1. Hey Taylor! I visited CW last year for the first time so I kinda know stuff. 1. I had a Platinum pass so I was able to do a few coasters before opening, but I don't think I necessarily needed it. I can tell you that you'll want to knock out Time Warp, Wonder Mountain, and Backlot early due to low capacity. I felt that making a general clockwise loop around the park worked out well for me. I think a Wednesday won't be too bad. The B&Ms have amazing capacity so those can wait if you have the patience. I knocked out every coaster by early afternoon on a Saturday last summer. 2. I wasn't stoked with the food options at this park, I had pretty bad nachos from somewhere for lunch. 3. Never ate around the park. 4. The Drop Tower is great! I'm not huge on flats, but this park has a massive, unique collection. You'll probably want to ride Skyhawk and Sledgehammer. https://www.canadaswonderland.com/play/rides-thrill Check out more here.
2. Crap, I was planning on visiting the park today, but only for that half hour. ...Oh well
3. As an engineer in this industry, I'm learning that more and more everyday.
4. This link is claiming that Dododonpa now reaches 180 km/h in 1.56 seconds, accelerating at 3.75G... https://www.fujiq.jp/special/dododonpa/?page=3 Compare that to Kingda Ka with 1.6G accelerating.... Holy Shit
5. Well, like most people Magnum and TN Tornado are superior to any other Arrow I've ridden, but there's some other decent ones that deserve some credit! Thunderation - Far and away my favorite mine train. Transitions aren't funky and it actually picks up a LOT of speed! I also love the layout design and terrain interaction. Vortex, CW / Bat, KI - These two have very similar layouts/pacing. These have got to be the best currently operating Arrow Suspended! In the front car, there's amazing swinging and good speed! Loch Ness Monster - I think the reason this Arrow Looper holds up where others don't is that the fast sections of the ride (drops) are all unbanked straight sections. The roughness in Arrow loopers comes from high-speed banking most of the time. Desperado - This coaster is underrated. It might not hold up well to other hypers or even Magnum, but the layout is LONG and there's a couple spots with fun airtime! I also enjoy how unique this coaster is!
6. The launch still looks amazing (and was probably the most remarkable part of the ride previously), but I give the loop an "ehh" reaction when compared with the top hat.
7. Stand Up - Riddler's Revenge, 2002 Invert - Silver Bullet, 2005 Floorless - Scream, 2006 Flying - Tatsu, 2006 Hyper - Diamondback, 2010 Dive - Griffon, 2012 Wing - Wild Eagle, 2012 Sit Down - Incredible Hulk, 2014 Family - Family Inverted Coaster, 2016
8. That brings up a good point that I've thought for a while. I find it strange that El Toro gets universally praised by enthusiasts while Skyrush has such mixed reception. Both rides have similarly restrictive lap restraints and similar aggressive airtime. Why hate on Skyrush but not El Toro? I personally don't find either to be remarkably uncomfortable, but I needed to point out the hypocrisy in our community. Also, I have never felt a rattle on Skyrush...
9. Defunct Psyclone (SFMM) Rolling Thunder (SFGAdv) Thunder Road (Carowinds) Gwazi Speed the Ride (Vegas) Cobra (La Ronde) Spell Breaker (Legoland) Wildcat (Cedar Point) Disaster Transport Tree Tops Racer (Adventure City) Roller Soaker (Hersheypark) Boomerang (KBF) Relocated Deja Vu (SFMM) Hurricane (SCBB) Tony Hawk Big Spin (SFDK) Windstorm (Old Town) Wacky Worm (Old Town) Converted by RMC Colossus Cyclone (SFNE) Hurler (KD) Mean Streak Roar (SFDK) Converted by B&M Mantis Vortex I'm positive there's some other random kiddie coasters that are gone now.
10. "Height waiver for new attraction in Busch Gardens" "Busch Gardens Madrid" ?!?! New country-themed land?!?!
11. That's wonderfully huge -- Thanks for posting! I really wonder what this coaster will be

13. A couple more states to add since last year! I've now ridden coasters in 27 states and have visited 35! *I've italicized the states that have changed since I last posted this. US AZ - Desert Storm CA - Twisted Colossus (Joker is close) CT - Boulder Dash FL - Mako GA - Goliath ID - Tremors IL - Goliath IN - Voyage KY - Storm Chaser MA - Superman the Ride (Yes, still better than Wicked Cyclone) ME - Excalibur MI - Shivering Timbers MO - Outlaw Run NC - Fury 325 NJ - El Toro NV - El Loco NY - Jack Rabbit, Seabreeze OH - Maverick OK - Silver Bullet, Frontier City OR - Ice Mountain Bobsled PA - Skyrush/Phoenix (Masterpieces in their own way) SC - Intimidator (Not counting Fury) TN - Lightning Rod TX - Iron Rattler UT - Cannibal (closely followed by Colossus the Fire Dragon) VA - Intimidator 305 WA - Timberhawk: Ride of Prey Canada British Columbia - Coaster, Playland Ontario - Behemoth (Definitely better than Leviathan) Quebec - Goliath Other countries Mexico - Medusa Steel Coaster Japan - Flying Dinosaur China - Mega-Lite (Happy Valley Shanghai)
14. 1. Jack Rabbit (Seabreeze) - 1920 2. Roller Coaster (Lagoon) - 1921 3. Giant Dipper (SCBB) - 1924 4. Giant Dipper (Belmont) - 1925 5. Wildcat (Lake Compounce) - 1927 6. Matterhorn (DLR) - 1959 Kennywood will dominate this list once I get there.
15. Mountain Coaster at Snowbird Resort in SLC. After riding a handful of these things, I'd say without a doubt that they're definitely "countable" coasters! They ride and feel more like coasters than plenty of non-disputed coasters (ie Black Diamond, Blazing Fury, many kiddie coasters). Anyway, it was a ton of fun! Although, the alpine coaster at Park City was even better!
16. Here's one from today. Open it in full screen Sidenote - This coaster is terrible just like the city it resides in.
17. ^You say you don't like the smaller scale rides and then you have the 100' Medusa at the top?? Bit if a contradiction... Medusa is amazing though
18. It is an Infinity coaster. You're wrong.... Click on the "existing models" tab
19. Because that worked out so well. I hope you're kidding. That was the operator's fault, not Gerstlauer. But that's irrelevant because RMC only contracted Gerstlauer because they didn't have their own trains to provide at the time.
20. Announcement season is so hilarious to me. It's amazing to see how crazy everyone gets with speculation and rumor. I'm just happy to know that it all should be confirmed or denied by September or so. This year's announcements are shaping up to be really fun, too. Especially compared with the previous season.
21. Well Screamscape just posted that new rumors are saying it'll be the first RMC Raptor, so...? For all I know, he could've gotten the rumor from CGA fanboys interpreting the conference call. The next meeting date in Santa Clara is July 5. Maybe some people from here can go check it out if it's open to public??
22. Very good point! The listed height on a Architectural review probably won't match the number on the manufacturer's website due to many outside factors (footing height, platform height, where 0.0' is measured from, etc.). But there are so many options for coaster models that are around 100.5' anyway... You are right that the half pipe coaster would easily fit there though. Here's a list of coasters with a height of 110' that I'd like for CGA to get: Beast, Wicked, Incredible Hulk.
23. ^ But none of those models are exactly close to 110' 6"
24. Quick update on the Lightning Rod speed debacle from Screamscape: So yeah, Coaster Studios was full of shit, just like I suspected.
