Cathy, Vegas just seems more rock n' roll oriented (Hello...The Killers), so that's why I suggested it. Yes Beemer I would gladly have taken this park in Nashville as a semi band-aid to our loss of Opryland. We do already have a tourist industry based on music...country music that is, but that's all changing now somewhat with bands like Kings Of Leon, Be Your Own Pet, Paramore, The Raconteurs all based out of here. Even Jack White lives here now. Maybe it should've been built in "Detroit Rock City".

Mark's Postcard Paradise

WOW another great addition Shane! I love seeing these especially rare cards (notice how the back says Six Flags Over Mid-America). My memory may be incorrect, but I think it was located where BTR is now. I was able to ride this awesome Schwarzkopf coaster both at SFOMA in 1982 and again when it was moved to SFAW where a tunnel was added to the first drop and it was renamed Viper. I found it still running great on SFAW's closing weekend 3 years ago, and it's too bad it got trashed. It would've made a great addition to any park. According to RCDB, there are only 5 Looping Stars left operating today. -
This is too bad as I thought the idea for the park was great. As said by others, the location chosen was probably not the best for such a high entrance fee type park. I think it possibly could've done very well in Vegas or near Orlando. Did anyone get postcards from the park? If so, I would love to see them posted over in my "Postcard Paradise" thread.

Peter...awesome pics! I really miss Japan now too. Yes the Drunken Barrels at Sea Paradise are the greatest ever! Too bad they're so far away from me. Hopefully you got another spin on them this time after our amazing death ride last year! Thanks for sharing these...looking forward to seeing more Intamin sex! -

Shane, I can think of one thing I would love to see in your retro vids collection, and that's the tv commercial SFOG did when Mind Bender opened back in '78. I remember the ad featuring a knight in armor riding it. Yes y'all SF used to make commercials which were actually related to individual parks...amazing I know right? Anyway, I've not found it online anywhere so just thought by chance you might have it fom your IAAPA days. -

SFNERules...awesome postcards. I really like the Gravity Group one! Quite a collector's item there. Thanks for sharing all of those great cards with us. coasterfreaky...I actually had not ever seen that OL vid. What a great find from Shane's collection no less! It's so good to see The Barnstormer in action as well as the Intamin Screamin' Delta Demon bobsled. Love the Flock of Seagulls music too. Shane can you elaborate any about the making of that vid? -

Shane that's surely a RARE postcard now. Very cool! I like the "awesome, upward corkscrew" description and noticed the WB copyright is 1993. Is this card from that year? -

Bingo CTU Agent! Well said my friend. I can understand some of the feelings being mentioned here, but there are plenty of other Biblically based churches that don't practice a stereotypical type of Christianity. Honestly, I don't get the feeling this park will be anything like anyone's preconceived notions of church. Ok...enough devil's advocating from me. -

Then again a certain little Irish rock band has done quite well over the years mixing religion and rock music. I think if done well the same could be pulled off for a theme park and actually could be quite interesting. Just playing devil's advocate here. -

^ Shawn...yep you were there for at least part of that trip no less and the first person I met from this site (although at the time I'm not sure either of us were actual members here). While you weren't with me at SFWoA, we sure got in some good rides at that other north Ohio park back then. I'll look forward to you adding some of your goodies to this thread! I too agree with you coasterfreaky that the B&K airplane rides were better looking than their European designed siblings. Something about all that open steel lattice forming the tower used to make me all giddy inside. -

It is amazing how good the park still looks after 3 years of abandonment! I feel so fortunate I got to visit LL on Labor Day weekend of 2005 just a few weeks before the closing announcement. Good luck getting inside the park. Perhaps you could gain permission if it was for a school project. I'd love to see the pics from that. Thanks for sharing these photos! By the way, what happened to the carousel? Didn't it get bought? -

Wow I want that Lemax Tunnel of Terror ride! That looks awesome. The Witch's Hat swing ride reminds me so much of the swing ride at Mitsui Greenland in Japan. Cool stuff...thanks for posting those coasterfreaky. -

That's a really great video. It's amazing seeing all that wonderful old 70's/80's park footage. Love the new logo too Shane. Looks awesome! Woohoo I'm looking forward to October 1! -

Ahoy mateys...this week we sail back to the USA, and in honor of last Friday's "Talk Like a Pirate Day" I give all ye land lubbers a bit o' treasure from Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean! Not only has this ride spawned several movies, it also served as inspiration for a pinball machine too! I rode this in 2006 after it was Depp-afied. I did not find the addition of Jack Sparrow's character to be too obtrusive but rather enjoyed his presence. Yo ho yo ho....you know the rest of the song right? Back...aye! Front...wenches! -

Shane, those are GREAT postcards! I miss my little bulldozed home park Opryland and my first ever credit...The Rock n' Roller Coaster (or Timber Topper for you purists). Also, The Barnstormer airplane ride was one of my favorite rides there. I think there were only a few of the Bradley & Kaye models ever built (Old Chicago, WOF, and Opryland...any others?). That's a cool Texas Cyclone postcard too. More on that coming soon. Thanks for sharing all of the above! matteocrepaldi...please post those cards from Italy. I'm sure a lot of us would love to see them! -

Here is my Mega Zeph magnet I snagged while I was at SFNO in 2004. Back side of the magnet. Made in China...score! Weee...down the drop. The train moves! -
Saw this Halloween carousel at Target tonight: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=sc_qi_detail/602-7723119-8921420?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=&asin=B00192E05O and also this sort of dark ride looking thing in miniature: http://www.target.com/LED-Village-Skull-Cavern-Figurine/dp/B000P73V18/ref=sc_ri_3/602-7723119-8921420 They both looked pretty cool!
