I wouldn't exactly refer to SFMM as a beautiful setting. Nor is the view of the Santa Clarita & San Fernando Valleys all that awe inspiring. Good point, but it'd probably be more interesting than the concrete and asphalt that we saw on Windseeker at KBF. Either way, I wouldn't be too surprised if we saw one in the near future as it is the only major SF park without a Star Flyer. I'm actually a big fan of the classic California look of the foothills surrounding SFMM and the Santa Clarita Valley (grass hills with dotted oaks), but I'm also a big fan of California in general so my opinion is a bit skewed Regardless, I would go ahead and say that aside from Pacific Park, SFMM has the nicest surrounding of any park in the LA area.

Dynamic Pricing in Parks
WFChris replied to ajfelice's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My friend and I rode the Dive Devil at SFMM for $25 total...and they let us ride twice. It was dead in the park, and I believe this price indeed reflected that. -

How are the wheels going to avoid those little bolts on the track? KIDDING. -
Out of curiosity for those that have done this before...can Jaguar! actually start causing motion sickness after a period of time? I liken riding Jaguar! to sitting shotgun in a car. I guess what I'm asking is...how can the entire train NOT come in first on this? EDIT: Just realized that the prizes are for fundraising...oops!

In terms of 'success' translating into number of installation and therefore profit...I would say: Vekoma...coasters all over the world in many many random countries...and generally gets the Disney contract Hell on that note it might be Pinfari...and/or whoever is pumping out all of these Wacky Worms!

Best and Worst SoCal Parks?
WFChris replied to 2012jarrett's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As you can see, it depends on what your looking for, and who is visiting the parks. Generally for a tourist, I would recommend: DL, DCA, SFMM, USH, KBF For a coaster enthusiast, I would recommend: SFMM, KBF, DL, DCA, USH Look, I get all the love for KBF (I love it myself), but for an out of towner, the park resembles so many other parks, and the coasters are not all that unique to the rest of the nation. Plus, it's kinda tiny. As locals, we love it because it is a 'real' and 'traditional' park. But from a lifetime of experience, KBF is not really the park that out of town people enjoy to get their 'LA experience.' Disneyland Resort will blow people away from a theme park as a whole experience. If your visitors are into movies, then USH is obviously going to be a hit for them. If they want a wild crazy roller coaster day, SFMM is the choice. If they want to go to a theme park that feels like home, or traditional, KBF is it. As you mentioned, it is difficult to side-by-side compare our parks. They are all for such a different demograph it makes it hard to made a definitive list. Los Angeles is a city that requires its visitors to know what they want and follow their instinct. That being said, figure out which offerings best suit your needs, and you should have a natural fit and a good time. My personal list would be: DL/DCA, SFMM, KBF, Castle Park, Scandia, Pacific Pier, USH. -

Actually, those look a little pricey. I have been going down to Mexico City every few months ever since the TPR trip, and I usually find myself paying no more than $320 out of LAX. I'm actually going down in a month on AeroMexico for $292. Another trick, if you have the time and resources, is to keep an eye on Volaris and Interjet flights out of Tijuana...sometimes they post fares for as little as $60. I took that route once, and while it is a huge pain in the ass, you save quite a bit of money. -

Robb, just curious, how does Parque Bicentenario in Mexico compare to these weird little European parks? I know the terrain is definitely not there but the idea seems the sameish. Anyway, I'd love to go explore these little European parks...one day I'll manage to get on a TPR Europe trip!!! -
Adventure City getting new coaster for 2013?

Pardon my ignorance, but why do the lifts flatten out at the top? It looks a little awkward to me. -
I always liked Mooseburger Lodge, good food, free drink refills, and only like a buck or two more expensive than the 'quick service' places. Oh, and the A/C. I don't think a sports bar is so out of place, I agree with Jew that the marketing is probably geared toward the adult parents that need a place to chill all day. A sports bar is much more appealing to a...lets be honest here...parent in their late 20's early 30's than a place with a moose that sings every 15 minutes (as much as I liked the strangely detailed themeing).

I'm totally cool with single rider and filling the train, but the last thing I want sitting next to me is some creepy old man ruining the ride by counting down and just kind of existing instead of enjoying the ride. It would ruin the experience for me, ESPECIALLY if I observed the park accommodating this for just him. Actually, now that I think about it, If I saw the park accommodating this, I would assume that it's some kind of 'Old Person Make-A-Wish' thing going on, which would also ruin the experience for me because I would feel bad for him. Either way, it's a lose-lose for me.

Sorry I'm late to checking this thread! I've been busy! I think I will should talk to him about it. I mean, now like at lunch we don't even talk anymore - we sit next to each other but don't say a word, which is awkward! It was getting better like twow eeks ago but now it got worse. I mean, when I walk into Media Crew in the mornings to help with my school's daily announcements, I'm the only person he doesn't say hi to and acts enthusiastic around, and honestly you have no idea how upset I feel! But a lot of it is my fault, if not all of it, and I just want to work things out. I think I will talk to him! I mean, when we were good friends he was one of the best people I have ever known, and I mean that in a nonsexual way. Also I am really happy about what happened on the Grammys. I am proud of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis! However, I read a news article that showed some anti-gay people's reactions after the show, and honestly you can't believe how mad I am at them! I mean, what is the big deal about two people of the same sex loving each other? How would they (the anti-gay) feel if they fell in love and were told not to marry because it is wrong and perverted? I am really glad that I do have friends who accept me for who I am! i've told some more people since! In fact, one of my friends, when I told her, actually came out to me as bisexual! I talked for like an hour, and she said she felt so great and revived that she ws going to come out some of her friends now! Honestly despite some of the bad stuff overall I feel much better than before I came out! Perhaps you should try to invite your buddy to do something outside of school? Like, hang out and do something you both enjoyed doing before it got awkward? If not that, this is one of those examples where the best solution may be to give it some time. High School is a tough time and it's really nice to see people being able to come out so young. 15 years ago (crap, now I feel old too!) it was a totally different ballgame, even here in Los Angeles.

I'd love to see something go in near Batman, it's so out of the way compared to everything else! -
^Mindbender and Montana Infinitum are nearly identical, I wonder if perhaps the fastest inversion is in Mexico? It DOES have 4 point harnesses....lol...
-
Cool question! I think the fastest inversion I have personally experienced is probably the first loop on Viper at SFMM? No idea though...
