  1. Cool! I clearly misinterpreted what you meant in your original post - I thought you were saying it's dumb to go to new places. I have nothing against revisiting parks I like - I am revisiting Dollywood this Summer too!
  2. https://rcdb.com/13597.htm I went off the rcdb listing when making this. I don't know if I necessarily agree, but I (and many others) take that site as the standard
  3. out of but OK. Lol, were in the "How many North American Wooden Coasters" thread... not the "How many pathetic kiddie coasters" thread. Input wooden roller coasters for where he wrote "credits".
  4. You said "hitting Coney again" which I thought implied that? Let me repeat, You can visit theme parks however you want, I don't care. But I'll call you out for being dismissive and close-minded when you say "the whole idea [of riding new coasters and visiting new parks] seems dumb to me because I already go to the best parks." And regarding that last sentence - what? I never claimed to have a right way to do anything, I was showing how backwards OPs logic is. I was not even defending counting credits, just defending the idea of visiting new places and not judging them without trying them You really didn't understand my point... Reread my posts and see if you can figure out my sentiment. PS - We're talking about wooden coasters here, not kiddie coasters. I wouldn't even consider it 'credit whoring' to seek out rare, one-of-a-kind wooden coasters - A type of coaster that doesn't even make up 5% of the world's operating coasters...
  5. You're missing the whole point of my post, dude. He said he doesn't want to go to NEW places or seek out new rides because he's already been to "the best" parks so has no need. In your anecdote, you've already been to Coney Island, so it's irrelevant to what I'm saying at all. My point was that not visiting NEW parks because the parks you already go to are "the best" is flawed. My point is to have an open mind to places you haven't visited... It's the same mentality Cedar Point fanboys who only go to Cedar Point because "it's better than everywhere else," yet haven't been to any other parks to make that judgement. Of course there's a lot of trash kiddie credits that some weirdos feel the need to seek out, but you shouldn't discredit every other theme park because your two home parks are "the best." Unless, or course, you've traveled as much as Robb/Elissa and can actually say that. EDIT: You can visit theme parks however you want, I don't care. But I'll call you out for being dismissive and close-minded when you say "the whole idea [of riding new coasters and visiting new parks] seems dumb to me because I already go to the best parks"
  6. So you don't even want to go to new parks and ride new coasters?.. Really? You say you go to the "best parks" -- but how would you know they're the best if you haven't been anywhere else? I can guarantee there's plenty of parks (even in the US still) that are amazing that you're skipping over. To be honest, your philosophy of theme park visiting is condescending and "seems dumb to me."
  7. I've ridden 56 (90%) North American and 62 (60%) B&Ms overall! I feel lucky to have been on that many! Hopefully I can snag a few of the European ones when I go out to visit those parks!
  8. That's really good! - Can I ask which one's you're missing? (Other than the 3 that haven't opened obviously )
  9. Here's one more fun challenge - To see how many B&M's you've ridden! Take the survey to see how many of the 101 operating B&M Coasters you have ridden in the world? ...And because I know a lot of members here haven't left the continent, this one's a little easier: How many of the 62 operating B&M Coasters have you ridden in only North America? Note: If you've ridden the exact coaster at the previous location/incarnation, COUNT IT -- Because I didn't list them twice! (Vortex = Patriot, Mantis=Rougarou, Orochi=Monster, Led Zeppelin=Dragon's Run, Chang=Green Lantern, etc.) Note pt. 2: I chose to leave off the Chinese B&Ms supposedly opening in 2017, cause who knows when those will actually open...
  10. I got 57! (45%) I love wood coasters so much and I feel like I'm severely lacking a large part of North America's substantial collection. I think I need to spend some time combing the MidWest and Pennsylvania for the majority of the coasters I'm missing. Also, it bums me out that Mexico City's wood coaster was closed last March when I visited...
