-15 min TTD 20min Everything else walk on to 2 train/cycle wait I still love this park for just the atmosphere alone and Nothing else comes close in my mind. Great ops, location, rides & coasters. It was pretty much a perfect day as far as everything goes in the park. here are pics JEFF and from the pier more to come we had this awesome view on thursday night Still my favorite inverted Chris is relaxed and ready, I am not too sure about Erin. Still very impressive 4 years later Way better than KK Lap bars make a HUGE difference Rob likes TTD Smoother than 2000 but not faster, still gorgeous though I got lucky on the train We all love it An excellent addition with a great fun & fast layout props to the train with my middle name -
Well, I Managed to get away with some great friends for a few days to go to Northern Ohio and We all had a great time. Day 1 Aug 22, 2007 Up at 3:30am for the long rainy drive up to Geauga Lake but Rain held off for almost all of our trip luckily. We got there at about 12:30 and headed straight to Dominator to get one last ride over the lake We were a little worried that only one train was operating on everything but they really didn't need more cause of nobody being on the ride side of the park. My last visit to GL was in 2000 right after the SF transformation and the park was lively, Colorful and packed. Now it just looks like they are going outta buisness. The area where Steel venom and X-flight were looks bad and especially the old water park, dirt would look better there. Dominator is still an awesome ride and I cannot wait to ride it again soon Villian was pretty good in the front but very rough in the back Big Dipper was Awesome in the front as well but a little rough in the valleys in the back I was very impressed with the Water park side, Not alot of slides but it looked great and it was obvious that that is where everyone wanted to be. None of us had ever been on a Tornado Slide before so we tried theirs out and it was great, such a cool and unique water slide. We left GL at about 4:30 and headed to CP, We arrived at about 6:30 and had 90 minutes at CP in August and got a ride on Demon Drop, MaxAir, front seat on Raptor, Back Seat on MF and Front seat on Maverick. (not bad) My first ride on Maverick was good but I thought kinda rough but that all changed the next morning. It was much smoother the next few days for some reason. (maybe I just knew what to expect). Here are the pics from GL. Day 2 coming soon JEFF Gulls love Pop Tarts. into the park next Weather did not look promising, but it veered north and we had an awesome beautiful 1st full day. our home for the next 3 nights I could not figure out why the shower water would not drain, found the reason. This is 1/3 of the mouse/hairball that I could wrestle out. haha some of us thought the log flume would be fun, oh look water cannons!!! hopefully we get a better logo My Favorite part I love the ending, still my Fav floorless ride em while you can Ohio

Cedar Point Coaster Trimming
pkdcoaster replied to CdnbMatt's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Mantis added trims after its first season cause of the pain in many riders legs after the ride. It was very intense but painful JEFF
