  1. I would have to agree that Cedar Point really isn't the best park because of what they lack. I say this even though it is my favorite park simply because there are things they could definatly do better. Comparing it to my next favorite park, Busch Gardens Europe: - They don't have any dark rides while BGE has DarKastle and Corkscrew Hill - The food at Busch is miles and miles better than the food at CP and a better value - Better shows at BGE (Which could appeal to those who maybe don't want to or can't go on coasters like Millennium Force or Maverick). - Many rides at BGE have sufficent shade for their lines (Apollo and Big Bad Wolf come to mind as their entire regular queues are completly covered). So for the most part, I would say that BGE is a better park, and that isn't even looking into the aspect of theming, landscaping, or overuse of trash cans. I also think that Griffon was a better ride than Maverick, but I have had 4 great rides on Griffon and only 1 so-so ride on Maverick because the restraint kept bashing my neck. Maybe when I get another chance to ride Maverick I will change my mind, but as it stands right now, I was dissapointed with Maverick, and Griffon was AWESOME! Edit: Both parks don't have a fastpass or q-bot system, which I along with others here do not care for, but that is also something I have never used before, so maybe I would change my mind on that as well
  2. It is always sad when people pass away young. It never seems right. I wish for the best for his family, and hope that he will rest in peace.
  3. I wasn't saying that Kings Dominion has a bad collection of coasters, I just think they need another standout coaster. I really hope this isn't true about Dominator though. My misunderstanding, I got what you mean now, and you are right, volcano is probably the only stand-out coaster at KD right now.
  4. If you ask me, I would say that Kings Dominion already has a good collection of coasters. I will agree that Volcano is the best one there right now, but I wouldn't say that it is the only one worth riding. The only one that I really don't care for anymore is HyperSonic, since the launch is really the only good part, after that your head turns into a pinball. Dominator may be the second best coaster at Kings Dominion, but I would say that Flight of Fear would be up there with it. I even really like Anaconda, and would be sad to see it go, but I see that there are others who disagree with me. Either way I may be making my first coaster trip of 2008 to Kings Dominion if Dominator is open then.
  5. I have to admit that the slightly greedy side of me is a bit bummed that Zippin Pippin isn't being moved to Carolina Crossroads since I would only have to drive an hour-hour and a half to ride it, but I definatly hope that somehow it is reopened.
  6. Anyone else here already starting to have the trains grow on you? I will admit that I didn't care for them at first, but they are starting to grow on me a bit. I am sure that it will be a fine ride. The name is starting to sound a bit better to me now too.
  7. You know, come to think of it, there was one thing from that forum on Geauga Lake Today that could actually make sence if it is truly the plan. Someone on there mentioned that the height restrictions on Dominator and Thunderhawk are both 52+ in. (I think Dominator is 54). You figure that once those two are taken out, the tallest height restriction is probably the basic 48 in. They also mentioned that if they add something like a spinning mouse coaster with a 42-48 in. height restriction, that it could be seen as more family friendly, which I would agree that it would be more inclusive to the family, since more kids can ride rides with lower height restrictions. Maybe this is a possibility?
  8. As someone who goes to Kings Dominion fairly regularly, I would have to say that it would be awesome if they would get another major coaster like Dominator. The only bummer is that I already have the credit. As for MIA getting Thunderhawk, while I wish they could get something better, Thunderhawk is actually not a bad SLC. On the business side of things, this could be a great addition for the park since many people that are not enthusiasts may love it. I think that if this is in fact the plan, they should put it along where the rumored back walkway is going, to make for a new major ride to go along with the new path. This could be great for the two parks getting the coasters, but I can't help but feel this may be one of the final nails in the coffin for the ride side of Geauga Lake. Granted they would still have 6 coasters (Big Dipper, Head Spin, Raging Wolf Bobs, Beaver Land Mine Train, Double Loop and Villain), but these coasters don't seem to be the more popular ones based on the two times I went and what others have shown here. That and while people said they thought the front looks empty without X-Flight and Steel Venom, I would guess that the area where Thunderhawk and Dominator are now would look just as empty.
