  1. A comment so nice, he posted it twice! I was simply helping explain the original poster's mentality. Of course I disagree with it, because then every B&M Hyper and Mack Mega become "floorless" as well.
  2. Wildfire's trains are vastly different than every other Sitdown B&M. The seats are higher off the floor and your feet don't come close to touching it. It feels different than Kumba and Hulk. Wildfire's trains are probably closest to a B&M Hyper - Just with different restraints. But if you go by that definition, then every B&M Hyper is floorless too...
  3. Is Hair Raiser really that bad?!
  4. Firstly, I feel like 2018 was "confirmed" in the Christmas video. But no this article doesn't confirm anything, they're speculating as much as we all are, there's no sources cited. They didn't even get all the facts right. Outlaw Run doesn't have 4 inversions, nor is it the 4th fastest wooden coaster...
  5. Wait a second... Cedar Point would never announce a ride this far into the off-season - DID THEY EVEN THINK ABOUT SEASON PASS SALES?!
  6. Premier restraints are awful either way if you have any semblance of long legs. But I suppose they're less awful without OTSRs bashing your head/neck.
  7. Maybe. But I don't remember anybody discussing a children's wood coaster, family suspended coaster, or a launch coaster so I thought it would be worthwhile to bring it up.
  8. I saw this posted on reddit. "Offical Plan" put out by the park at a Town Council Meeting. Anybody know more? It's got: - 4 COASTERS! Including Kiddie wood, family steel (Vekoma family invert), B&M Hyper (!!!), and Launch coaster (Intamin Impulse) - A ton of new waterpark upgrades including a new entrance, a water coaster, a capsule slide, and more! - New Flume - New Starflyer and new slingshot
  9. I love that little hops on the bridge over the river in the forest! I'm sure once the trees start filling out again, it'll be one of the coolest settings for a coaster!
  10. I LOVED this park! I'm glad you guys had a great time!
  11. THIS!! I don't get why so many people are complaining about this new coaster. 1.) It's a new coaster, be happy. 2.) These coasters are a LOT of fun. They are very re-rideable, they are pretty intense, and the backwards launch is surprisingly powerful. Yes, I'm pretty sure we would all have loved to see the park getting a 1,500ft tall, 300mph, spinning, inverted, Intamin Aquatrax, but that didn't happen. However, that doesn't change they fact that this is still a great coaster, and it's going to be a great addition to the park. Meh, they're fine rides - Nothing amazing about them. I didn't feel any urge to ride Phobia more than once - And I skipped Superman on my visit to SFDK last month. I'm really not a fan of the uncomfortable, new-generation Premier trains. I think my legs are too long for them. An SRII is still better than Full Throttle though. I get why SWSD went with one though. 150 ft, 60 mph, an inversion, "triple-launch", tiny footprint, very marketable, and half the price of a full-sized coaster. That's a pretty easy choice for a park to make. I think the real thing to look forward to is SeaWorld's huge new area that this will complete. They're essentially upgrading 25% of the park. A part that was pretty dead until now.
  12. I'm glad my home park is finally getting a 100 ft+ coaster with inversions - I just wish it was something I could get excited about...
  13. As an Engineer, I think one reason for steel would be the ability to construct larger spans. If you look here, You can see that the lift needs to bridge both Le Scoot and two train tracks. That's a lot of distance, and I'm sure it's easier to built a steel structure that can handle those forces than a wooden one. And after that, they probably didn't want to leave steel just in one section like that, so they made it aesthetically consistent everywhere else, maybe? Zeus looks kinda weird with only a little bit of steel structure to span Cyclops. I'm sure there's more reasons, (less bulky, but stronger structure and less wear and tear in a humid climate is why I think Fun Spot went with steel on their GCI and new Gravity Group) but I think the large spans would be the main one.
  14. It's the worst new trend. People really have nothing better going on than riding coasters in 30 degree temps? Do an actual winter sport. That's an unpopular opinion for a theme park enthusiast community, lol.
  15. If Cedar Point wanted it, RMC would design it. I'm sure they would. But a launch would need the capability of rolling back. You'll see that with any rolling/inclined launch, there's a flat section (block section) at the base of the launch where the train can sit if rolled back (Look at Lightning Rod). This doesn't have that. If it was launched, I'm positive that little hop wouldn't be there.
  16. (Don't forget) And launched!! Not with those prelift hops it won't.
  17. Now that we're kinda on the subject, I'd rank the Gigas (I've ridden) as follows: 1. Intimidator 305 2. Fury 325 (Both top 6 steel) ... 3. Millennium Force 4. Leviathan 5. Steel Dragon 2000 (These last three sit between 16-26 steel)
  18. And that certainly didn't stop BGW even 3 years after installing Verbolten. I really would LOVE to get something other than an SRII, but I simply can't see a 150ft coaster that would fit in such a space that isn't that.
  19. Agreed. Adding a coaster of this magnitude is pretty impressive for this traditionally family-centric park - I can't complain about a new coaster in my backyard! Although, I do hope that they realize some of the potential capacity issues and opt for the dual-loading platform like the Zombie ride in Mexico. Follow up: How has capacity been for Tempesto - Are lines longer than other coasters? I don't know, maybe? That layout definitely isn't 150 ft though.
  20. I emailed the city project manager for more information and received this in response. The specs line up perfectly with a Premier Sky Rocket II (Tempesto) - "150 feet", "compact roller coaster", "inversions". Tempesto's ride footprint IS smaller than "two acres" in layout (0.3 acres, according to Premier's website), but with all the other buildings, aquarium, etc, It could make sense. Being a selfish enthusiast who doesn't love Sky Rocket II's, I kinda hope I'm wrong about this. But even so, a 150ft, 65mph, inverting coaster for a park like SeaWorld San Diego is only a great thing! I'll be sure to get any more info at the public hearing on Jan 3rd.
  21. If you enjoyed Nitro before then you'll probably still enjoy it. It's not like the ride has deteriorated over time (aside from the paint job), it's running as well now as it ever has. Personally I think it's a perfectly middle of the road B&M hyper. It's a fun ride, it won't make any top 10 lists but I'm glad to have it in my home park, especially during Holiday in the Park. The problem being that I rode it when I was like 14 and it was one of my first coasters, and since it was the best experience I've ever had on a coaster back then I feel like my expectations will be way too high. But yeah, if I go in knowing that it may not be as fun as it was in 2013 (I think) I will probably still like it a lot. Thing to note is also that every new hyper I've ridden I've liked less than the previous one, so that could point to me not enjoying them as much, or it's just a coincidence. I hope so. That's a very similar experience I had with Diamondback. Growing up in California, we didn't have a real airtime focused coaster until 2015, so when I finally travelled out of state in 2010, Diamondback was the first airtime coaster I rode - And it was magical for me. It brought my fandom to a whole other level! I only revisited Kings Island this past summer, and in the past 6 years I've ridden a LOT more airtime coasters, so I was fully expecting Diamondback to be lamer than I remember - I was wrong! Diamondback was still a ton of fun and it's still in my top 15!
