  1. I guess a disappointment for me was never getting to go to HRP/Freestyle. Not that it was mind-blowing park but it just sucks that all these rides and attractions are just sitting there unused. And we don't know when or if they'll be available for another park to snatch up. I guess another disappointment to me was I305, not the actual ride but local area enthusiast reaction to the ride, trims, etc. I think the dissidents were fewer and far between but they sure as hell made the most noise. All that hemming and hawing (I can't believe I just used that phrase) and self-entitlement. My brother, who is not a roller coaster enthusiast by any means, rode it in its least desirable format--after the trims, but before the soft restraints. He told me he thought it was the best damn ride he'd ever been on.
  2. ^Agreed. That was probably my favorite ERT on a ride (not that I've had too much). Everyone seemed pretty happy and jazzed up about the ride. Just wasn't sure about the reception of I-232. I'm really excited to try this next configuration out next spring. Could it be enough to topple my current #1 El Toro?
  3. ^Robb-- On the IntimidaTour trip, were you able to gauge which version of Intimidator people liked more?
  4. Sorry, Chuck. This was my fault. I'll blame it on my AD/HD
  5. While I kind of had my heart set on Intamin, something in the vein of Blue Fire would be cool. A lot of the inversions on BF seem similar to what you could get on Alpengeist and Griffon. I wonder if the manufacturer were to be Mack if we'd see a totally different layout from BF.
  6. I also believe Motorworld in Va Beach has had some coasters (kiddie coaster? wild mouse?) but I was talking more about maybe a lot somewhere between Atlantic and Pacific Avenues. I guess it's probably a little too late and that area's already overly developed for a coaster. I was thinking of an Avalanche style woodie or something. I haven't been to Va Beach in a while but the last time I was there seemed to be all these rules and laws. I'm sure it would be a headache to get zoning for something like that.
  7. ^Not to get off-topic, but I really wish there were a small seaside amusement park with a good medium-sized coaster in Va Beach. I don't know if there are issues preventing this from happening but it's something I'd like to see.
  8. I don't buy into the alcohol is a disease argument either. "Some critics of the disease model argue alcoholism is a choice, not a disease, and stripping alcohol abusers of their choice, by applying the disease concept, is a threat to the health of the individual; the disease concept strips the substance abuser of responsibility."
  9. ^Do people get hospitalized for AD/HD? Anyway, I used to think AD/HD was one of those made up disorders until after I described to a doctor a problem I was having with a class I was taking. He prescribed an AD/HD medication for me. Before I filled the prescription I did some reading, online tests, etc. I never had much of the "H" part of it but have trouble concentrating, staying focused, etc. I think the criteria for diagnosing it has changed so people diagnosed with AD/HD may experience and deal with things differently. As far as waiting in lines at theme parks, like most people, I look at it as the nature of the beast and it's never too intolerable for me.
  10. ^Agreed but we're talking about Jeff Johnson credits.
  11. ^Possibly 4? 1)Opening weekend version 2)Trims 3) New restraints 4) 2011 version
  12. ^^Robb--you need to come back to KD opening weekend and take some more video! I know you enjoyed both versions of I305, but did you like a particular iteration more than the other? What we get in I305 will be a perfect marriage of the the two--trimless first drop and soft restraints!
  13. Overbank turn? Probably too radical of a reprofile. While I think one would have been cool I'm kind of glad the low-to-the-ground turn will remain in some form.
  14. Maybe they'll get a discount on the Intamin prefab that will replace Hurler (wishes...)
  15. I love Publix! I don't have one where I live
  16. I wouldn't wish Kat on anyone.
  17. I'm trying to make it to Christmas Town at some point too. TPR Christmas Town takeover?
  18. It would be funny if Robb ended up acting as a sort of advisor to them.
  19. Is there time travel involved? The planned meeting is for January 5, 2010!
  20. Oooo--Cental American Intamin!
  21. Supports like birch trees? Grizzly-themed cars? Count me in!
  22. He probably got re-involved since he was the primary financier (that's probably not the appropriate term for involvement with this debacle) for purchasing the ride. Now it all seems to have stalled. Edit to add: I'm just wondering how these two got together and how this all transpired. Random coaster enthusiast in Ohio A: Who wants to go in with me on saving the Big Dipper? Random coaster enthusiast in Australia B: What's a "Big Dipper"? Coaster enthusiast A: It's a wooden roller coaster standing but not operating in a defunct park in America. Coaster enthusiast B: What's a wooden roller coaster? They don't have those where I live. Coaster enthusiast A: I like the cut of your jib. I choose you! Coaster enthusiast B: What's a jib? And who do I make the check out to?
  23. I wonder if one industrious enthusiast could copy his methods (with Mitch's permission, of course) and try to conduct the poll him/her-self.
  24. Gotta go with Batwing and Deja Vu (the one at SFoG). I loved Expedition Everest and Rock N Roller Coaster too but I can't really count them as favorite Vekomas because Disney probably had more control over those than Vekoma did.
  25. If only Robb could confirm this...
