Dig that crazy color scheme on SFMM's tower! WOW! One can only hope Shapiro is not only seeing this thread but taking it to heart. -

Well one fortunate thing for me that came out of Hurricane Katrina and the insane gas prices shortly thereafter was that I cancelled my trip to Branson and instead went on a much shorter day trip to Libertyland...little knowing that LL would close just weeks later! I'm glad I got to go for one last spin on ZP and Revo. I remember LL had a REALLY amazing water ride where you sat solo in a plastic "raft" and slid down a steep slide then freely skipped across a "pond" without any control. It was scary and great! LL's drop tower, Rebellion, was one of the scariest I've ever experienced as there was no pause at the top before the drop. One second you were going up up up, and then whoosh DOWN! It's now at Ghost Town in the Sky where it must offer really spectacular views of the mountains. The only other one I've ever similarly experienced is at Beech Bend, but it's an A.R.M. and I believe LL's was a Fabbri. Granted LL had gotten a bit run down towards the end, it was still a very fun place to visit back in 05. I hate to see that it's gone now. Thanks for digging this one out Shane! -
Thanks for the pics so far Lou. It's definitely helping me get through my first day back to work post-Christmas. Can't wait to see more!

It really is a great Christmas event. I went a couple of weeks ago when it was about 60 degrees so it was very enjoyable. Only about half of the park was open, but hopefully it's doing well enough to continue into a yearly tradition where the whole park is open. -

Yeah you need to pay penance for all those "smile and waves" through the Japanese train station rail pass check points. I still crack up thinking about that! -

Whoa! I could really go for some of those "mutilated human" hot wings. My mouth seriously just started watering when I saw the pics!!! Oh and thanks for the Kidtums Christmas card! *VERY* cute. -

FANTASTIC Shane. I remember seeing pics of Colossus when it first opened and thinking how massively HUGE it was at the time. I just could not believe it. Hopefully Jay can help return it to its former glory. -

Awesome pics. That certainly reminds me of one of those really weird and random Japanese parks we did Tom...perhaps a bit like Rakutenchi? -

Adam and I totally stumbled upon the Godzilla statue while looking for food...it was like it just appeared out of nowhere (fittingly), and we were like "There it is!" It's humorous how tiny it is. That was such a random day walking around Tokyo as we stumbled upon the Intamin half pipe on the roof of the building as well. Sorry you missed Godzilla Barry! But on the bright side, that just gives you another reason to return to Japan. Oh and Wonder Rakutenchi has a Godzilla arcade game. I have pics of Elissa playing it to prove it too! -
I went tonight. There are a ton of light displays that you drive through to get to the parking area which was in the back of the park and a different area than they usually use for parking. Only Rumbler was open as far as coasters, and about half the flats were open including Shock Drop. It was sprinkly wet and warm (66 degrees!), and Rumbler was running really well. You can buy 50 tickets for 20 bucks or buy individual ones. I only rode Rumbler a couple of times which was 6 tickets ($3.00) a ride. Overall it's a great tradition they've started and I recommend checking it out...just don't go expecting all of the rides to be open.

When in Palm Springs, I want to visit Shane's Amusement Attic! Thanks for posting all this GREAT old stuff. I too have boxes and boxes of brochures, maps, merchandise sacks/bags, collectibles from parks and ride companies dating back to the 70's which I started collecting when I was very young. It's nice to see things I don't have in my collection though as well as see that others appreciate this kind of stuff too. All of these threads are bringing back memories from my childhood when US parks did seem to be more magical and ride companies more imaginative. I hope you continue to share more from your attic! By the way, do you happen to have anything from The World of Sid and Marty Krofft that was in Atlanta?

I believe the Togo ride model name is "Windstorm". I've searched the web and can't find anything about it however. The only other one I've ever seen was at Expoland on this same trip. The one at Pal Pal seemed a bit more vicious. Oh and thanks for the complement Lou. Ian does rock! "Let me put you in the picture, let me show you what I mean...." -

Shane these park histories you're doing are AWESOME! I love reading about and seeing memorabilia from all the defunct theme parks from the 70's and 80's. As a kid, I remember my parents driving me by Circus World on the way to WDW and how I wished we had enough time/money to visit it. Can't wait to see more of these reports! -

^^^ OL featured more than country music...it even had a rock n roll section of the park. -

Shane this is seriously great material of what would be my current home park were it still around. Too bad it's gone as it really was a park the whole family could enjoy. I grew up going to OL every summer and loved it. Thanks for the trip back in time! -
