The Best Woodie under 75 feet Tall

Seems Phoenix narrowly doesn't qualify... In that case, Coaster at Playland definitely wins this thread, followed by White Lightning. -

Definitely photoshopped. sarcasm You're right, just ask coasterbill. There's definitely a problem with the pixels here. Don't let them pull a fast one on you -

Favorite attraction never made?

The drop parallel with the lift (halfway through the ride) has some of the most insane ejector in the back row. It's rare nowadays that I grasp for the lapbar out of surprise -- I can't wait to get back on that thing! -

Despite people here making fun of you, I think you have a good point! I've heard similar stories from older people who've been on old wooden coasters. One reason why I think older wood coasters might have been "wilder" is the old restraints and trains. Lots of wooden coasters back in the day had single-position lapbars that sat far above your lap, therefore giving riders a lot more space to move around and fly out of the seat. The only two wooden coasters I've been on with those style restraints are Coaster at Playland (In Vancouver, Canada) and Phoenix. Both of which are in my top coasters because of this reason. Look at how high the restraints sit in this picture - There's like nothing holding them in: -

*makes note* "Contrary to what Ive always thought, there are, in fact, a few delicate snowflakes in California." Glad to see edgy, alt-right memes make an appearance at TPR. I'd also accept "cuck" or "libtard" - Keep up the good work Your post got a little meta there and I lost track, but I really like that picture. Do you remember what year that's from? Those uniforms are strange! -

Sad, but true. I think you're right, but one can hope! But once the season starts (and we still don't have an announcement/layout) we will surely get those weekly updates in great detail! -

I feel the same way! It's not every coasters construction that you legitimately don't know what's coming next -- Seeing leaked construction photos once a week excites me WAY more than a normal teaser cycle would! And the pictures bring much better discussion than what's normally going on here... -

Unfortunately, the construction pace has slowed since October. The one element that we've seen pictures of is the only part with track (other than the pre-lift). That means probably only 5-10% of the layout has track/ledgers. I'd imagine the odds of it opening in May are very slim to none. Some people (including Screamscape) are clinging onto the idea of a late-season opening, but I wouldn't get your hopes up... -

That joke is still really funny... The only thing worse than offseason discussion is people complaining about offseason discussion. (And then people (like me, right now) complaining about those complainers) -

Outlaw Run definitely sits among those three Intamins for pacing/intensity/airtime. I also like Medusa Steel more than Fury (but not the others) -- But you are right that no other RMC I've ridden exceeds the coasters you mentioned. Granted, I do think Lightning Rod could top them all! I do think it's ridiculous for people to start claiming "best RMC" after seeing exactly one element... -

As rumor (well, legend by this point) goes, only one person ever experienced the in-line twist - Intamin President, Sandor Kernacs. Apparently, he rode it once and immediately knew it was too much for the general public and ordered the redesign. Who knows how intense it actually was, but I imagine it would have been immensely more tolerable with these new restraints. I wish I could have experienced it - Those testing videos looked INSANE! Also, Intamin recently updated their website, if anyone's interested! -
There's a LOT of impressive users participating in this thread - Well done, everyone! In addition to just loving riding coasters, I enjoy the collection part and learned history of coasters too. I feel like wooden coasters fulfill those secondary interests of mine a little more than steel. Each wood coaster feels a little more unique and almost less permanent than steel.

Not goofing around. The first element after the drop is shaping up to be a crazy tall outward-banked top hat hill/turn thing like 20ft taller than the original turn. I love following along with coaster construction - I wish the park had a normal marketing tactic so we could see this thing grow and develop. The size of this new element basically confirms that the lift hill will have to be raised to 200+ ft. -
In the poll, you can look through the statistics page and find some pretty interesting things! Firstly, Blue Streak at Cedar Point is the most ridden wood coaster on the list by far! (68% of the users) Secondly, my most "rare" wood coaster credit here is Timberhawk in Washington (3.9%) - Followed by Coaster at Playland, Tremors, and Timber Terror (5.7%)! Lastly, there's multiple idiots who have marked InvadR, Mytic Timbers, or Mine Blower.
