That makes more sense. It was at a Bloomingdale's, which is a really upscale store, so I figured it couldn't be totally out of the question. You would think $14900 jeans would be behind lock and key, though. They were pretty nice pants, maybe I should go snag a pair. Is Bloomingdale's a Califonia store, because I haven't seen them in Florida. We do have Saks Fifh Avenue though. No, its based out of New York City. I'm not sure where you live, but they have four stores in the Miami-Palm Beach- Ft. Lauderdale area and one in the Orlando area.

That was one of the "easy" questions on the test. They are not dumbing down their standards, they are just trying to help you not score a zero on the test. I'm sure the questions got a lot harder as the test progressed. I'm not sure about 10 years ago, but I know for the past 5 years or so, the SAT has ALWAYS done done their questioning by placing the easy questions to the front, medium in the middle, and hard questions in the back. The easy questions are there to help you with your overall score, its not because of lower standards.

I think its what the parents are NOT doing rather than what ther are doing. Parents nowadays are too busy with their jobs and their own life that they really don't care about what their teenager is doing o the internet. Parents are trying to provide for their kids, but they also have to realize that providing is only PART of the job; they also have to be there for their kids and monitor to some extent what they are doing. As for the gang violence comment, you have to realize that myspace, rap, etc. does not cause gang violence. The people who join gangs typically have issues of their own such as lack of love and acceptance, aggression towards one thing or another, so 9 times out of 10 people join gangs because of their own issues in an attempt to be "accepted" and "loved" and not because its being talked about in rap songs and myspace.

Do you know how stupid this sounds. Most people who listen to rap don't become gangstas, playas, etc. and if they do its not beacuse of rap. Besides you are really over estimating the number of people who listen to rap. In fact rap has never had as many followers as rock, so rap has no contribution to lower grades. In fact it is myspace, facebook, etc. because people are on myspace instead of doing their homework or studying for a test. But honestly, the people who's grades are affected by myspace are typically the ones with little self-control and are usually the ones who don't care about school. Myspace only gives them an excuse as to not do homework or simply just put all of their blame for their dislike of school on myspace.

LA Trip Advice requested
map2 replied to edboxer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd say that you should go to Knotts on the 8th. If the crowds are low then you should be able to get the park done in 2-3 hours. The main rides I would suggest would be Xcelerator, Supreme Scream, Perilous Plunge (if it's opened), Silver Bullet, Jaguar, Montezooma's Revenge, and Sierra Sidewinder. Plus LAX is closer to KBF than SFMM. SFMM should be done on the 9th, that way you will have 4 good hours of the park in the early hours. I don't really have a game plan other than go to Tatsu and X first. -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
map2 replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
lol This one is my favorite because it is 100 percent guarenteed that this will never happen. But I heard that Disney was thinking about buying Rhode Island and turning the whole thing into a park. Some of the concept names are Disneyland America or Disneyplanet -
Has anyone noticed the lack of roller coaster magazines in stores? I know there are not as many people who would pick up a roller coaster magazine as opposed to a car or style magazine, but Im'm sure there would at least be people who would buy one.

AAgh I hate that phone so much. I used to have the same version as the photo and you could barely hear through it. Now I have to put it on speaker if I want to hear. Hopefully you'll have better luck than I did with the phone. I just got this two days ago

^Theres a lot of good rap songs out today. The only problem is that they don't get played because its not "cool" or whatnot. Its not really not a fair statement to say pretty much all of rap and hip hop

Oh yeah I need to add Lip Gloss by Lil' Mama as one of the most annoying songs ever. A song about lip gloss?!?!?
-
Lots of songs A Bay Bay- Hurricane Chris...It was fun for a while but now it is pretty old This Is Why I'm Hot - MIMS...hip hop id dead because of this stupid song Amusement Park - 50 Cent...pretty good beat but it is the sequel to Candy Shop But the worst song ever is Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne. That song is so stupid and sounds like a 10 year old wrote the chorus

