^If you look towards the bottom you can see Galaxie! I used to love the skiing and water shows they had on Lake Charles. They added the water park (Hurricane Reef) in 1992 so I think that's when the majority of the shrinkage took place.

^I'm kicking myself right now. I flew down to Miami 3 years ago and drove right past it. Unfortunately there was no way I was going to be able to convince any of my family members to make a trip as we were in Miami for a wedding.

^Yeah, I didn't ride it until 2006 so I never experienced a "good" version of the ride.

^I hated Hypersonic and so did a lot of other people. You pretty much nailed it--the launch was the only thing the ride had going for it. I believe it was closed mainly due to being a maintenance nightmare. The park tried to sell it without any success and then it was just scrapped.

I'd love to see something like an accelerator (something to get rid of the bad taste of Hypersonic) or an impulse in that area.

You should be able to fit. I'm 6'2 and was in the 290-300 range last year and had no problems riding.

I305 on Sunday

Finally made it to KD today. It was a perfect day weather wise--mostly sunny and in the 70's. My buddy and I arrived at the park at around 2 and got our passes processed then headed for Dominator. Fun ride and good way to start off the year. We then headed by Volcano but passed as the line seemed long. We then rode I305 times--1 in the very front and 2 in the very back. It's definitely as good, if not better than the first 2 months of last year. Both my friend and I had some gray-outs but we think they were intensified because neither one of us had had much to eat. We decided to head across the park and got a ride in on Rebel Yell. We sat in the 3rd seat and I'd say it was an ok ride. My friend enjoyed it a bit more. Next up was Volcano which ran really well. We finished the day off with 2 more rides on I305. We were only there about 4 hours but the crowds were light and rode enough I305 to whet our appetites for more rides throughout the year!

Considering the magnitude in difference between the 2 parks I think I'm smart enough to make an educated guess on the situation and still solicit advice. Cedar Point and Kings Island are similar types of parks and I was suggesting that after being at one for 2 days she might want to go to a totally different type of park for a change of pace. Judging by your suggestion I wasn't too far off.

I haven't been to either park but after doing Cedar Point for a couple of days a change of pace might be nice so I'd choose Waldameer. You won't be rushing around trying to fit so many things in as you would at KI. Just my 2 cents.

^In a similar vein to Mindy's question, would I be insane to do a Cedar Point trip 4th of July weekend? I can't make it for Coastermania like I wanted. I'd still like to do Kennywood and Waldameer as well.

So are there a lot of people going this weekend? I'll be out of town but I'd like to read some I305 V 2.0 feedback!

I haven't been to this park in about 20 years. I think it was originally called Jungle Falls. They then expanded around 1985 and changed the name to Wild Water Rapids. Around 1987-88 Motor World was added and the whole location changed its name to Ocean Breeze. I wonder if the original slides from when I went in the early 80's still stand. I do remember the big gorilla, Humongous, standing outside the parking lot but they took him down at some point and you could see him rusting/rotting away in a field. Did they bring Humongous back at some point?

I'm going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg on Saturday. What should my last coaster be?

They leave the lights on for ERT events like at East Coast Bash last year. The ride is typically ridden in the dark though.

Aaaarghh--such a nice day today and weekend ahead. Would rather be I305-ing. Oh well... 3 more weeks!!! (for me)
