It will 100% not be dueling at the spot where the track is close in the footage, there's like one element separating those two tracks... Also, there's no way the MCBR flat track will have a launch. The drop off of it is super steep and definitely won't be going over at any speed more than 30 mph or so. -

Shots are wonderful! We know why a drone was flying the other day! "They're coming and they're unruly" -

If you look closely, you can see ledgers framing the drop... It looks to be 90 degrees, most likely the steepest drop on a coaster with a significant train length (not short eurofighter-like train) -
Both HKDL and Ocean Park were significantly down, maybe it's a regional thing? Surprisingly, every SoCal park but Disney went up (or stayed the same). Universal had a huge gain with WWoHP. In my selfish mind, I hope the rise in attendance can sustain the rise in new capital at all my local parks! The Shanghai Disney number is deceivingly low, expect huge numbers next year! And that's a huge bummer about SWO having lower numbers again, hopefully they can regain traction after that raft ride opens in 2018. Maybe they needed to focus in the family market vs the adult-centered Mako market? Regardless, it's still pulling huge numbers.

Do you guys remember TTD's constant downtime for its first two seasons? That coasters reliability was disastrous, not unlike Lightning Rod. But over time the park figured out how to get it working most of the time. That's what will happen with Lightning Rod. I highly doubt they're getting a new launch system, and I KNOW they're not getting a chain lift... -

Are you serious? What is wrong with you people? Of course I think the park handled this amazingly, but it was still after the fact - They admitted they made a mistake, good on them. It's still awful that it got to this point and wasn't resolved right after it happened. -

Those are 5 great points and exactly what I meant in my posts, thank you Elissa. To further discussion. Do people think this will be an inversion or an over bank? It looks to go over the brake run entering the station - Should have some good visuals of this part while waiting in line! -

A grand total of zero people are "excusing homophobia". We all think the guy who said that is the scum of the earth. All that's happening is that some of us are saying that we can understand why an untrained bartender who just started an entry level seasonal job less than 2 weeks ago might have been unprepared to deal with that type of situation which I would think is beyond the scope of his training because (let's be honest) it's not like he's a real bartender. He's working at a food service location that up until recently didn't even have a bathroom at a seasonal amusement park where I'm sure no actual bartending experience is required. Nobody's acting like he's the victim here but saying that you understand his situation isn't "excusing homophobia". That's literally all speculation downplaying this. You don't know the age of the bartender nor do you know how long he's worked there. The devil's advocate stuff really downplays this customer's experience. Even if he might be under-experienced at his job, he should still face consequences for the way he treated customers. That bartender should have AT LEAST apologized for the uncomfortable situation. But he should have honestly called his manager/security to remove the other patron for using slurs at another guest. IMO, the behavior of the bartender is completely unprofessional. And who knows, maybe the bartender was actually homophobic? None of you were there. Either case, this is wrong and should definitely be brought up to park management. -

There's far too many "devils advocates" excusing homophobia on here today. All I know is that if this experience was enough to make two adults leave the theme park, it must've been pretty shitty. -

Ignorance is DEFINITELY not going to be solved with "haha guess so" remarks from the bartender... Maybe some people can't just laugh it off so easily. It sucks to feel criticized and made fun of, especially in public. Have some empathy Bringing up politics in a theme park forum is distasteful. -

I think it's the right move to contact Cedar Point about the discrimination you faced. I'm sorry that many people in that part of the country feel the way they do. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it felt to be in that bar. -

That's nice and all, but it's unfair to tell coaster enthusiasts to not plan trips to ride the best coaster in the country. I have the privilege of having ridden it and I completely understand everyone's disappointment if they missed out during their trip, it fucking sucks. My day at Dollywood with Lightning Rod running was IMMENSELY better than my day last June with it closed (despite coasterbill/others telling people to eat cinnamon bread at get over it). So many users here (incl. me) go to parks for coasters - Everything else is extra. Lightning Rod DOES make the park so much better for those people. I wish the team at Dollywood and the people with booked trips best of luck with the upcoming summer season, but I won't surprised to see a lot of justified disappointment on the forum and other places online. -

So does anybody know how the 2018 wooden coaster is coming alsong? Last I saw were those plans from a city council meeting, I think? Do we know if it's approved yet? And do we just think it's RMC based on what we can tell from the layout or do we have any other info to back it up? -
I hope not. The capacity for the Raptor would be terrible for a crowded Fiesta Texas. I'm all for the T-Rex version though. To add to this speculation, you may be right. But I thought they were a lot further in testing the Raptor track than they are now. I wonder: 1. How long does testing take? 2. When will TREX testing start? 3. How long was the Free Fly testing before Six Flags bought it? 4. How long is the track production time? 5. What park is getting WHAT??? Well this prototype existed for more than a year before Batman was built

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
chickenbowl replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, I'll start us off. I met a "coaster enthusiast in" line for Wild Eagle last month. He was from Cincinnati and bragged about riding Diamondback before anybody else when he worked for KI. Anyway, I told him I was from San Diego so we started talking about SWSD. I said "Those Mack trains on Manta are some of the most comfortable trains I've sat on" To which he replied "You know Manta is Intamin, right?" I said "I think you're mistaken. Mack's track does look similar to Intamins though, so I get the confusion." He concluded his thought with "I've been in the industry for 20 years, I know for a fact that Mack designed the ride and Intamin built the track and trains." Yeah, ok bud. -

Not sure. Maybe they haven't cut away that part of the structure? Maybe they need to stay for support for some reason? I'd think that if there was more of the layout up there, they'd place ledgers when they did the first one. Don't count on the layout going back up there. -
