  1. You mean "fun?" I take it this short little proto provided more of a satisfying ride than the wing riders.
  2. Nice get, Alveys! I have yet to ride a 4D of any kind. I'm glad to see they're still improving on the technology. I wonder if the B&M wing rider coasters had implemented such a feature they'd be more well received.
  3. Ha! I can't believe I just read an 8-page thread on a Vekoma Invertigo... For what it's worth, I enjoyed this ride when I rode it in 2006. I lucked out that summer in regards to Vekoma inverted shuttles. I also rode Deja Vu at SFoG, which blew me away at the time (I had a pretty low coaster count back then).
  4. I didn't visit any parks in 2013 (or 2012 for that matter) and haven't gotten a new wooden credit since 2010. I also haven't submitted to this poll since 2011. However, I went through that list and switched a few around that I had fonder memories of. Anyway, I expect to add quite a few more to this list in 2014. I really think Lakeside Cyclone is underrated. Granted, my wooden list isn't that long. Also, once you get out of my top 6, there's really nothing that spectacular or memorable. 5. Considering that Dorney's only remaining woodie was built 90 years ago, I'd say that those are all fairly recent. And all of those parks are among the biggest in the chain with top of the line attractions. I don't think they need a new wooden coaster (well, Cedar Point could), but I feel that Dorney deserves a GCI the most out of any Cedar Fair park. KD could be thrown in there too. Actually, I agree with you and was only teasing. Dorney certainly falls more in line with Valleyfair, Worlds of Fun, and CGA in the Cedar Fair chain of parks and it's odd that they're on the outside looking in as those parks all received new GCI's in the past several years. While it would be nice if the parks I mentioned in my post received a solid GCI or Gravity Group, they certainly aren't lacking for attention in receiving other stellar rides.
  6. Depending on one's definition of "modern" you're way off about Dorney. --KI's most recent is Beast (1979)--seeing as how Son of Beast turned out --CW hasn't had a new woodie since 1981 --CP's last woodie was Mean Streak in 1991 --KD and Carowinds' each last woodie were Hurlers in 1994 (20 years ago) Anyway, I'd like a modern woodie for BG and KD!
  7. Kings Dominion is 20 minutes away Busch Gardens is 45-50 minutes away Six Flags America is just under 2 hours I might be moving to Colorado later this year so I guess this would change to Elitch Gardens, Lakeside, a bunch of FEC's, and Cliff's
  8. Ha--love those cloudy/foggy Kingda Ka pics! Good work!
  9. Nice!!! I hope I'll be able to attend!
  10. I'm loving this TR! And, yes, I do feel lucky to live in Richmond (even though I haven't taken advantage of my nearby parks the past couple of years).
  11. Hah! I would love the return of a Haunted River like attraction. That drop used to scare me as a kid and even when I got into my teens it would get my heart thumpin'.
  12. Great news! The only Arrow suspended I've been on is BBW. Looking forward to riding this next year!
  13. A mega-lite would definitely be welcome but I also like the looks of the latest Premier LSM's. Either way, as others have mentioned, I'm just psyched to have a chance to visit this park. A few years ago that looked pretty unlikely. Anyone know what the height restriction for the mega-lites is?
  14. Thanks for the update. I plan on going late tomorrow afternoon. Glad you helped break I305 in for me today.
  15. It also leads me to believe we might see a pretty astounding attraction in 2015 with some thought behind it.
  16. We were saying the greatest enhancement they could make to Anaconda (and the park) would be to remove it. As in addition by subtraction. You can only polish a turd for so long.
  17. I had to rack my brain just come up with these few. Pleasant Surprise: Revenge of the Mummy USF: Just pure unadulterated fun Kumba: I knew it was going to be good but I wasn't ready for how amazing it turned out. Unpleasant Surprise: Wildcat HP: I don't mind rough woodies but this seemed severely flawed when I rode it.
  18. My thoughts exactly. That coaster stands in a location that could be conducive to some pretty sweet modern coaster designs.
  19. It's most definitely a pipe dream but in addition to that extra station, I would love to see some enhancements to the ride itself, like an added element. Maybe a banked curve or helix or something. The ending always seemed so abrupt.
  20. ^^^Agreed. KD lost a lot of its charm during the Paramount years.
  21. Wow. So we really may see the return of the singing mushrooms.
  22. Well, I'm psyched. I'll b going to Hershey next weekend and it will be my first visit since 2010. I meant to go last year for Skyrush, but you know, life and things. I'm really looking forward to these restraints. As Dalton from the faux classic 80's movie Road House once said, "Pain don't hurt."
