  1. Hey you made SFMM look really nice, makes me want to trek on up there and pay a visit
  2. When I worked for Hot Dog on a Stick at the LA County Fair, I would trade hot dogs and lemonade for rides and games. Good times.
  3. ^That and several more! It's tough to get "new" shots at any theme park these days but this TR totally succeeded. Good job!!
  4. OBITUARY: Roger Broggie Jr. dies at 73; audio-animatronics whiz for Disney Roger Broggie Jr., began work for Walt Disney by tending his backyard railway. He helped give life to Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln and other theme park marvels. www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-me-roger-broggie-20130116,0,3201032.story
  5. Cool report. Kinda wish there were captions instead of a constant reminder that Steven Franczek on flickr took all the photos, though.
  6. The dining plan makes sense, I know when I was a pass holder, I rarely spent $99 a year on food items. Soda, yes. Food, not so much. I think they are hoping to sell it to those that buy the pass just to have it and end up visiting only a handful of times a year. If you show up after 3:30 every day, it would take over 9 visits to pay it off...it's a lot of visits to anybody who lives outside of the SCV.
  7. I thought Primeval Whirl could theoretically run that way but the rides are a little too far apart and...well nah. Close though!
  8. ^Once again, use of the phrase 'flat ride' will totally void your entry. You should have said something like 'They need more of those spinny rides with no lines.'
  9. I've always thought some kind of tracked motion simulator coaster could be built. Something enclosed with a screen but you are seeing something MUCH COOLER than what the coaster is actually doing.
  10. The trick to a SFMM survey is to request airtime while coming off as the GP. Once they can smell the enthusiast stench they just stop reading, like I did.
  11. I have to go with the 1st gen tower as well, I liked Freefall at SFMM. There are many reasons I like it more than the larger towers at parks today. First of all, the whole ride experience is better. You scoot back, take an elevator lift, scoot forward, drop and maneuver back into the station. It has more of a beginning middle and end. Second reason is the dead weight drop feel he ^ mentioned. Feels more out of control and more wild and until they tore it down, it was one of the only rides that gave me butterflies every time.
  12. Sounds trashy. Isn't the whole point of food trucks to be mobile?
  13. My friend is convinced...CONVINCED that his SFMM SP expires in May, the same month he purchased it. Is there any possibility of this being true? I am under the impression that SF Season Passes expire December 31st, period.
  14. ^Your avatar inspired me to post this...Drachen Fire had 2 notable elements: The 'cutback' inversion is what I think it was called The 'weird looping first drop element thing' is definitely not what it was called, but it's still very strange:
  15. Wow, cool report! The countryside around the park looks stunning.
  16. ^^That's really unfortunate. I would say that it's probably a small related group of unsupervised OC schoolkids whose parents have hired DL as their babysitter.
  17. ^I am certainly no expert, but there is no sign of any change within the parks regarding the gate, fastpass, dining, or hotels. These soft-runs you are seeing at WDW are non-existent out here. But hey, cut us some slack, we just got keen on the whole Earl of Sandwich thing I do understand what you mean about the 'Resort Experience' thing though. While I hate the idea (environmentally) of all those FP tickets printing every day, we really don't have the same necessity to streamline the guest experience that WDW does. I also may be in the minority here, but I kind of enjoy the whole wild west, do it yourself vibe that floats over the Disneyland Resort on busy days. Whatever that means
  18. ^If message boards qualify people as insiders, then we are all insiders. I think the RFID is a GREAT thing for Disney! Can't wait to see it out here on the West Coast once they perfect it!
  19. You know, back in the day when I got SFMM season passes, I always remember waiting a stupid amount of time to get it processed. This was from 1998 - 2002. I don't think I ever waited less than 45 minutes for these. One time I recall the line stretching all the way back to where that sheriff station is today. Took over an hour and a half. Perhaps this is something that SFMM has just deemed okay since it has been going on forever.
  20. I was thinking Desperado as soon as I saw the thread, but now that that's taken, I'll go with the kiddie coaster at a Drive-In Theater in Montana.
  21. I only visit in the off season and I have not ridden Superman in YEARS. Still have no idea what it's like backwards.
  22. What if they replace all of the anamatronics with CF trash cans???? WHAT IF?????!!!!?
  23. Shouldn't the artwork on the car say Jajajajaja? Just sayin'.
  24. With the recent release of "Pins" and a greater emphasis on Season Passes, I believe Knott's is once again vying to be the affordable option for the recently increased priced DLAP. All of their recent and future attractions so far have been for the family, and now this! My favorite attraction getting some love! I really like what is going on down there so far. Knott's appears to be re-discovering their niche in the affordable Family market and SFMM is basing their future off of the thrill market. I guess it's nice to finally see these theme parks emerging from competing with each other into a situation where they are offering different experiences. For such a long time it felt like KBF was trying to be the new SFMM and I think they have finally realized that they have the DL market right next door and should be focusing on that. I mean, I know it was a CF chain-wide promotion, but I thought it was a little silly seeing these 'Ride Warrior' commercials for the park that had notably less thrills than its competition. My current feelings are that CF is allowing KBF to operate more independently focused on its local market, like it did in the past.
  25. ^That's just the date stamp on the article. No decisions were made at 1:04PM this afternoon other than to publish this article.
