The Ultimate Question...Dew vs Yello
Robocoaster replied to Steveg1988's topic in Random, Random, Random
Mountain Dew is like crack; it's the real-world equivalent of Slurm (though Dew probably is an alien secretion as well). Not the drink Alien Secretion, made with rum, pineapple juice, midori, and a splash of grenadine (diabetes in a cocktail shaker, basically)... -

^^Hmmm. I wonder if that will function as the media day (pictures/promotions, etc) or if that will be separate (assuming they do a media day), cause I'd love to hear how to get in on that. It doesn't say anything about the winners agreeing to having their likeness used, blah, blah, blah... -

I'll echo the sentiment that the Twitter feed is a good idea, and brings the page past the 2004 mark. -

What was your favorite ride of 2013?

Kentucky Rumbler (couldn't get enough of that ride!) Tatsu Tower of Terror at DCA. Experienced an insane ride program that I previously hadn't. -
Best Roller Coaster you rode THIS MONTH!
Robocoaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
December's best goes to CalScream at DCA. It was that or SpMtn, and neither rock my world, but both are enjoyable. -
Done. Due to finally getting to Beech Bend as a side trip during HWN this year, Kentucky Rumbler moved into my top five wood coasters; love that ride! El Toro is still my fave coaster, and the battle for 2nd best woodie was close. But Phoenix's overall fun factor and reridability narrowly edged out Voyage's incredible intensity, for me. Last year was the other way around. Damn, I must be getting older... Is it late January yet??? No? Damn! Where's a TARDIS when you need one? -
I agree it would be fun; extra bonus points if they use Paul McGann's incarnation. While it would be nice to have an elaborate ride like Spidey, that might prove be too much money to put into such a cult product. If you are going to spend massive amounts of money for a new tricked-out dark ride and all the advertising/promo to go with it, the ROI has to be guaranteed. You'd have to confident that the ride would bring in swarms of people. Not sure you'd get that on such an endeavor stateside. I imagine we will see Star Trek based rides reappear before we would (if) ever see Doctor Who rides. On a side note; when thinking about possible themed rides we would like to see but have a very low probability, does anyone else want to see a dark ride themed to Buckaroo Banzai? Say, a dark ride that involves the World Crime League? Just me?

Truly awesome updates; thanks! As soon as they announce the first day it is open to the public, I'm calling out sick. -
When in Utah, or visiting Lagoon (redundant: why else would anybody visit Utah, for the quality of their alcoholic beverages? Skiing? OK, I'll give you that) be sure to visit the alpine slides and mountain coaster in Park City. If you're not sheepish and let your sled get up to a good speed, there are some decent drops on their older set (2 new, 2 older with different layouts for each set) where you catch decent air. Its a little freakish because I don't recall other slides I've ridden in Oregon and Colorado where you got more than just a hint of air. On the slides I mention, your cart will actually lift off the trough and be airborne, due to the steepest drops I've ever encountered on an alpine slide. The friends I was with who have ridden more alpine slides than me had the same reaction; caught us all by surprise. The mountain coaster was a blast as well; some extreme laterals if you floor it.

Photo TR: Coast to Coast (including Oregon!)

Nice pics! Did you go on the bumper cars at Oaks? They're some of the best you can find; yes, better than Knoebel's (IMO). What about the travesty that is Lewis and CLark? It is hands down the worst dark ride ever, lol! Completely incomprehensible. Oaks: the best bumper cars and the worst dark ride... -
NEWS: Wet n' Wild Las Vegas Announced!
Robocoaster replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not very impressed with the park, but it is better than nothing and it's not horrible. It needs a good, scary thrill ride. Nothing there is overly tall; the speed slides are about 45 ft high for example. The wave pool is tiny, at least compared to the old park; still, it produces decent waves. When I was there, no one was patrolling the tubes. People just grabbed them and hung onto them, lugging them to the next ride instead of returning them. And really, I couldn't blame them much. You have to stand in two lines per ride; one, to get the tube or mat, then the actual ride line. Lazy river has no waterfalls, geysers, etc. Boring, and you can only get in and out at one point. Zipp, Zapp, Zoom slide complex is unimpressive. The park badly needs more body slides, so those of us who don't want to wait forever for a tube have other options; hydrotubes would be nice. The animated flyover posted last October made the park seem bigger somehow, but gotta admit all the rides shown in the video did go up. The entry area does not have the troughs of water running overhead and splashing into little pools below, but hey so what; just noting the difference. On the plus side, the employees were friendly. I know they had gotten beat up; I heard about the opening and waited until the Tues after memorial day; the staff was in good spirits. Constrictor and Rattler are fun. There is good air to found on the matt racers, if you know how to position yourself; sucker can get you up to some good speeds going over the humps. Still, I think Cowabunga will end up being my preference next summer. -
I heard about Wet n Wild first, and I was amped. Vegas went way too long without a waterpark. The I started hearing about Cowabunga Bay; I was interested, but honestly more excited for WnW. Then I started to read up on the great reception of the Utah park; my interest was building. WnW revealed a few "firsts" (for the US, at least). It moved out into the lead. Then came news of the Polin Surfari going into Henderson; CB takes the lead! As I heard more details of the CB Vegas park, coupled with the high regard for the Utah park, I started anticipating visits to CB more than WnW. Now, it's like, Wet n what??? After the most recent updates, I am officially FAR more stoked for Cowabunga Bay. I have a strong suspicion that after the upcoming announcement, I'll be even more so. Looks like pure, undiluted, distilled awesome sauce! A big thanks for making this happen! Any chance you'll offer NightSlides, or some evening hours? When it's 100 at night in the summer, a waterpark visit would be perfect!

While not officially announced yet, Lagoon had added a place on their park map (online) for "Air Race, new in 2012". Like I needed a reason to return to what I already consider flat-ride heaven!
