  1. Disneyland is the most authentic Magic Kingdom park, it would be smart to keep it that way I think. As for other Magic Kingdom parks, get as modern and innovative as they possibly can! I hate that argument. I would be THRILLED if Disneyland re-did the castle and hub to not make a giant clusterf*ck for fireworks and parades.... Disneyland is currently my least favorite park because it's packed way beyond it's designed capacity. Shoehorning in extra attractions doesn't help when the main walkways were never expanded. I agree, but it's really hard when the park is centered around nostalgia. People would flip their shit if the park re-built the castle.
  2. Well Steel Dragon's track is vastly different than any Arrow. Steel Dragon has external wheel assemblies (like B&M and most modern steel coasters). This configuration is different than any internal assemblies found on every other Morgan or Arrow coaster. B&M has never developed trains with an internal wheel assembly, unless you count Psyclone at SFMM.
  3. If you're this offended about what one person thinks about your cargo shorts then I'm not sure it's the people who think they're inherently lame that need to reevaluate... (Side note: nobody said you couldn't wear them - they're just ugly. Practical? Sure. Brutal? Absolutely.) This is fun. I love the off-season. We need to skip wearing marginally dorky cargo shorts and just upgrade to full-blown-ultra-dork-trademark-ACE fanny packs!
  4. Pretty sure this is where that info came from. No idea if this ACE guy is credible
  5. I think the hate for Silver Bullet is pretty much a meme - Nowhere near as crappy as people say. I agree that it's not the best invert out there, but I can still name 15 B&M's worse than it. Sure it's plopped over that now-tiny lake, but I'd still take Silver Bullet over having that area untouched. Honestly, the only part of the coaster that really sucks is the first drop. The rest of the layout is pretty awesome if you're into a cool floaty layout. And that helix is really forceful!
  6. Hi, you might want to check the park's social media now as I just received word from my friend that the annoucement has been posted! Nothing really announced, just those two istagram pictures. MVR trackwork is confirmed, but I haven't seen anything about new trains.
  7. You're probably right considering this will be one of three custom coasters opening in 2017.
  8. Just a heads up, our company is simply called FlowRider and we're owned by WhiteWater West. Wave Loch (Tome Lochtefeld) sold the FlowRider IP to WhiteWater West a few years ago. Wave Loch still exists, but they're essentially separate from us. I'm glad you liked the model, it was fun putting it together!
  9. Ooh, giant twisty spike? I like that. Do we know if there will be another spike? Or do we suspect this will be like a modern version of Superman the Escape (aka Reverse Free Fall Coaster)?
  10. I think RMC have been playing it safe with unannounced projects. I'm sure they realize they've unintentionally let the cat out of the bag a few times in the past couple years. Saying "there's no RMC projects opening in 2017" is the PR equivalent of saying there's no announced RMC projects opening in 2017. I don't think that statement confirms anything. And you can continue to delude yourself by pretending that a 22-month construction is completely normal. They're already 6-months ahead of New Texas Giant's construction timeline...
  11. Unfortunately, they're not all quite open - only Riptide's spot. - Screaming Swing's old area is now occupied by the huge new "Calico Stage" - This new area relieves the congestion from the old stage and train depot in Calico Square - Wipeout isn't leaving. It had to come out to make room for the boardwalk BBQ remodeling. It'll be reinstalled after it's all completed.
  12. Exactly. And therefore it's not a roller coaster
  13. I'm not sure what exactly distinguishes a family coaster - GhostRider and Phoenix are family coasters to me... Anyway, I wanted to point out my two favorite Mack family coasters! Manta and Space Fantasy! I think Manta is much better than Verbolten and Firechaser, and sits right below Cheetah Hunt in terms of multi launch family coaster. Space Fantasy is also one of my favorite non-Disney family coasters - Amazing effects!
  14. Obviously the ledgers aren't taller than the total height yet... I was saying that the ledgers have surpassed the the old profile - That means new wood has been erected to make the structure taller and accommodate the new angle. The red solid line is confirmed by the currently placed ledgers. The theoretical trajectory based on this lift angle seems to put the new total height well over the old, by how much we can't say yet.
  15. Also from that video, you can see that the steeper new lift profile is now exceeding the old in height... If CP shifted their webcam by 1 degree, we'd be able to get a better angle of this! It looks like it will be massive!
  16. I see the same thing. F**king Nitro has a better pre-lift than this ride, but who cares if after the lift it does a bunch of insane bullsh*t? Here's a better view of it if you're interested. It will be two small humps, also. This is definitely what that wonky banked track was for. TC's pre-lift does nothing for me, but I suppose it's better than simply straight track?
  17. That picture basically confirms a pre-lift similar to the CA RMCs, not that it makes any difference to me. That's probably what that twisty track was for anyway.
  18. For all those people who STILL think this will be the open in 2018 with the same construction timeline as New Texas Giant, let me remind you that Mean Streak is currently 6 months ahead of that construction timeline. The first track was erected on the lift hill on March 3, 2010 and by May 12, 2010, they were only a few feet further along than Mean Streak sits today... and it's only NOVEMBER You are insane if you think this won't open in 2017.
  19. IMO, the shaping doesn't look oblique enough to me for a dive loop. And I find it very weird that the track is perfectly parallel on each side of the small radius turn. To me, it looks much more like a brake run/transfer track area (which doesn't make sense if it's at the bottom of the hill...). The whole layout also looks ridiculously short... I guess it's wait and see.
  20. With track in place and ledgers placed up the lift this project is officially FOUR months ahead of New Texas Giant (a prototype with deliberately slow construction). 22 months would be INSANE for construction - How can this not be for 2017??
  21. Does anybody have any idea what could possibly be going on with this layout yet? I'm still really confused by that sharp turn area.
  22. ^ Whoops, I spaced on that one! I think Ninja is really fun, and has 1 or 2 intense moments, but it's pretty weak compared to Vortex at CW or Bat. I still really enjoy the terrain elements and put it on par with Revolution (without OTSRs!) - Both great family coasters, IMO.
  23. Knott's: 1. Xcelerator 2. GhostRider 3. Silver Bullet 4. Montezooma's 5. Sierra Sidewinder 6. Jaguar 7. Coast Rider 8. Pony Express 9. Boomerang SFMM: 1. Twisted Colossus ... 2. Tatsu 3. Batman 4. Apocalypse 5. Goliath 6. Full Throttle 7. X2 8. Revolution 9. Ninja 10. Scream 11. Superman 12. Riddler's Revenge 13. Viper 14. Gold Rusher 15. Road Runner 16. Green Lantern
