  1. I don't understand all the desire to keep one side original. We (allegedly) have a company that turns crap coasters into 'top 10' coasters coming into town and we're really gonna say 'RMC, PLEASE fix half of our coaster. We would love that.' Huh, what? Then again, we got our 'half coaster' with YOLO so anything can happen
  2. I'm pretty sure the petition people are just trying to ride the Eyewitness News wave, and are really more after self recognition than support for leaving Colossus alone. "Hey mom, my petition page has over 1,000 views! I'm an internet sensation!"
  3. Woohoo! Six Flags Mexico is #1 in Latin America!
  4. ^It's probably going to be better because everything in Mexico is indeed, better
  5. Sorry, the roller coaster pictured is 'Montana Rusa' which was built in the 1960's by NAD. Colossus was built by IAD (which previously purchased NAD) and it's often thought that Colossus's design was inspired by that of Montana Rusa. On the plus side, at least we will have a Colossus-ish type coaster to continue riding, probably for years to come!
  6. ^Like this? Ironically, this is on on Colossus's older brother...
  7. I bet Scream! is overjoyed. It might even see...you know...LINES when the new attraction opens!
  8. What do you expect? SFMM KBF USH and DLR all have wayyyyyy too many nerds already!
  9. ^I would say because it's a more marketable event in the middle of August than it would be in September. Also, at least with Medusa at SFM, they were there the NEXT DAY getting it ready for RMC.
  10. Whatever they build, I hope they call it David.
  11. LOVE it!!!! Can't wait to get back down there! I was planning on going this month but $$$ says otherwise, so I hope by July they have Flashpass for the ride
  12. What I've heard, which is probably as un-true as every other rumor, is that once a restraint is added to a ride in California, that restraint type can't be removed. I think the dippin dots guy told me that....
  13. These are some really nice pictures of my home parks! Thanks for posting this!
  14. Thanks for posting this report, looked like a really fun and weird trip to be on!
  15. I'm curious, I'm assuming you rode Colossus Backwards? If so, you may not have known that those trains were actually built by B&M, and are the only wooden coaster trains the company ever made.
  16. The only rides on the Matterhorn that are even remotely comfortable (and by comfortable I mean 'a little better') is when you are seated in either rows 1 or 4. That's it.
  17. The thing with that hectic vibe though kinda goes with the territory of spending $137 to be there for one day and trying to cram everything in! We went to Knotts after 4pm the next day for $33 and the price alone allows you to just keep it chill and not worry about experiencing everything.
  18. I've been thinking about not renewing my AP this year simply because I just don't like who is hanging out at Disneyland these days. Whats up with the guys in biker vests? So stupid. For the first time in my life, Ill say it: The crowd at SFMM is more 'fun' than the know-it-all, midway hogging passholders at Disneyland. I guess I am saying this because I was there with a friend from out of the country, and we kept running into issues regarding entitled passholders either slowing us down, getting in our way, or just hanging out and taking up space. It took away from the possibility of accomplishing more than we actually got done. Totally turned me off to the whole park, probably for a few years. I say, eliminate the So Cal passes completely and only sell the $700 ones, but charge $1500.
  19. ^On the flip side, I DO think it's a really good park for what it is. There are many people on the forum that I think give it too much sh*t because it's 'cool to bag on sfmm.' Needless to say, I've gone more in the last year than I have in a while and I do think that the park does what it needs to do well. It's HUGE when compared to other parks and if you know anything about managing HUGE properties, they actually do it quite well.
  20. ^Now see, you would be hard pressed to find BETTER carne asada than the ones sold off the trucks! They have the best food!
  21. If SFMM's carne asada is some of the best you've had, you need to get out more!
  22. For years I have sometimes elected to stop by Knotts Berry Farm if I'm passing by, to "shop" for 45 minutes. If you are unaware, they have a 'Shopper Pass' where you stop by Guest Services and pay the current fee to enter the park. They give you a receipt that indicates when you must return (usually 45 minutes or a little more), and as long as you return by that time, you get your money back. You are then welcome to enter the park and "shop." Anybody know of other parks around the world that have something similar to a "Shopping Pass?" Or maybe a work-around on the fast pass system? Or food and beverage tricks? I just thought it would maybe be a cool thread idea...let's see how it goes! I want to make it VERY clear that I am not encouraging breaking park rules or abusing any programs, but rather just sharing some little known park secrets you may know.
  23. Although that was happening, I want to again mention that once the train was IN the station, the crew at Tatsu was among the most professional in the entire park. I think the issue was more the employees themselves just milling around the station, therefore forcing the operator to stall the car on the track. Often, both trains were in the station at the same time, which, again...kinda weird, Six Flags!
  24. It was actually almost going to happen here in California! A great read: http://www.yesterland.com/mineralking.html
  25. Something weird was happening on Saturday. Tatsu was running 2 trains / 2 stations, yet they were still stacking the train on the brake run. That being said, the crew was really 'on it' once they let the train in the station. One other thought/question: it's been YEARS since I've ridden Roaring Rapids. Took a spin and couldn't help but notice that there was only one raft on the conveyor at a time. I distinctly rember they conveyor having rafts back to back, often with a 'queue' still in the river. The line moved painfully slow. Did they recently cut capacity on the ride? And if they did, why?
