  1. Last time I was there, they served beer at Mooseburger Lodge.
  2. With this and Medusa Steel Coaster, it seems to me that I already have 2 trips planned to Mexico for next year! Can't wait!!
  3. I will definitely be riding that next year. Looks awesome!!!
  4. I couldn't find an official Six Flags Mexico (SFM) thread, so I thought I would revive this thread to announce that today was Medusa's LAST DAY EVER. I had the opportunity to ride it about 2 weeks ago and on the TPR Mexico tour. While it held up better than it's cousin Ghostrider at KBF, it has still seen better days. The local club in Mexico City says the rumor is that RMC might be involved with the future plans. Well see soon! Anyway, if you have not ridden it, you can go ahead and cross this one off your wishlist!!
  5. Cool report, it's pretty funny that your posts are getting hammered by the TPR word filters, though
  6. The food in Guadalajara was amazing. And everywhere!!!!
  7. There have been several other Dry Ice 'bombs' reported around the Anaheim area in the last few days, so I wouldn't be surprised if his bail is high due to the possibility that he may be responsible for those incidents as well.
  8. I couldn't believe the size of those Coronas at SFM. That whole park was such a surprise, even though that was probably the most 'meh' meal of the trip. Later that day we got tacos in the park and they were AMAZING!
  9. Most loopy single-circuit dueling coaster. In the world.
  10. I work hospitality so weekdays are actually better for me!
  11. True, but makes you wonder what happened to the "whatever your job is, do it as well as you can" idea. Still, would the pay would be significantly different to that on offer at Knotts or Disneyland? Those parks don't seem to have a reputation for unprofessional staff. Company culture plays a huge role in employee behaviour. SFMM also goes down to Sylmar to recruit a good number of their employees. Sylmar is not known for being the best neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley (though it has its nice parts!). I think a big part of the 'gang' issue they had is because of this direct solicitation from a gang neighborhood...they would hire shady people, and then those shady peoples friends went to hang out at the park. While they have more or less taken care of that issue, the fact is that they still recruit from less-than-stellar high schools. Anyway, I guess my point is that it's not like bad people are attracted to minimum wage jobs at sfmm, it's that sfmm goes TO the bad element and hires them! There are minimum wage workers out there that are pleasant and knowledable, so please don't blame the human being on the wage. I would imagine that it's a tough situation for sfmm to find good cheap labor considering the 'more' upper class neighborhood they are actually in where I would imagine a good number of teenagers leave for College.
  12. ^LOL yeah, that was fun juggling our plates, empty plates, cups, and constant new food on what felt like a square foot of table!
  13. I had also heard this Corona rumor as well before we went, but it's everywhere and people were drinking it. It seemed that in Mexico, most establishments would have 4 or 5 different kinds of Mexican beer, and Heinekin. I also learned that Modelo and Corona are the same company. That was yet another check off of the 'Everything I've heard about Mexico is false' list
  14. I kinda like watching WoC from Mickeys Fun Wheel. There is a seating area and they pump the music back there as well. You definitely don't get the full effect but I mean...it's fountains playing music. No FP needed and it's not crowded, either.
  15. The ride looks great! Thanks for the coverage.
  16. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with my jaguar thing.
  17. Robb, I do remember the Jay Thomas days and yes, the staff definitely had a bizarre sense of happiness then!! It's definitely gone way downhill throughout the park, except in a cozy little hamlet on top of a hill, where you can still hear a glimmer of days past. HAYAH!!
  18. I just wanted to throw this out there...the food, especially the tacos, at Six Flags Mexico was excellent. Their employees were also having a good time as well. Now, I believe that the ops were happy because the park clientelle was happy, and those two go hand in hand. I would personally have trouble working at SFMM and staying happy day after day with the guests it attracts. I guess my point is that SFM proved to me that somebody in the chain has it in them to do well, but perhaps the motivation to do so has a lot to do with the people attending the park. I'm not very well traveled but the vibe at SFM really made for an excellent day despite their lack of 'amazing' rides.
  19. Mexico was my very first TPR tour and I have to say it was amazing. Robb and Elissa did a great job at planning this trip and I thought it was a great blend of culture and parks. Others have said that it was more 'relaxed' than other trips and I still felt like we saw and did a TON. I also managed to stay in Mexico a few extra days and got to enjoy three 'bonus credits' with a Mexican Coaster Club at a VERY 'Never In America' carnival. I will have to post a trip report at some point. I couldn't have asked for a better vacation!!!
  20. Nice report! As much as I dislike the name Chost Rider, I think it's going to be a really good match for the Boardwalk. Oh and what you saw in the air was full blown fog. We really haven't had a pollution problem for quite some time now. If were going to hate on So Cal at every moment we can, the facts might as well be correct!
  21. 5 hrs??? 3 people per 4 person capsle with the operator. 64/3 = 21.3333. which rounds to 22 times. Each trip is 10 minutes, so 22x10 is 220 minutes! I don't see that little arm getting up there, evac-ing 2 sets of seats, and returning to the ground all in 10 minutes. I can see maybe 10 minutes per set of seats, but not for the whole trip.
  22. I definitely think it's awkward and weird. I also brought up that I could see that element going away in the future to reduce costs on the ride, but Joey said that that likely won't be an issue because the energy consumption of the ride is much lower than other energy hogs in the park. That being said, I think the backwards launch thing would be a million times cooler if there was some kind of thematic element to it, like a mist screen in front of the track showing an animation that would warrant the car wanting to reverse. Like, "Oh crap! A yolo monster! Lets reverse the hell outta here!" I know that won't happen, but I think it would certainly complete the bizarre experience.
  23. So if I'm understanding this correctly, if Windseeker gets stuck in the future, they will wheel that huge yellow thing out to rescue the passengers? Last time it was stuck, I think they were up there for 5 hours? I can't imagine this thing getting installed and rescuing guests two seats at a time taking any less time than that. I guess I'm just totally confused as to what its purpose is. as opposed to how the problem was solved in the past.
  24. ^I agree with you completely. I don't think any of us were disappointing with what the ride delivers, its just kind of a shame to not use any of that potential from the worlds FIRST 160 foot camelback. A couple of turns afterward would have been nice. But, that being said, most really cool launch coasters are short anyway, and in comparison to Xcelerator, Ka, or Dragster, this one is actually quite a bit longer and has more to it.
  25. I can't wait to find out what the top secret Full Throttle Hot Wing recipe is And if the Full Throttle Hot Dog has anything to do with the Hot Wing. So much mystery surrounding this area. Oh well, YOLO!