It all really depends on what you want to do while on your trip. If you want to go to one park for a couple of days, I suggest going to Cedar Point. They offer the most rides out of all of your three choices. You could go to Guega Lake if your staying within the Cleveland vicinity, but after travelling to Cedar Point, you will be done with Guega Lake within a few hours. Personally, I would not recommend Six Flags Great Adventure as a first UK park because the ride selection is good, but I don't think it has the best ride selection out of the three. I would suggest Six Flags Magic Mountain to you if you want do more than one park. The ride selection at Magic Mountain is pretty good, but depending on where you are staying you can drive to Universal Studio, Knott's Berry Farm, and Disneyland Resort without driving too far. So to sum it I suggest going to Cedar Point if you want to go to one park with great ride selections (Guega Lake included), and I would suggest going to Six Flags Magic Mountain if you want to go to more than one park.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (BGT Discussion Thread)
map2 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm so glad that Busch decided to add the floorless trains to the ShieKra. When I went in March, I really enjoyed the feeling of being in the front row and seeing the drop below. I'm sure the floorless trains only enhances the thrill of the first drop and I cannot wait until I go to BGA again. -
What were your favorite Nickelodeon shows in the 90s? Mine were Wild & Crazy Kids, Legends of the Hidden Temple, All That (original cast), Kenan & Kel, and Ahh! Real Monsters

Shes not going to change in jail though. On the news it said that she was getting ready to throw a party at her house later tonight, and the party truck still came to her house this morning to bring spot heaters tables, chairs, etc. You would think she learned from her mistake but I guess not
-
Im so tired of celebrities with special treatment. I heard that she can throw parties at her house under house arrest?!?!?!?!? Its very hypocritical because she got in trouble for being intoxicated when shes not supposed to, but now shes able to drink when she really shouldn't?!?!? Im so tired of celebrities who are too stupid and irresponsible to control themselves.

I agree with the other TPR members, Perilous Plunge is the best chute-the-chute rides. It is crazy how you get splashed in the face as your going down the drop, that would be the only chute-the-chute ride i would wait an hour for. That or Jurassic Park, but I would not wait in the line to get wet more for fun. But when did Perilous Plunge get harnesses?

IMO this would be a boring movie. It would basically be about a family living life...unless something tragic or shocking happens, and the family soon realizes that they are not in control of their own lives and must somehow convince "the man" to stop ruining their lives before they all doomed. Now there is a somewhat intresting movie

^I'm not saying that all parks that were built in the 70s or beyond are not as clean as they used to be, I'm just saying that if a park's main objective switches from adding to the enviroment to adding thrill rides, the ark is not going to be as clean as it used to be. I agree with you that Busch Gardens is a clean park (IMO can compete with Disney in cleanliness), but it can always "go down the drain" if it is not managed well.
-
Also, I just realized that most of the parks everyone was using were built in the 70s. As stated before, they were new parks, so they are obviously going to be cleaner rather than 30 years down the road. The parks then tried to please their easy-satisfying customers by providing a clean atmosphere, etc. Parks now know that they will have at least some people go to the park no matter what, so they don't have to work as hard to stay in bussiness.
-
Just guessing here, but I think there are several factors witht this. First, I think the fact of cost of living was cheaper and the dollar was more powerful back in the 70s. Thus adding a new flat in the 70s would cost 500,000 dollars or so rather than 2 million or so today. This leaves more money to add new lanscaping etc. instead of draining all of the seasons income on a new ride. Also, I think the technology of thrill rides helped sway the parks major objective. I think the way the parks kept the guests happy back then as opposed to now could play a part. I'm guessing back in the 70s parks main idea of keeping the guests happy was to surround them with a positive atmosphere with good food, nice andscaping, good shows, fun rides, fun games, clean parks, etc. I think the development and new technology of roler coasters and other thrill rides shifted our attention to riding rides more than getting the "full" amusement park experience. So instead of adding new shows, games, restaurants, etc., parks started adding thrill rides to not only keep guests at their parks, but also to make guests stop going to the park that just added a new thrill ride. The competitive drive between theme parks can be a good thing, but it can also corrupt a park (ex. SFMM).

^^Yeah Goliath's queue is cool, especially at night. I also think it is weird that X has two separate queues. Have they ever used the 2nd queue because whenever I went, they only used one queue Does anyone have any pics of Kingda Ka's old queue and Batman and Robin:The Chiller's queue once inside the building?

The umbrella is basically a metaphor for friendship. When the sun shines We'll shine together Told you I'll be here forever That I'll always be your friend Took an oath Imma stick it out to the end Now that its raining more than ever Know that we still have each other You can stand under my Umbrella
