  1. I rode it twice and both rides were very rough. If you ignore their stand ups, it's by far the roughest B&M I've been on.
  2. I'm always excited to see an update to this thread. So much detail and a ton of great pictures. It always brings back a lot of memories. Some day I'll get off my butt and do one of these.
  3. While it's fun to marathon the rides, the real reason for the event is to raise money for this great charity. You're still going to get a ton of rides in, regardless of their re-ride policy.
  4. I was in KC this weekend and passed by the park a couple of times. Steelhawk really stands out. Someone asked about testing... I didn't see anything going on, but like someone else mentioned it could be because they're installing the LEDs.
  5. I finally got around to signing up this afternoon. I also created the WoF team page, so if anyone would like to join, here's the link: support.gktw.org/site/TR/CoastingForKids/General?team_id=1813&pg=team&fr_id=1240
  6. ^Disney actually does a lot of advertising with their rides/pavilions. It's not as obnoxious as the train wraps, but Disney definitely makes money off of outside companies. Just off the top of my head: Siemens - Spaceship Earth GM - Test Track HP - Mission Space Kodak - Imagination Pavillion Used to be Nestle, now it's Chiquita - The Land Coke, IBM, Velcro - Innoventions I know there are more, and I guess these are just in Epcot, but it's hard to go anywhere at WDW without seeing some sort of advertising.
  7. Finally confirmed that I'll be attending the event at Worlds Of Fun. I'll probably sign up today, and while I'm doing it I can create the Team TPR page.
  8. I've only been to KD twice, and both trips were within the last 2 years. I've always thought the park was pretty sterile, but had some great rides. With that said, I love what they've done! It's amazing what an investment in paint, theming and just giving the park some love has done! I can't wait to get back there in May to see all of this.
  9. It's definitely in a "dead" area of the park. They needed to put something over there to attract people. While I'm not a fan of these rides, I'm guessing most guests will be interested in riding it. The go karts were never a draw, so getting rid of them was a smart move.
  10. ^ Shouldn't be much longer. I'm pretty sure the opening date is around May 1st. I'm hoping I get to ride it when I'm down there the last week of April!
  11. 10 donuts in my Mystery Box today!
  12. Looks like a lot of fun. I'm glad you only posted 1 of the creepy doll pictures.
  13. Yes, it can get pretty nasty in the St. Louis area in the summertime. They should welcome a visit from Mr. Freeze in August. I was actually very comfortable out during the TPR visit last year, which was a welcome change from the sweltering heat in Texas. Mr Freeze is definitely a great ride. ^That was extremely rare for that time of year. Typically STL is just as hot and humid as our Texas portion of the trip was. The Midwest had a very mild summer last year.
  14. ^ That's a pretty accurate description of some of the Anton fans I know.
  15. A lot of great advice from CoasterBill. I'll just add a couple of things. At Hershey, I always do Farhenheit, then Storm Runner, then head to the back of the park.Farhenheit can be a brutal line. At Dorney, do the Wild Mouse first thing in the morning. That will be by far the worst line of the day if you don't. Everything else is usually a walk-on, or a very short wait.
  16. I've been to SFGAdv, SFGAm, SFOG, SFOT, SFFT, SFStl, SFMM and SFNE. Here's how I'd rank them: 1. SFGAdv - I just love their collection of coasters. I'd put it up against any park in the country. 2. SFGAm - A great variety of rides and coasters. Pretty decent theming as well. It's always really clean, and the ride ops do a great job here. This was my "home" park growing up. Hoping Goliath will give the park its first must ride roller coaster. 3. SFOG - I've only been here once, but I really loved this park. Goliath is my favorite B&M Hyper, and everything else is a nice compliment. You can tell that this is one of the original parks, because there's actual theming. I need to get back here. 4. SFFT - I was really surprised by this park. If Iron Rattler had been open, I'd probably rank it higher. One of the coolest settings for a park that I've seen. 5. SFStl - It's a nice little park. They need a marquee ride to really put it on the map, but American Thunder, Mr. Freeze and Screamin' Eagle are all fun rides. I've actually had good luck with The Boss the last 2 seasons as well. 6. SFMM - Lots of roller coasters, but none of them are really "great". Tatsu is the best flyer I've been on, but beyond that, there's nothing here that really blows me away. Note - X2 has been closed both times I've visited the park. 7. SFOT - TPR had a bad day here last summer. I'm going back in May, so I'm hoping to have a better time. No NTAG or Shockwave last time I was there put a damper on things. I actually thought the park was pretty nice, but the employees were terrible and the park just seemed like it was in a funk following the NTAG accident. 8. SFNE - Not impressed. Mind you, I'm 6'6", so I wasn't allowed to ride Bizarro, Mind Eraser or Goliath (which was closed the day I was there anyway). I think I spent about 3 hours in the park. It was a very disappointing visit, and I'm not sure that I'll ever go out of my way to visit the park again.
  17. ^^ Yep. For someone reason I was thinking that it was considered the most successful game of all time due to it's cheap development and huge sales. I can remember downloading the demo in college and playing it over and over again. My friends always gave me crap about it, but after trying it out, several of them ended up buying the game when it came out because it was so much fun. None of them could have cared less about roller coasters, either.
  18. The park looks great, as usual. Just a little over 2 months until my Memorial Day trip to BGW/KD. Can't wait to get back to one of my favorite parks! Do you think BGW will be busy that weekend? I'm assuming it will be, especially since it's the first weekend of their Food and Wine Festival. I'm thinking Sunday might be a better day to visit than Saturday.
  19. Same here. Rode it for the first time last year, had a little bit of an issue. After that, no issues during our ERT. Do people get on a ride and sit there like a rag doll?
  20. ^ The way your luck has been going, it will be a bench full of donuts.
  21. New shin guards?!? That makes me very happy. Hoping I can get to SDC again this season to try them out!
  22. ^ Whew. I'm 6'6". Not sure when I'll get back to KI, but at least I can ride Banshee next time I'm there.
  23. If you did this itinerary, I'd suggest doing Knoebels first, then Dorney. You'll be doing a lot of backtracking if you're going to do Hershey/Dorney/Knoebels/SFGAdv in that order. If you do Hershey/Knoebels/Dorney/SFGAdv you'd at least always be moving west to east. ***Edit: Raptor6 beat me to it!
  24. ^ I agree with most of this. I'd probably move Hershey to later in the trip, right after your Dorney/Knoebels day. No sense in driving to Hershey, then SFGAdv when you can hit it on your way out of Pennsylvania. Honestly, I think Knoebels deserves a full day. Last year I did a trip similar to this, and here's how I did it: - Day 1 - Flew into DC and drove to Harrisburg, PA that evening. - Day 2 - Knoebels - Day 3 - Hershey - Day 4 - Dorney, then drove to Springfield, MA - Day 5 - SFNE - Day 6 - Lake Compounce (wanted to hit Quassy, but it wasn't open that day). Drove to SFGAdv - Day 7 - SFGAdv - Day 8 - Drove to hotel in Doswell, VA (had planned on SFGAdv in the morning, but it was pouring) - Day 9 - BGW - Day 10 - Coasting for Kids at KD. - Day 11 - KD in the morning, flew out of DC that evening.
