  1. The Koreans have it good, I tell ya. They have the only Aqua Trax around... Well, the only TRUE Aqua Trax. Maverick just doesn't have a lot of water. I guess rollbacks on an Aqua Trax may be less common then on a real Launched coaster, since the LSM's aren't made to thrust something at an insane speed for the lift.
  2. That is ALWAYS a possibility. Another tilt would be great to add to the one already operating. It looks like a perfect tilter, too. The LSM will probably be a slight variation on the RNRLC type track. Love the concepts.
  3. That's pretty dang good. The end needs a little more to it, though. And the brakes need to come earlier or make it a comeplete stop block.
  4. I also hate it when people think EVERYONE is a terrorist. One reason I went to Cedar Point and not WDW or DLC. Then there's the little kiddies who think they are rich and all who then start screaming bloody murder if they don't get what they want on the plane. Then the people who HAVE to bring every last Parcel with them. Then there's the people who try to cut everything saying their flight will be leaving soon. I still think Barry's is the worst. Never happened to me, but the way those attendents don't even let you go to the bathroom without a 5-minute arguement is outrageous. They assume you're all crazy and will disobey the rules at will.
  5. As I said on the Atari boards, Incredible. Fisherman put all this work into the video to give us a scare that was free and didn't cost $8 or more.
  6. Well, going to SFGADV twice, I'll say it once. A great father once said... "Well, Six Flags Great Adventure ain`t too 'Great' anymore..." One could also add, "It ain't much of an 'Adventure', either..." Well, let's say that compared to what I've heard, the crowds were a little obnoxious, and vulgar language and strings of obscenities were almost common on Nitro, Eruption, even freakin' Skull Mountain! Some people probably think that because it's Six Flags, they can curse all they want. There were little kiddies everywhere! Some annoying and "Moooom! This line is too long!", "Why [insert dumb coaster question here]?", and the inevitable "[insert various annoying scream/cry the ENTIRE ride]!!!1111", but there were the innocent and cute ones with their looking-out-of-place families. Those groups are the most trouble. Five people and four seats left? They refuse to go on. So. Freaking! Annoying! Then no one else is solo, except me, it always seems. That or I'm too 'geek' to have anyone to ride with. I went on Wildcat at CP solo! Wasn't as good having three others freaking out while I savor the moment. I'd personally want to see the removal of the Six Flags name and trademarks. Cedar Fair is proving itself to know how to train employes on how to operate with percision and speed and keep a great optimistic attitude while doing it. I don't care if they can get the train going in 30 seconds like Superman (okay, maybe I do), but if they're all depressed and thinking "I'm hating this job" then that'll reflect on the guests. At Cedar Point, the Gemini Ride Op on BOTH days I was there were optimistic and keeping the riders excited with the same statements that always got the same responses, usually cheering or such. Whoa. My general opinion? Either Cedar Fair `em or have an independent owner take full control of a park or two. Heck, give them to S&S, for all I care! SFGADV isn't on the list, right?
  7. I am kind of disapointed in the people who expected a 500-footer or some kind of record breaker. Incredibly disapointed. Do we all want a TTD or Kingda Ka with just another 100ft added on? No. Rocket coasters break down more often than what CP has announced. This one provides a "lift" AND a launch. It also has inversions and airtime hills. What more can you ask for in a package like this? If you wanted a giant coaster, then you've been looking at things as if money was no object- Maverick is gonna cost a pretty penny. It's themed, it's an Intamin, and it's got LSM's, luxuries for coasters that cost more money than chains or built by Vekoma. Anyone notice that this coaster has a BLACK horse and RED track. Stormrunner @ Hersheypark has a WHITE horse and RED track. Maybe Intamin has a GREY horse and RED track coaster planned with a similar style planned? Note the trend?
  8. One word: OW. You had insane lateral red G's on the helix. Not good! You had really short brakes at random points. You should work on getting your elements right. The loop had yellow g's, which is kinda meh. Then the helix looked like a prefab one. Never use the prefab elements. No matter how usefull they seem, they rarely turn out correct.
  9. I am DarkRideExpert. I was going to be that name on Atari, but someone had the name "DarkRidePerson" and I didn't want confusion, so CommanderLock it was. On NE I'm still DRE, so maybe some new work might pop up sometime soon or later.
  10. I downloaded a simple flatland. Really usefull.
  11. Hello, all. I've dabbled in RCT1 since I was bored of RCT3 and RCT2 has enough custom scenery to drive me insane. So, why not go back to RCT1? No custom scenery, so brace yourselves... This is Neon Speedster. Talk about retro. Comment, constructive critism is welcomed.[/img]
  12. Lemme take a wild guess... A certain member who made a park called "TPOT"? I agree with you, Calaway Park. This park ain't the best, but it has obvious effort. Needs some work, and I hope Dueling Dragons is better than all of the park so far...not that it's bad or anything. I like it, honestly!