  11. http://www.listchallenges.com/every-north-american-wooden-roller-coaster-in-2017 126 Wooden Coasters will be operating in 2017 in North America (Organized chronologically from RCDB) - Click on this List Challenge to see how many you have ridden!! (I put in the three 2017 coasters so people can update through the season and this list won't become obsolete in a couple months)
  12. Here is a fun challenge to take! How many have you ridden? While I do think the GTA is extremely inaccurate at ranking the "Best" roller coasters in the world, I think it's fun to see how many you've been on! I've been on 59/100. Not too bad, but I'm still pretty far off from riding them all!
  13. ^ Great pictures! Can you confirm if they are still aiming to open Drop Line and the Kiddie coaster around Memorial Day?
  14. Because people here take screamscape as gospel
  15. 1. What is the farthest distance you've traveled to specifically visit a theme park? Happy Valley Shanghai is 6,600 miles away from San Diego, but I was in the city for work. I suppose La Ronde in Montreal would be the furthest place I’ve travelled specifically for coasters, being 2,470 miles from San Diego. 2. Your favorite coaster in the state you live in? Twisted Colossus! But Joker is not far behind! 3. Would you rather wait in line for a boomerang (at any park) or a VR coaster @ a Six Flags? Today I’d take a stupidly long VR line for Goliath at La Ronde or Superman at SFNE. But I still hate VR. 4. Have u ever been the only person in a train during a coaster ride? Yes, Goliath at SFMM during WCB in 2011! 5. What is your favorite thing to do at your home park that does not involve riding something? Grabbing a beer and riding the Bayside Skyride at SeaWorld San Diego! 6. Better time for ERT: Early morning or late night? Late night ERT after a long hot day so the coaster is nice and warmed up! (I’m talking to you Phoenix and El Toro!) 7. Name some theme park food that *sounds* gross, yet is oh-so-delicious? Hmm, can't think of one 8. Name your top three "bucketlist" coasters you have yet to ride. I have this one prepared! -Lightning Rod -Energylandia 2018 Intamin Mega! -T Express (H.M. to EGF, iSpeed, and Wildfire!) 9. Have you ever been E-Vac'd? Did you receive anything if you did? Yes, on the final brake run of Primeval Whirl! They gave me an exit pass that I used for the other side! I’ve also been E-Vac’d from Sidewinder at Hershey. The train didn’t release from the first lift and it slowly lowered back into the station after 10 minutes. 10. What is the longest length of time you've waited for a coaster? 2 hours for Goliath at SFGAm probably. Maybe Grigotts at USO? I don’t usually wait longer than an hour for anything. 11. Worst flat ride ever. Name it. Kinda hate Inatmin Looping Starships - like at KD, BGT, and CGA. The restraints kill my chest. 12. Your favorite SWEET treat at a park that is NOT your home park. Easy answers, Dollywood Cinnamon Bread, Disney Dole Whips. 13. Congratulations! After aggressively gambling on the Plinko game you finally won a front of the line pass. Which ride do you use it on? Depends on the park. A low-capacity credit? The best coaster there? 14. If you could have a lifetime fast pass to ONE attraction what would it be? Phoenix. I think I would be able to enjoy that coaster until my dying days. 15. Have you ever been next to someone that puked on a coaster? Nope 16. Your home park is getting a new B&M and YOU get to pick what type. Do you want an invert/hyper/dive/floorless/flyer/wing/standup? All of the above is not an option. SeaWorld San Diego B&M Hyper! First of it’s kind on the West Coast! 17. Name your favorite Vekoma. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster? Expedition Everest? Space Mountain CA? 18. What water ride delivers the most unacceptable amount of wetness? Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges at Islands of Adventure… Jesus. 19. If you were able to help design a coaster would you want it to focus on airtime or inversions/positive G's? Airtime with a heavy dose of pacing and quick transitions! 