Top/Favorite Hyper Coasters
chickenbowl replied to boldikus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I only ask because it's up to the discretion of the user. If Goliath (SFOG) is a hyper [200' height with 175' drop] then so is Lightning Rod [206' lift height, 165' drop], unless it needs to be height above ground directly below track. In that case, neither Phantom nor Apollo are hypers... It's all just a bit convoluted. Or you can look at it being in the style of a "hyper coaster" - Tall, usually non-inverting that primarily focuses on large hills? That's if you want to include Goliath (La Ronde) or Steel Eel, which are both well-below 200' but have the character of a hyper. But that definition would include Gigas too... Either way, I think most enthusiasts typical favorite steel coasters fall into some type of loose "hyper" definition depending on how you limit it. I think this topic will basically be the same as a "Favorite Steel Coasters" thread. With just less Maverick. -

What defines a hyper exactly - Height over 200'? A drop over 200'? -

Steel Dragon 2000 - Was only open for about 30 mins during my 4-hour visit to the park. Valravn - Was only open for ~1 hour all day when I was there in June. Luckily I had fastlane and skipped the 2-hour line. -

Shut up. Seriously. It's a simulation, not every detail needs to be there. I know what you are speaking about but it does not matter. This is an awesome coaster coming to a new park in a country with practically no good rides. Look at what matters. WTF? Chill out, man. He's not even complaining about anything, just speculating on what track they'll use. -

A "moment"? That hill looks like it will sustain ejector for a little longer than a moment! -
Three closest parks near you

1. SeaWorld San Diego (I can see it from my apartment!) 2. Belmont Park 3. Mundo Divertido in Tijuana, Mexico! (Going into Mexico is always faster than coming back) 4. Legoland (also really close) -
Fixed that for ya. Even if you count topper track as wooden (which I don't, I know I know... dead horse), half the structure is still held up by steel. Ehh, it's a wooden coaster... simple as that. I don't care about the structure, just the track - Which is clearly wooden. Ummm. . . Looks like steel to me. . . Ummm. . . Looks like wood to me. . .

"Best coaster on the planet?" I feel like that's a bit extreme. Sure the coaster looks amazing, but it does not my any means look like it could be the best coaster on the planet. That being said, I do love the new trains, and the two "splash" downs. It's pointless to say my opinion is wrong. I know it's stupid to even judge a ride like this way before it's open - But as far as the elements go, it looks near-perfect to me. Take a look at my top-5 steels in my signature to see what types of coasters I like. I simply think this coaster has the potential to be my favorite coaster. I know where I'm going to in 2018 to find out - Let's wait and see. After watching the video multiple times, I still think it looks like an Intamin greatest hits ride. I see style similarities to so many of my favorite coasters (El Toro, I305, Skyrush, Millennium Force, Maverick). After hearing how comfortable Taron's restraints are, I'm sure these new trains will be great as well. -
According to rcdb - Longest coaster in the world: Steel Dragon 2000 Longest wood coaster in the world: Beast Tallest coaster/largest drop in the world: Kingda Ka Largest drop on a wooden coaster: Goliath I've also ridden: - 9/10 tallest coasters in the world - 7/10 fastest coasters in the world - 7/10 longest coasters in the world

OH MY FUCKING GOD I LOVE the new 4-across trains - Almost like Intamin's version of the "B&M hyper" trains. Overall, this layout looks like they're mixing the amazing huge airtime hills of coasters like Skyrush and El Toro with some of the crazy low-to-the-ground stuff of I305 and Maverick! This seriously looks like it could very well be the best coaster on the planet... I pledge to make it to Poland in 2018! -

I will buy plane tickets to poland if they choose the Intamin model... Well looks like we only have less than an hour left -
Could you post a link to where you read it? EDIT: I think I found the link I think the track pieces they see are similar to Mean Streak in that it's deconstructed old track, not new RMC track. If construction is truly taking place and they're being careful enough to remove track sections, I think it's fair to say they aren't doing full demo and they found some use for the structure!

Is the Breakwater Cafe open during winter? If it's open maybe some Ohio people could grab a bite to eat and relay to us what they see when they drive by? EDIT: I also just read a report that track is now 1/4th the way up the lift. -

Happy Valley Chongqing Goes Vertical
chickenbowl replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As this will open in late 2017 this will actually be the second to open of five. There is Parrot Coaster at Ocean Kingdom already open and the one at Hotgo Park which is built but won't open until 2018. There are then two more at Wanda Wuxi and Colourful Yunan which havent gone vertical yet and open in 2018/19. Gutterflower, I want to thank you for compiling all this info. These projects are so obscure to us so it great that you're keeping track! Where do these images usually come from?