  13. ...then built a 500ft. coaster called "Reaper" which was torn down in about 3 hours for the first riders suffered from instant fear of heights and reported instaneous back pain and headaches, the ride just tilts you over the edge and almost flies off to be tilted back and valley until 0mph, then Togo built...
  14. Errr...I refuse to go on those "Roundup" machines. Or the "Ferris Wheels" that put you in a free-spinning car that spins around as it goes up and flips you over. I have a fear of any rides that go upside down. Not counting overbanks or 90-degree turns. I think I could take a zero-g-roll foursome (Collosus@Thorpe Park), but loops, corkscrews, cobra rolls, forget it. One day I'll try the nearest looper, but until then... It's all hypers/gigas/stratas `till then. Pitiful, yes. How much do I worry? Not that much.
  15. I hate to rain on your parade...but check this link. Same logo. Original location. The park is decent for a newcomer, The Edge seems a bit...too much. Make the hole a little more detailed. Vertical Drop rides are good if their drops are going into a hole that comes up REAL FAST, making the drop seem shorter unless you're looking down into it. So raise it to slightly below the ground, and make it look cool. Make it pitch black inside the tunnel. My two cents. I see potential.
  16. Mine is my Bionicle characature. Short but evil. Just like me! I've personally given up with following the Bionicle storyline. Books, comics, movies...gah!!! Too much. I'll stick with my guy.
  17. Well then, here's Phoenix... Not the best themed coaster ever...but certainly one of my best designs for a coaster, ever. Next update I'll show my parks, one finished-one unfinished. I built another variant on the Phoenix I called the Venix. It has a vertical drop instead-and I put a few more suprises in it. It's yellow, too. The finished hill on Phoenix. Massive supports, yes? Took forever to place. Took even longer to tree-up the whole map. That's the 8,100+ft. long (RCT2 measurements) 215ft. hypercoaster known as The Phoenix.
  18. Well then, I've been in the RCT community since the ol` RCT1 days, but it seems all the RCT1 shots have been lost to time...forever! This will be a BIG post, so get comfy. My RCT2 work lives on, finished or unfinished/cancelled. I got increasingly better through playing a lot. I built a park called Toxin Lake, which was good for my skill, but then it got saved over by my brother... That one was lost forever, and then my hard drive got messed up and had to be "ghosted" onto another (basically taking everything and putting it on another clean drive). So that's what I'm using now. Then I got into RCT2 again with looking at NewElements again. I got inspired to make another park, called Garden Amusements. This park slowly built up until I finnaly gave up. Parks were too complex for me. While I was building that, I had three other parks in mind: El Nino, Phoenix, and Christmas Heights. The third was a decent Christmas-y theme park. El Nino was a launched coaster with a Mexican/Tropical theme. Lastly, Phoenix was a truly epic hypercoaster over 8,000 ft long. After comepleting all of this, I felt I had accomplished something and stopped playing RCT2 for a while. Then along came the buggy "OMG!11 ITS THREE-DEE!" creation now known as RCT3 "Vanilla" as the Atari board folk say. It was hard getting used to the scenery placement in the game which kept me from creating some stuff. Once I got used to it, I started to experiment. Eventually after a LOOONG period of time, the family got another computer which could run RCT3 like a charm. That's when I really took off. So here's what's left of my RCT2 work... So Donec adhuc, valeo. (Until then, farewell)[i love Latin. ] Then back into the station! That's El Nino. And that's the end of this part of the "Flashback to RCT2". Next up: Phoenix. Then the last turn over a little house... Then a turnaround zooming into a waterfall's edge... Then a large helix... A 210ft tophat, supports that look a little noobish, but I didn't have easy Strata supports like now. Let's start with El Nino...finished and done for.
  19. I can't justify a couple awards, such as best shows (never been to Fiesta Texas or Universal OR DisneySea), and other particularly dare I say "useless" rewards. "Best Concert Venue"? Where I live in New Jersey, we have the PNC Bank Center and Medowlands for that. I've been to Cedar Point recently and they had the "Top 10" numbers on the corresponding coasters (i.e, MF had a big "1" next to it) in the brochure. They mentioned the Golden Ticket Awards After thinking it over, I think many of the steel coaster awards are labeled "Best" just to make people think its the best. They probably secretly mean "most memorable", because ACEr's will probably remember their first rides on the Magnum over a ride on ExGForce. So would be TTD as the first Strata, and MF as the first Giga (it's probably a good ride, too), and Magnum as the first Hyper, and so on. So they just cover up what ACE thinks is the "best" with a nice big shiny Golden Ticket in a glass case.
  20. If you can take a video of yourself and a friend just doing some good-ol` stand-up comedy about themsevles is a comeplete genius. I love the various jokes throughout it all, and trying to act out the Steel Phantom POV is pure hillariousness*. Some people can find humor almost anywhere...and if they can't find it, they make it up themselves, which is brilliant for this kind of video. *-Is that even a word?
  21. Errr...you didn't have to upload it twice...it worked fine the first time. I just modified the filename so RCT3 would accept it.
