  1. Twisty red track in Mexico...I'm gonna start sounding like RD with this coaster....
  2. ^Yeaaah, once again, the park is looking great! The YOLO station is minimal and kinda lame but I have to say it does kinda fit the whole 'clubby' vibe they are trying to pull off in the area. Scaffolding is IN lol. I know it's fun to bag on SFMM; I even did it for a while. In fact, I stopped going for quite a while because I simply did not enjoy it anymore. However, this last visit was really quite pleasant. I do take into account that ops are almost always better in the winter, hence the timing of my visit. I also took somebody to the park who has never been and he thought it looked great too. I mean, really think about it...it's come a long way. Apocolypse, GL, B:TR, LL:DOD, and S:EK all have fairly well themed queues! Not even KBF can list that many nice queues for coasters or high thrill rides! Look, I'm all for bashing on a park when it's well deserved but I think they are truly taking an honest effort to focus their priorities! FWIW, we were surveyed while waiting for security, they asked 2 questions: 1) What are you here to ride...thrill rides or family rides? 2) Do you plan on riding any non-thrill rides? I also got a survey in the email after my visit. I dunno, like I said, baby steps.
  3. Nice report! I love how a few of their rides go under aquariums...very cool feature. Those crowds look terrible! I think I would have turned away in the parking lot!
  4. ^You know, the wings actually tasted pretty good, but once again, we couldn't get over the fact that we were served 7 tiny little chicken balls with a ton of cold french fries.
  5. I was at the park on Saturday last weekend, and I have to say that we had a really good time. The park was pretty dead, the longest we waited was maybe about 15 minutes for Green Lantern, Superman, YOLO, and Tatsu. X2 in the afternoon was a 2 train wait! The staff was all in a good mood, efficient, and happy. I saw lots of groupers before the stations, which I have not seen much of in the past. This is great news! The whole lapbar issue thing was basically a non-issue wherever I saw it being enforced. Because of the groupers, station noise was minimal and the guests were attentive. $11.99 for 7 yolo wings was totally offensive, yet I bought them anyway. The boneless ones have the circumference of a quarter. So basically like $2 a bite. We paid $25 for two of us to ride Dive Devil, and they let us go twice! This was an awesome promotion!!! Every coaster was running except for Revolution. Superman both sides! Only single train was on Batman, everything else had two. GL had 4 I think. Anyway, the park looked and felt good. It was a pleasant surprise and we had a great day!
  6. ^Good call, Robb! 2000 - 136n - - - - - - Son of Beast Kings Island OH 92 2001 - 131 - - - - - - Son of Beast Kings Island OH 123 Out of 163 it's pretty damn close to the bottom 20.
  7. Congrats to the top 20! Is this the first time that a 'new' coaster, or at least marketed as 'new' showed up on the bottom 20? (Hades 360)
  8. It's my understanding that Six Flags Mexico consistently has the highest attendance, guest spending, and guest satisfaction of any park in the chain.
  9. Article about the RC illness: Link www.latimes.com/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-cruise-ship-docks-20140129,0,5288966.story#axzz2rrIUV7VM As usual, it looks like RC handled the situation very well. Go RC!
  10. I basically did all of my coastering last year in Mexico and at the Disneyland Resort, so my list is a little weird: 1. Montana Infinitum @ La Feria 2. Superman el Ultimo Escape @ Six Flags Mexico 3. Medusa Wood Coaster @ Six Flags Mexico
  11. I used to kinda be a whore about it but really, I am drawn more to the parks and the environment now days, and the coasters come second to that. I have a greater sense of fun by knowing everybody around me is also having a good time. Am I weird?
