  1. Rollermonkey, I'm pretty sure that vertical section is traversed upwardad after the launch. I read a description of the ride and it said the coaster launches into a "top hat" before zipping outside. And wow to the pics of the track being unloaded. This is getting really interesting.
  2. The existing Aqua Trax uses both electromagnetic launching and a traditional chain lift. The variety adds to the uniqueness of the experience. I'd love to have one at CP but I'm open minded about the possibilities.
  3. Bad news... but at least the rider wasn't hurt at all. That's all the counts.
  4. Four possible reasons... 1) Prototype... Needs to be built now to work out all the kinks in time for opening 2007. 2) Really big-where they need to start building it now... 3) Avoid winter '06 and have the thing done by the fall. 4) To mess with our heads.
  5. I chill until I'm at the top of the lift, then hands up. the only ones I don't do with hands up are SLC's, Boomerangs, some Arrows, SFNE's Cyclone... anything rough.
  6. The one in Korea has a nice little launch, about 0-50 in 2 seconds, and uses chain lifts as well. They are capable of steep climbs and drops as well as highly banked turns, but no inversions. I'd be extremely excited to have on at CP. And they ALWAYS do this kind of stuff with new coasters. They could just let track show up, footers pop up and not say anything-but they tease... No matter what people are going to go to the point to try out this coaster, whatever it turns out to be. I think they'll go for a unique layout coaster rather than try to break any records. It's a "good direction" for the park to go in.
  7. Just wanted to say welcome... and looking forward to reading/looking at photos of Turkish theme parks.
  8. Did you get a good look at the trains? Do they look the same as the other Intamin woodies Balder and Colosus?
  9. Kumba9, I believe the skyride you are reffering to is Ocean Park's in Hong Kong, China. The Alveys should be pretty familiar with this one. HUGE skyride.
  10. Nope, that's regular flat track. Intamins switch to different style track to ease the stress on the track. Square for high stress (Strata coasters) Triangular for common track (SFNE's SROS), and flat for the lowest stress (banked turns on the others SROSes) Banked Aqua Trax track.
  11. This thing is just visually stunning and looks intense as hell. Just one more reason I need to get to Europe soon.
  12. I always leave my phone in the car, just one less thing to worry about, especially on SFNE's collection of insane inverting flat rides.
  13. Err... there's the ones from last week. Time Warp (reposted) Batman TDK Splashwater Falls A not so new photo taken from Scream it's debut year. (2000) Heading towards the second tunnel. We are not worthy. Me riding with a random family. Ali didn't want to ride as the camera might have gotten wet.
  14. Here's the photos as promised... If the TPR staff would like to add any of these to the SFNE gallery, please feel free. There's a couple of nice ones. Inverting... 45 degree angle. I leave you with an on-ride shot of Thunderbolt. Thank you very much for checking out the photos. Thunderbolt with Superman Ride of Steel in the background. Vampire... I mean Flashback. Cyclone entering the second half of the circuit. Cyclone lookin purty with its new paint. Blizzard River was dead despite the warm weather. One of the many street performers SFNE now has. A nice touch. Awesome photo if I do say so myself. Good job Ali. Pandemonium a walkon?!? Believe it. Leveling out to come back down.
  15. The Energy Rush looks pretty neat. I've yet to ride a bad Moser flat ride and I've been on quite a few... -Gravity Tower -Energy Storm -Flip N Out -SuperLoop On Top -G Force (Top Star Tour) All awesome rides... since when have they offered a standup Maverick/Wind Shear?!?! Has anyone actually purchased one of these? Looks like THAT would be a painful ride.
  16. I definately hear where you're coming from martinb... I'm still surprised AK and DCA have wild mouse coasters. Hopefully the ride is dark enough (and the track is covered enough) where you can't recognize the layout. It will be interesting to see the quality of the theming put into this ride. This is probably going to be my first Maurer Sohne spinning coaster, so not a clone to me.
  17. Woah... new wallpaper alert! Black Mamba looks sinister now that all the details are in place. I think the coolest looking coaster is California Screamin' at DCA.
  18. Great photos, nice to see more progress on El Toro. Hopefully you give Nitro a chance in the future, B&M speed coasters are awesome. Looking forward to Coaster Celebration this year!
  19. You said evereyone does Flroida... Why not try out the N.E. coast... Six Flags New England (home of the best coaster in the world... see avatar) Lake Compounce, Canobie Lake, then head south for Dorney, Hershey and Six Flags Great Adventure. (Kingda Ka is cool but not worth an entire trip...) All that's within 6 hrs of eachother.
  20. The corkscrew patterned footers could actually be "bunny hop turns" like the ones found on SROS (SFNE)/ Speed Monster etc.
  21. I really like JTA but as previously mentioned the theming could be a LOT better. There's a lot of tricks that don't work that would really add to the ride. The flume drop is really good though.
  22. Welcome Spike-UK! Here is the aformentioned thread: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=177
  23. Don't they consider cold in Cali like 65 degrees? My workplace did a polar bear plunge in new bedford in the beginning of april into the freezing sea and there was an insane amount of people that showed up! Madness I tell you!
