What are your TOP TEN COASTERS
robbeal replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
*Opens Excel Spreadsheet* Yes, i'm that sad! 1. Expedition GeForce (Holiday Park) 2. Nemesis (Alton Towers) 3. Silver Star (Europa Park) 4. Rita: Queen of Speed (Alton) 5. Colossus (Thorpe Park) 6. Air (Alton) 7. Oblivion (Alton) 8. Dragon's Fury (Chessington) 9. Nemesis: Inferno (Thorpe) 10. Magnum Force (Flamingoland) Pretty UK-focused, but that should change quite seriously over the next couple of years! Could see a couple of new top10s this summer. -
Has a waterslide ever scared you?
robbeal replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There's something about waterslides that my body doesn't seem to agree with. I've not enjoyed many slides properly, as I always seem to get water in uncomfortable places at some point (eyes, nose etc), and it tarnishes my experience. I managed to flip over off the end of a particularly fast one in Tenerife a few years back, and really winded myself when I hit the water. Thought i'd cracked a rib or something! -
Robb & Elissa's Europe Trip Schedule!
robbeal replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, it's all booked, and suddenly, the date's looming upon us. Me & Martyn are getting the early flight from England across to Gothenburg airport, and then getting the bus into the city, dunno about the deathmole, don't know whether he's tagging along yet. We'll probably be there for late morning/lunchtime, so we'll probably take our time getting across to Liseberg, which doesn't open until 2. We're flying back home at approx 9:30pm, so we'll have to be leaving the park about 6:30. Shouldn't be too busy though, so that should be plenty of time to get on everything. See yas there. -
Quick Liseberg question
robbeal replied to robbeal's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ah cheers, you're a legend! With regards to 'Gothenburg CITY' airport, I only knew of one airport available through Ryanair, and that is the one 11miles east of the city. The journey time on the bus about equates there, so I guess we're going to the same airport! -
Saw XXX2 at the weekend. It was okay, fun and had enough action, but it got a bit fantastical at times, and Ice Cube really can't act. In fact, his acting has got worse since his early days in Boyz n the Hood etc. Samuel L Jackson and Willem Dafoe were good though.

We've had russian dwarf hamsters for many years now. Our most recent one passed away after just over 2 years recently, did well for a little fella. Ours have always lasted pretty well, but we were surprised this one did so well. It didn't run as much as others had, and it drank an awful lot of water, almost a bottle a day (only a small bottle!). It must've had IBS or something to mean it needed that much water, but it worked, and it lasted longer than any others!

Afraid of coasters as a kid?
robbeal replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was scared of coasters until 2001. It took a college trip to Disneyland Paris to sort me out. First ever coaster was Space Mountain! -
The Maurer spinner looks like Whirlwind at Seabreeze.

Robb & Elissa's Europe Trip Schedule!
robbeal replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Royale with Cheese Flights to Gothenburg are booked for 21st June. Looking forward to Kanonen etc and to meeting you guys. Should be a good, if a bit brief day there. Return flight's 9:20pm, so we'll have to head off about 6:30pm I reckon. -
Top 10 Amusement Park Thrills?!?!?
robbeal replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can see their reasoning behind the list, but it doesn't really fit the 'top thrills' title they've given it does it? I think a better title was in order really. -
Rush at Thorpe Park now testing
robbeal replied to nemesis-storm's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Beat me to it! Seems everyone's elsewhere that day, i'm in Shepton Mallet (glamourous eh!) doing archery, my mate who almost certainly would've been there for the opening is at Disneyland Paris. They could have a quiet opening at this rate! Good to see a ride open on time this year for a change though. -
Quick Liseberg question
robbeal replied to robbeal's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh cheers for the advice! Well, if you could do me a big favour this weekend, could you let me know where to bus leaves from the airport, how much it costs, and how to get the right trams. Thanks again, makes things immensely easier for me! -
Hmmm, it seems Scream Heaven is broke at the moment. That was where the video i've got was. I'd say you could get it off me, but MSN transfers from my university connection are hopelessly slow, so it's not worth it really, especially for a large video.

Kingda Ka Opening Day Set
robbeal replied to Token Yankee Guy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^As far as I know it's operating this season, and closing at the end of the season. Looks like we've got a case of lovely Intamin Accelerator reliability again here. For the amount of time that the actual structure has been built, you'd think that they'd at least be on schedule for opening, but noooo. -
Yep, it's the only Vekoma tilt coaster in operation in the world. Quite a unique one. There is an onride video of it somewhere on the internet, but I can't quite remember where. I've got the link on my laptop though, so i'll post it later.

Okay, I don't know if anyone can help me with this or not, but it's worth a try. Heading out to Liseberg in June, flying from England to Gothenburg airport, and need to get to Liseberg. I belive the park is around 11miles from the airport, so does anyone know what the best way of getting there would be? Also, I land mid morning, and the park doesn't open til 2, so is Gothenburg city centre en route from the airport or not? Cheers for any help I can get.

Steel Dragon 2000
robbeal replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If the coaster isn't resurrected at either Nagashima or moved to another park, i'll be really disappointed not to have ridden it. Even if it isn't that great, just to have ridden that monster would be a feat of its own. I hope it doesn't end up like Drachen Fire & Moonsault Scramble, just a legend that everyone talks about, but not many had the chance to ride. -
There does seem to be quite an expense of the ride in that tunnel. If you look at the gap across the carpark to where the tunnel comes back out, it's quite a way, and with at least 1 corner in there, and a severe one at that, it's going to be a very fun part of the ride surely. Damn Wisconsin for being so far away from all other parks! Can't really make a worthwhile trip to it from over here, unless I include Chicago, which isn't that nearby.

What is your favorite seat on a coaster and why?
robbeal replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pretty much always the front for me, I just love the unobstructed view. It heavily depends on the queue for the ride though, as if i've waited for a while and the front row queue is quite long, then i'll just sit wherever I can get. -
Photo TR: Robb & Elissa's Silver Doller City Trip...
robbeal replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^Are there many 'worlds' there, or should it just be 'World of not-so-Fun' also? Maybe the pluralisation is just to fit in with the pluralisation of the park's name? Who knows... Powderkeg looks smaller on some of those pictures than it has done before. I know it's not that big anyway, but it's always had that illusion if seeming quite large. Good to hear it's fun though, we may have a new competitor in the launch market. -
for anyone who has a 14 year old sence of humor
robbeal replied to M_Force_4_ever's topic in Random, Random, Random
Kiek in de Kock. Hahahahahahahahahahah, bloody excellent! -
REM - Orange Crush was the latest on the random playlist.

Yeah, do that! lol The Virgin fly-drive thing was something I hadn't considered actually, so I guess that's something else to look into. Cheers for that bud. I've also considered doing a northern loop from/to Boston, then flying down south and doing Florida. May be a cheaper way. I may end up missing out Six Flags Over Georgia then though, which'd be a pity. But still, gotta think of the costs on this. Cheers for the help everyone.

Bizarre Abandoned Japanese Amusement Park!
robbeal replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That looks so spooky with all the fog. It would make a nice set for a thriller film. Be cool to just wander around the place too, just to see it all. -
The ride that's so far left the best impression on me is Expedition GeForce. Exellent ride, had to keep going back round for more, and go back this summer for more again!