20. Most comfortable trains/seats for a coaster are... Space Mountain WDW, Manta SD, any B&M Hyper! 21. Choose one: Unlimited front-of-the-line access to your favorite coaster at your home park for one season OR $1,000 cash? I’ve been on Manta so many times, I’d take the cash! 22. You just got drowned by a flume/rapids/chute-the-chutes. Do you pay the $$ for the dryer machine or do you continue on with your day trudging around like soggy dog? Try to dry off. I hate having wet socks and underwear. 23. What is the worst food you've had at your home park? Stale popcorn. 24. You're at Cedar Point. You have a one hour ERT session on ONE coaster of your choice. You choose... Easy, Maverick 25. Favorite (non-clone) dark ride? I can’t choose Indiana Jones, Spiderman, Tower of Terror, or Haunted Mansion? Does Space Fnatasy at USJ count? Maybe Monster Manor at SFOG? haha 26. What was your favorite park you visited in 2016? Cedar Point, Universal Japan, or Dollywood 27. What's your current credit count? Don't be shy. 439 28. Winner winner chicken dinner! You just won a trip with hotel and airfare included. The catch is its only good for Six Flags America or Mt Olympus. Which do you choose? SFA! I want to ride that Intamin mega! 29. What is the best Intamin coaster you have ridden? Intimidator 305 closely followed by Maverick Skyrush and El Toro! 30. Your home park has to remove one coaster and one flat for an expansion. Which two rides would you be OK with losing? JTA and one of the Sesame Street kiddie flats 31. Song/music you've heard playing at a park that absolutely has not business being played in a theme park? I heard a song at Nagashima Spaland that was in Japanese until the chorus which repeated in perfectly clear English, “Dance like a mother fucker” 32. There's 5 minutes before the park closes. You choose to: Reride your favorite coaster in the park, OR get the new kiddie/junior coaster credit? Depends on how good that coaster is and if I’ll ever get back to that park! Probably reride though! 33. Do you visit the waterpark if it's connected to the amusement park? Hardly ever. 34. What 2017 addition are you most looking forward to? Lightning Rod but really, I don’t know if I’m riding any new-for-this-year coasters. Mystic Timbers looks the best in the US though. 35. What was the most disappointing addition to your home park in the past 10 years? I’ve actually been quite pleased with the growth of SWSD this past decade 36. The most overrated coaster ever is... Easily X2 37. What ride makes you wanna vomit? Top Spin-type rides 38. What is the best consolation prize you've won at a games booth? N/A 39. And the worst? N/A 40. End this questionnaire by posting a picture of your favorite light package (coaster/flat).
  16. I don't think this was ever posted here, but a few day's ago, Tony snapchatted a picture of Mean Streak:
  17. Cedar Fair doesn't build any new coasters because Dorney has low attendance. Dorney has low attendance because Cedar Fair doesn't build any new coasters.
  18. Millennium Force is a wonderful coaster. It does a couple of things extremely well (never slowing down, length, that drop), but it isn't balanced with enough airtime or intensity during most of the layout to even make it into my Top-15 Steel coasters. There's just too many other Intamins and RMCs that have better airtime/intensity than Millennium Force! I've actually had the privilege of riding every Giga and I'd rank as follows: 1. Intimidator 305 (#1 steel!) 2. Fury 325 (#6 steel) 3. Millennium Force (#16 steel) 4. Leviathan (#19 steel) 5. Steel Dragon 2000 (#26 steel)
  19. Can you confirm that? I hope you're right as I'll be visiting in late April. But like dstephe9 said, On Jan 7 at an ACE event, Pete Owens said that both Drop Line and Whistle Punk Chaser are scheduled to open around Memorial Day.
  20. Name doesn't matter - I'm positive this will be a fun little coaster! I like that Orlando will have two matching small wood coasters by different companies!
  21. ^ Kinda, but different. Infinity coasters have a slightly different seat/train configuration than Eurofighters. Hydrus' cars will be most similar to Iron Shark
