  1. Great Pictures and Captions Chuck. Definatly looks like it has been a good trip. All three parks are on my to do list.
  2. Well, in about a month I will be able to find out how their operations are. I definatly like the idea of new rides being added, but I still am curious as to how it will be operated since I havn't heard of any of the other formerly owned Six Flags parks being ran too well, especially Darien Lake. But them again, that could just be that park. I am hopeful though that Wild Waves can be improved, and if they come through with what they are saying they are going to do, then it should be a nice park!
  3. No kidding about the prices being scary, OUCH!! You had some cool pictures that other people don't have with their reports, definatly a good first time report!
  4. If I remember correctly, The front sections (Scotland, England and Italy) are open when the park opens, then at 11, the rest open up. I could be wrong about that, but if it is the case you could go to Loch Ness, then Apollo's Chariot, then Big Bad Wolf, then Alpengiest, then Griffon.
  5. You definatly have some of the best pictures of maverick, I love the one you took of it turning into the second part of the horseshoe. Raptor is my favorite coaster, and I am glad that you also enjoyed it. What were some of the credits you didn't get just out of curiousity? You also had some good pictures for GL and Waldameer as well.
  6. I agree with a lot of others here in that if a long line is constantly moving, I don't mind waiting for a while. The one thing that really bugged me at the TPR meet at SFA was that while waiting for Superman both times we rode, we waited for about 20-30 minutes while just inside the station. Whereas at BGE the past two weekends, I was in line for Griffon, each time about 45 minutes to an hour, and had no problem because it was always moving (that and there was a lot more to look at while in line for Griffon. Line Jumping is another thing that can make a wait even worse.
  7. I wish I could have a better idea of which is the best six flags, but considering I have only been to Six Flags America and Six Flags Great Adventure. SFGAdv is much better in my opinion with El Toro and Nitro as well as others, but I still like SFA for it has two great woodies, and Superman is always good for some air.
  8. I love the front row! although if I have been waiting a while I would go for the back, but if it was about 5-15 minutes to get into the station, I'll go for the front. Like others have said, you can either stick your head forward (which I have usually done), or brace it against the back.
  9. Looking Good, so when are they planning to have it ready to open?
  10. I think the issue is that Disney wants the area to appear a little more "upbeat" and safe. I could see a family of 4 having just flown in and as they are driving to the resort, they may pass by the housing, and if it is not kept up well and the people are a little shady, then it may make that family feel unsafe. Of course this is assuming that once the housing is built that it would get run down by the people who live there. It is possible though too that the people who would live there were for the most part Disneyland employees, and may take care of the place, therefore may not have the negative effect that Disney is afraid of.
  11. sounds like a good move for Six Flags, if anything, this should increase their revenue, which may help in their quest to lower their debt.
  12. Great TR you have there!! Griffon is a great ride, I thought it was worth the wait. So you guys were there at Busch Gardens this past sunday? I was there with Melissa on Sunday and never spotted any of you guys, but then agian it was pretty crowded at the park sunday. but we still had a good day!
  13. I have only been to BGE, but I am definatly a fan of the place. I think all of their coasters are great, and I could easily re-ride any of them. There are many parks that have a coaster or two that I would ride once and be fine with it, but the coasters here are all coasters I would get a second ride on if I can. The theming is great and they also have good shows. I really hope that I have a chance to visit BGA soon, because Montu, Sheikra, Kumba and the others look like fun coasters.
  14. I agree, something original would be better than a clone. But from the looks of it, it isn't a bad park. I think the place is just getting on it's feet. It may take a few years but I imagine that this place could be made into something people will really like! It is much nicer to see a park opening, even if it is not quite finished, than it is to see a park get closed.
  15. From what I saw, the closest to that happening would be that one train would be at or near the top of the lift while the slash would happen. More often though, the other train would be about mid-way up
  16. In this situation I sometimes politely ask if I can have a specific row. The ops usually go for it in my experience. I did just that and got a front row seat for my first ride on it. I joked with the op asking if she would let me go to row 1 if I gave her $20, she told me someone offered her $600 for one! Some people just go overboard with it, but I told her I understood she had to do what she had to do, and the next thing I know, she says "You can go ahead to row 1!" Sometimes just asking and being nice can go a long way
  17. I would just let a few people on before you to get an end after you have been assigned your row. But I think if you are in one of the other two rows besides the front, it may not really matter
  18. The billboard is a digital billboard, it flashes multiple adds, and the camera may be either for whoever owns the billboard to monitor it, or maybe a projector? I think the first is more likely. Thanks to everyone for the compliments, I never used to be big into taking pictures until I saw some of the PTR's here and I thought I would give it a try with my trip to the State Fair last fall. As I do these more and more, I have realized two things. 1) It is a great way to bring back some memories, and 2) I really like taking pictures. I don't know if I would ever pursure photography like some people do, but I find that I do really enjoy taking time to get a better picture rather than just taking a picture quick and moving on.
  19. Yeah Chuck, what the hell were you doing in Carlotte? GRIFFON WAS OPEN! Just picking on you, it is nice to be able to see old friends. Besides, I am sure that you will get plenty of Griffon rides in to make up for it. Nice pictures too, btw
  20. Definatly agree that they need to make the ends connect so that you don't have the dead ends. I don't remember what Cedar Point charges for lockers at TTD or MF, but BGE has lockers at all of their coasters, and itt is also one time use, but it is a buck instead of two. I really like Roar, but I could see how others may not be as big if a fan.
  21. Other than your usual stack because of a guest taking longer, only Alpengeist had issues with stacking. Griffon had six ride attendents and were getting trains out quick. Loch Ness also was doing well at getting trains out. No seatbelts equals quicker times that trains get sent out. (Hey Cedar Fair!) I am not sure why Alpengeist had issues with stacking, but it wasn't a terrible wait.
  22. Most of the rides we went on besides the train and skyride had full queues, but only Alpengeist and DarKastle were close to an hour wait. Griffon was about 45-50 minutes, even with the overflow since they were bookin' on getting those trains out.
  23. As someone said before, one of the best times to ride is at night, most of the line is gone by then so you won't wait so long. If the trims are on, you get some fun hangtime in the loop and dive loop since it goes through it lower. They took the third train off after they added the seat belts. Interval was impossible with three trains because of them, so they took it off as a spare.
  24. Definatly one of the best collections of Griffon Pictures I have seen. I wish I took as good of pictures as you did. So how many rides did you end up getting on?
  25. Shockwave is nowhere near my favorite, but I would still ride it agian. Mantis is a bit rough, but it is more fun than Shockwave Vortex at Carowinds is probably my favorite stand-up coaster