  22. Errr...last time I checked, that didn't work. The cable came down and went out of the lift and into the train, but didn't hook on and went back up. Ummm...are you SURE it worked?
  23. I realized at an early age that Pokemon was a sad and horrible fad that would slowly die out soon. Hey, it has! Actually, some of the kids in my 8th grade played it in the mornings to make fun of the kids who were into it. I didn't give in, but it was funny as heck. i.e.-they often went "OMG!!111 I B3AT U!" as a mockery. Card games are dying out in my class. Yugioh is now frowned upon. There are the girls who think the world revolves around them, and their friends must like who they like and hate who/what they dislike to be their friend. Then there's the REALLY REALLY smart gamers who play X-Box Live all night and still get straight A's...somehow. That's a trend hard to duplicate for self, isn't it? Best of all, I'm part of that "group" (there's not really a group, just all similar in work ethics, really). Then there's the "insanities" who wear normal clothes but act slightly crazy at all times, and are interested in everything few have heard about. i.e., me who LOVES Stargate but only one other person has heard of it. Usually said group is generally getting good grades, as well. Umm...my grade is a generally odd group who follows all sorts of trends. We're nuts and proud of it.
  24. *BIG Rant on* My 11 year old brother is autistic, and can rarely make up his own sentence structure (except for things like bathroom, snacks, etc.)-he uses lines spoken in movies, on TV, pop culture in general. Everything must go his way or he will have tantraums like you've never seen. He doesn't understand that not everything is his for the taking or even touching (but he doesn't go around touching people's hair, fortunetly. Just big fuzzy toys, mainly) Example of the worst tantraum: At Animal Kingdom, specifically Kali River Rapids, the Fast Pass line was empty, and since he doesn't understand that concept, he runs in the FP line ALL the way to the station (*pant pant*). We -manage- to bring him back to the start, kicking and screaming. He sees a few parade members walk past that HUGE door nearby that goes behind-the-park. He wants to go there, because he wants to do something. So he runs off and we catch him right before he gets out and runs away. Some of the staff (not costumed, normal uniform) run up and ask if we could get escort out of the park. We accept the VERY generous offer (WE DISNEY STAFF!) and after about 20 minutes of holding him down, the van comes up and I take refuge in the passenger seat while my brother takes the back seat. He suddenly gets silent because he's where he wants. We get to our car, take a long drive to the hotel, and don't go back until the next day. Oy. Also, NEVER let him go near any arcade. One game or three hundred, an arcade is an arcade to him. He'll stay forever. He doesn't get the concept of money running out, essentially. So when the rest of my family waits for me getting out of Space Mountain in MK, I try to get out as fast as I can. And on my first ride, I was stuck with a nice Canadian couple in the seats in front of me for 30 minutes. When I got off, my brother was angry since he was told when I got off, we had to go (okay, we also promised him a ride go on TTA). Oy again. Also, if he wants something, he won't stop asking about it until he gets it. Unfortunetly, eBay is my Dad's pain-killer, since everything my brother wanted was on there and Dad got it. So if you looked at all the crap that's in this room, about 85% is my brother's stuff that he wanted just to have it. Most of it was eBay. I often remind Dad of all the liscensed games he buys for him thinking he'll like it, when he just wants me or Dad to play it forever, no exceptions. He's also started this stage where he always goes in stores and HAS to do EVERYTHING. Even if its just me and Dad, everything MUST be done. That doesn't include restraunts (thank gawd), but shops of all sorts on Main Streets, Boardwalks, and the like are all fair game to him. He thinks life is a giant store he can take anything he wants, look at it, and puts it back. Well, everyone else in line thinks he's gonna destroy their precious plushies. He hits. A lot. After our last Disney trip, my dad had bruises all over from my brother smacking, hitting, and biting him constantly. It was ridiculous. He hits for anything not going his way. At all. He never likes anyone making sure he's okay (he starts screaming). Another annoying behavior of his is to try to enter through the exit. When we go in a theme or amusement park, he thinks everything is Disney. When we went to SFGADV, he asked for Pirates of the Caribbean, the Castle, just about everything. We got out soon enough after I went on Skull Mountain, thankfully before we went to where the ERUPTION! is. Last but not least, whenever we wait for Fireworks, he thinks they go off when HE gets there. So when we were exiting MK late at night via the Ferry, and Wishes started, he went insane. We made it back to the hotel in one piece. Wow. I'm feeling better now it's off my back. This thread is great. *BIG Rant off*
  25. Zamperla Inc.'s American offices are a town away in Parsipany, NJ. Think they have jobs for teens? As long as it ain't janitor, I'm happy! I have just finished Fast Food Nation and if that's on my resume then all of those McD's, Wendy's, and Taco Bell's, and maybe KFC's won't let me in the front door probably...they're such fanatics. "If you're not with them, you shouldn't eat there." Seriously, they let anything go on that tray. Not literally, but what they have they serve. Is it me, or has the "fast" part of "fast food" gone a little too far?
