  1. Bob, I fear if your records are sitting in the attic I wonder if they are even playable now. How hot does it get up there?
  2. ^ Great photo! I would love to see that chairlift porch swing in Telluride...well I'd love to see Telluride in general. I was out picking around Nashville today when I went in one antique store and was just given a FREE pair of K2 snow skis and poles! They will be a cool addition to my back deck decor.
  3. You can't properly celebrate Valentine's Day without a little chocolate in some form or fashion. This postcard from chocolate mecca, Hersheypark, arrived at the Paradise courtesy of my good friend, Ryan, with whom I've done several TPR trips. He always sends me great cards wherever he travels, and this is one of the best...Lightning Racer! It is without a doubt my favorite racing coaster I've ever ridden. Thanks again for the card, Ryan! Oh and also, here's a little flashback to the earlier days of Hershey with some 1981 promo materials. Kisses. What's inside this folder? Spending money! Sweets from 1981 <3 this gatefold! The Reese's Siamese twins are a little creepy but still adorable too. Let's play spot the Intamin wheel. A cyclops eating chocolate is a great theme for an Enterprise. Oooh there's the Intamin wheel photobombing again! More 1981 goodness from Chocolate Town I'm going to eat you little girl! Remember kids it's spelled s-c-h with an f on the end. Gertrude...are you hiding somewhere out there? Amish Mafia! Hershey really is a fun park. Happy Valentine's <3
  4. ^I like Bojangle's and take my mom there for breakfast sometimes. They always bring around free Bo-berry biscuits and cinnamon rolls which are scrumptious.
  5. Taco Bell announced today a new flavor for their Doritos Locos Tacos...Cool Ranch! Coming March 7th.
  6. I thought I was Opryland tapped out, but here's a few photos from the Nashville Pickers junk store in case anyone has some extra spending money and time to refurb...you know you want this for a backyard swing!
  7. Does that mean you no longer have the cardboard/paper gun that came with the Love Gun vinyl? Sadly, I've lost mine somewhere along the way!
  8. In a somewhat related note, I have decided to trick out the wooden deck on the back of my house to a snow skiing theme. Since the deck is elevated, I need a ski lift chair to hang from underneath. I love grilling out there during the warmer months!
  9. Well, as Gröna Lund is in Stockholm, it would be hard to be the tallest structure in Gothenburg... But it will be the second tallest in Stockholm, only beaten by The Kaknäs Tower (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaknästornet) It will still be the taller than all the buildings in Gothenburg, the tallest thing in Gothenburg is Liseberg's Atmosfear. Oops, where is my mind?! Thanks for the correction and information.
  10. I may have missed this, but will the Starflyer be the tallest structure in Goteborg? I don't remember too many other tall buildings there.
  11. Plättar looks good. Do people eat them with a syrup or something to make them sweet? I remember Ryan and I got the meatballs in the area near the Peter Pan darkride. They were so GREAT. I wonder if the new BK will have them since they've really been expanding their menu here in the US. It would be a tragedy if the park has removed them completely! Thanks for the pics of the new construction, Peter.
  12. If they are 5th grader girls on Shivering Timbers you can beat it is the worst ride of your life.
  13. ^^ Crap, I can't believe School Kids closed. That's a bummer. I remember only getting to visit there once when I came over to see Interpol play at the 40 Watt. <--- Good to hear the record store there is still in operation. Anyway, nice to see another TPR vinyl collector. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with Grimey's. They're always having cool in-stores too with live bands so you may want to check their calendar from time to time before making a trip over. I've seen some awesome bands play there for free. Oh, just remembered, Record Store Day is a great time to visit! In addition, we have Third Man Records (Jack White's empire) which also has bands playing live occasionally. And then there's several other vinyl stores around town. Be glad to help you out if you're ever over this way.
  14. Most importantly, are there any new food stands featuring Swedish meatballs with lingonberry sauce?
  15. ^I imagine Athens is a great place to hunt for vinyl records although it might be quiet picked over by all the hipsters. Is School Kids still there? What about that store next to the 40 Watt? If you're ever in Nashville, we have some GREAT records stores here you should check out - namely Grimey's, which is probably the best record store in the southern US if not eastern half.
  16. Thanks for helping get this omittance corrected, Robb! Texas Giant is the main reason I'm so interested in the poll results this year.
  17. Hooray! I can't wait to see how Texas Giant ranks. Wait...why is it not on the list?
  18. I can see this being the most popular attraction.
  19. The park layout has been revealed at the Ole South website: http://www.olesouthusa.com/ .
  20. Was the wooden coaster ever more than a rumor? I don't remember hearing a thing about it. Do you have any details?
  21. Thanks Dave. I think you would have enjoyed the park a lot. December 31, 1997 was Opryland's last day of operation, and it's hard for me to believe it's been defunct 15 years as of today. Finally, I'm tapped out of Opryland memorabilia, but here's one last glimpse of the park. Thanks for looking, and I hope you have enjoyed this trip down the Opryland memory lane! I recently found this 1989 postcard at a Nashville Wal-Mart...15 years after Opryland closed! Though the park is gone, you can still ride the General Jackson paddlewheeler showboat today. Here's another recent find from Wal-Mart...a 1992 aerial photo postcard of the park. The 1993 brochure featuring the sequined country music legend himself, Porter Wagoner! R.I.P. Opryland With love from Music City, USA!
  22. I've never tried snowboarding, but I love skiing! Unfortunately, it's been a terribly long time since I last went. That was at Snowshoe in West Virginia (love the lodge and village being at the top of the mountain). I was there on a New Year's Eve when it came a huge snow storm, so my buddy and I got snowed in and had to spend another day skiing (darn!). One of the best New Year's Days ever!
