Geauga Lake Discussion Thread
Real replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cedar Point has not removed Demon Drop. It still stands and still awaits a buyer. They explicitly said if the ride was not sold it would still operate. -
Got the same camera, you will LOVE it. We got it off eBay and it came with this wicked wide angle lens too. Ive been playing wtih it for a week now. Some khakis (I ruin them at work consistantly), handheld game, 200 bucks and some other trinkets. Probably getting a Best Buy card too here at the next house I visit.

Which is Better… Satellite or Cable?
Real replied to PhishyBrewer's topic in Random, Random, Random
Bingo. Digital Cable is the way to go. Most importantly youll want a nice High-Def TV and then you are all set. Kick up the foot rest on the lay-z-boy and hunker down with a beer! -
Messy hair is sexy.

It doesnt look high...but maybe thats because Im immume to anything looking "tall" anymore, despite its type (woodie or steel). Voyager still looks taller but thats obviously due to there being more track feet of track making up the lift. More menacing supports too. Cable lift should be interesting. The best part of the wooden coaster will be gone! No lift noise!

NO matter how the ride rides, it could end up being one of the most photogenic. That thing looks GORGEOUS. And that Zero G...its so...drawn out. It doesnt have the same super fast rotation which I think would be pretty cool. I never liked being whipped through the Zero G because you never got to feel being truely weightless. Hydra is by far the best Zero G and thats because it has a similar elongation quality to it. I think this might even eclipse that. Either way, you can just tell by how flat it is on top and how early and late the banking starts. Still, beautiful color scheme. -
Uhh. That onride, if any onride Ive ever seen (which has to be well over 200, maybe 300) shows this ride has TONS of airtime. It careens up the top hat. I just dont see how anyone can say it doesnt seem like it doesnt have much airtime when it FLIES over each hill without even seeming to lose speed. Ride looks AWESOME. You guys have a gem down there, take care of it!

Mantis = B&M = Painful. Some will disagree, but for me, I canNOT ride without a headache + raw ears. -

I will laugh when this thing is quick, but not old school fast. so much comparison to rides that arent even close to being compared. That Loop is very BTR-ish as well. A very good thing. -
Thorpe Park Discussion Thread

1. I will put money that this doesnt get stuck. Why? The parabola is much wider than TTD's. TTD's is narrower and allows for the train to vary in speed over the top but it also allows for the train to teter as weve seen it do. This is much more like Xcelerator and wont happen. It could, but chances are far less than on Dragster. 2. The catwalk is at the top for maintenance reasons. Haux, you worked at CP but you missed something cool unless you did see this. I saw it before the season even opened and I know you dont get there till schools over but I was there getting my pass processed and walked into the park through an open gate (yes..I know...bad me. Hey, everyone said hi to me!) and I walked by Dragster which had workers climbing THROUGH the track tethered by lines linked somewhere around the 200ft mark. they did have a few cherry pickers there but they were mostly climbing in and around the truss track by themselves. They could easily work their way up to the top and use that platform at the top to inspect that area. 3. I doubt the brakes reduce the G's from "lethal" to "Tolerable". To me, it is that they just needed a smaller footprint and opted to throw the brakes earlier on the hill rather than drag the footprint out more. While the hill is small, the parabola is WIDE. I highly doubt that those brakes just before the apex (which seems to be 10-20 degrees worth) take off enough speed to drag the ride from lethal, or even hurtful negatives to tolerable negatives. -

Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
Real replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maybe if you held your head back like the instructions say, you wouldnt get that headbang. Ive rode in nearly every seat since Ive tried that technique and nope, no headbanging. It only headbangs for those people who ride limp like theyve had a heart attack, or, like many other guests, like to stick their neck out. Why? I have no clue. You open yourself up for pulling or straining your neck and I dont care who you are, thats not fun. Worst: Beast - the helix was nothing and we wasted ALL of that speed just to go up the lift hill so we could do this dumb double helix then immediatly end. wtf? Best: Storm Runner - I have other rides that tie, but, I just love that switchback turn with the ejector air to finish. -
Superman update Amazing photos.

All while drinking a beer in his office. That scene is priceless. I came out of that movie the first time and my cheeks hurt so badly from laughing so hard. I saw it twice and they didnt hurt, but, still as freakin funny. Look Ron! Im riding a furry Tractor! Ok...enough thread hi-jacking.

Julie's Epic WDW Ongoing Trip Report!
Real replied to USRoadTripper's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
"Disney, take note...this is the kind of picture you get when your photographer poses you facing into the sun! Horrible! Who would buy a picture that looked like this?!?!" If they took it with the sun behind you, they wouldnt even be able to make out your face because you would be backlit. Sun + behind subject = no detail on subject. It sucks, but its life. They could use a flash, but that would look horribly unbalanced with two dominant light sources and using a flash in the daytime is ALMOST as stupid as people using flashes in stadiums when they are like 200ft from the subject. I wonder how many pictures from say, the super bowl turn out with the back of someones head fully illuminated and nothing else... -
^^Thats ironic...the litter that our big baby came from included a black female with white spots almost in the same places and we named her Princess as well before we gave her away. We kept the large, dominant grey male. However dominant he is, hes the sweetest most loyal cat I have ever come across. He acts more like a dog than a cat sometimes. Heck, hes 16lbs of male cat muscle so when he sits up in the yard, most people ask if its our small dog.

^^^Couldnt Agree more about Cornball Express. I rode it first in the morning/afternoon with basically an empty train and back seat was great. It wasnt like OMG but it was enough that it jumped to my top 3. However, this last year I went at night on purpose because I had heard its far more intense. Plus I went on a saturday to ensure the ride had people on it and OMG the back seat was RIDICULOUS. The airtime almost hurt I was being slammed into the buzzbar so hard. Its a totally different ride at night and at night with a full train is carries unbelievable amounts of speed over those tiny hills. It was just simply amazing.