  12. Cool report! Would really love to make it out to Spain one day...
  13. If they want people to listen to the spiels, they have to limit the amount of people crowding into the station. If they had a grouper allow a maximum of two trains worth of people into the station, it would be much quieter and perhaps people would actually listen to the safety talks. As it is and has always been, nobody can really hear anything in there even if they wanted to (I'm talking about Goliath specifically but certainly applies to other stations around the park as well). There is a lot of chatter here about people not paying attention but lets be honest, when is the last time you were able to actually hear the attendant and understand what they are saying? Most people know 'Gates open, hop in, secure safety bar.' The park is trying to introduce a foreign concept without altering the preparation leading up to that point.
  14. ^No need to be a debbie downer, SFMM has brought us plenty of exciting new attractions, and they will again in the future.
  15. It happens on occasion but I wouldn't count on it. I forgot to mention that Soarin has single rider as well, but its also massively inefficient. Only 1 or 2 people get in for each viewing.
  16. Yes. And use that fastpass whenever you can. Also, don't forget single rider on: Matterhorn, California Screamin, Grizzly River Run, Splash Mountain, Goofy's Sky School, Radiator Springs, and Indiana Jones (even though that single rider line is massively inefficient). Even when it's really busy, when you use the Fastpass correctly and utilize single rider lines (yes, even if you're in a group), you can have a pretty fulfilling day.
  17. I love road trip reports, and this one is off to a great start! Can't wait to see more!
  18. ^In fact, the person I watched it with was getting all tripped out by the information he was seeing. I constantly had to stop and be like 'Well, look, that was back in 1974. They haven't mentioned what's going on now.' I thought maybe they would, but it never happened. I had kind of forgotten how much influence television has on people until I recently met somebody who thinks 'Coven' is real. No joke. Anyway....not much more to say about that.
  19. Great start and an enjoyable read! Thanks for posting!
  20. Cool updates! I have started to see the exercise equipment pop up at parks here in Los Angeles, so I think it's slowly starting to work it's way over here!
  21. All of this Blackfish talk inspired me to finally sit down and watch the film and see what's going on. Now, I went in with the knowledge I have been reading here for the last few months now, so that should probably be mentioned. Anyway, I felt that it was shot in an extremely sensationalist manner, that didn't really solve a story or have a true plot. They go from 'Whales are awesome' to 'capturing whales sucks' back to 'whales are awesome' and back to 'capturing whales sucks.' Then, it basically switches over and talks about how different trainers over the years have been attacked and injured. I didn't like how it took every opportunity possible to say the name 'Sea World.' It must have been in the film over 100 times. I also didn't like how it discussed capturing whales back in the 70's, but then doesn't mention anything about what has improved or changed since then. It just kind of drops that point and goes into Tilikum being crazy. It says Sea World separating animals from their families back in the 1980's was bad, but then doesn't mention whether or not that practice is still occuring. It fails to mention all of the other non-Sea-World parks around the world that are probably worse off places for those animals to be. At one point, they show some kind of incident report showing a list of every whale incident at Sea World. One of them started with 'Wearing a bikini, the trainer...' Really? An incident report would state the VERY FIRST THING as a trainer wearing a bikini? I highly doubt that. It just annoyed me that all of it's 'facts' come from at least 25 years ago, and then there is no resolution about those facts. It just switches over to crazy whale sensationalism halfway through. I didn't find it to be a very informative or believable film due to its lack of resolutions, but I can totally see how today's America can eat it right up. Kind of sad and disappointed that I had to add one more view to the list. Anyway, just wanted to chime in on my opinion of the film.
  22. To celebrate 10,000 thread views, here are 3 completely random pictures of Medusa under construction, taken Saturday, January 11th, 2014. From the parking lot oooh you can kinda sorta see track on the turnaround! Aaand inside the park where the queue begins. Or at least did. The future is a huge mystery.
  23. LOL yes I meant person!!!! And yes, you pretty much nailed it. Seems like some kind of bad 80's movie but in the best way possible... ...sorry I have a strange mind...
  24. ^Care to share what you know? Or...... Been going to SFMM my whole life, and went to SFM twice last year, I didn't recognize any of the attractions down there as something that used to be at SFMM. I'd love to know so I can be all nostalgic and ride it when I'm there again.