  9. The name is a little unimaginative, and I am a little unsure of the trains, but if they go with the 16 rows by 2 riders for the gates, it may work out better. If they go with the 8 rows by 4 riders, then groups of 3 or 4 or single riders won't be too bad, but I think a lot of pairs would take the two seats at the front of the car leaving the other two empty since the next pair may want to ride in the same fashion, but I have yet to ride it, and cannot say that is what will happen. As for the layout, I love it! Some of the best coasters are mostly strait with connsecutive hills. If anything, the first drop should be awesome with the longer train and the first hill after the lift should have some sweet air. My two B&M Hyper experiences (Apollo and Nitro) were both great, so this could also turnout to be a great ride.
  10. This TR is great for some laughs. I dunno where to start on the great humor of it all. Something tells me you may be a trend setter here.
  11. I agree that the pictures are quite nice. I am hoping to get down there next year when it opens. I just hope this place doesn't pull a Wild West World I know the layout of Led Zepplin the Ride looks rather basic, but who knows, maybe it will still make for a good ride!
  12. "Congratulations, your dead body is worth $4390! Doesn't that make you feel great?" If someone actually paid that much for me being dead, i think they would have gotten screwed over!
  13. ^ I was gonna say, how likley is it that somebody is going to go to Florida for something besides Disney, than decide "Well, I am gonna go to one of the Disney World Parks." Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that is doesn't happen since I agree that it is possible, but I don't think it is likly.
  14. I think the only way they will compete to get decent employees is to offer better pay and incentives as were mentioned before. But that would probably mean that prices for visitors would go up into space since parks want to keeps there profits at the same level.
  15. I remember watching the McGwire/Sosa season going after Marris and that was a lot of fun to follow. I even saw McGwire break it on TV, but since Bonds broke it about 4-5 years later it just isn't as big of a deal. I was much more impressed when Ichiro of the Mariners broke George Sisler's single season Hits record that was over 80 years old. I will also be much more impressed if anyone can break Pete Rose's career hits record. If Bonds didn't actually do it (which I believe he did) then the negative outlook that has been placed on him was done by his own personality of being a prick. He has this whole attitude of "I am so f***ing great, and you all can kiss my a**" While others like Ripkin and Gwynn never carried that kind of attitude. Even Derek Jeter, who I personally can't stand and think is overrated (but that is just me in denial since he is a good player) has a much greater respect for the game.
  16. The night when Melissa and I were at Cedar Point the day after our wedding. When was that last time you talked to someone else's grandma?
  17. Here are mine: MLB: Seattle Mariners NHL: Carolina Hurricanes NFL: Seattle Seahawks College Basketball: Gonzaga
  18. I think you are going to find that with the exception of Florida, Southern California and Wild Adventures in Valdosta, GA (Really close to the GA/FL Boarder), Every theme/amusement park is open from no sooner than March to no later than the first weekend of November. Some park will have Christmas events, but the rides that are open are usually pretty limited. I know that Dollywood stays open until about new years eve, but if the Temperature drops to below 40 F, then the coasters and probably a good number of rides close down.
  19. Dark Measures^ I will definatly keep those two places in mind. It would be awesome to see all the different games and systems they have there. Jten^ Thanks, We try very hard to be
  20. That's a bummer. While this was never one of my favorite coasters, I thought it was a really fun ride. Maybe they will do like you are hoping for Wes and move it to another CF park. I wonder if they would move it to a seperate gate waterpark like Soak City or Oceans of Fun? Geauga Lake could really use it too though, as it would really help the "Family Park" image they are trying to reach.
  21. Going to Busch Gardens Europe on the 19th with Melissa, My brother Kellen his girlfriend Carrie, my sisters Katie and Alysa, and their boyfriends Brandon and Brandon. Can't wait to get another sweet ride on Griffon!!!!
  22. Gotta love hanging out with fellow cedar point employees after work. One of the unwritten perks of working there. Great update Robb. Makes we wonder if you should do on bus interviews with Jahan in between parks.
  23. Chuck, I bow before you as a humble member of this website to the awesomness that is your trip reports! A crowd pleaser as always.
  24. Great pics you have here!!!! Makes me wish Melissa and I would have done a little more of the regular rides. I remember seeing the Rock on our way to the park. How much would you recommend it?
  25. Wes^ Yep, I was born and raised in Seattle until I was 8. Then we moved across the Pudget Sound to Bremerton and lived there until I was 14. I have been here in Greenville now since I was in high school. And as I have said before, this is a great place to visit, even if it is not exactly a coaster haven, there are plenty of other things to do. But it is still worth a visit to the Seattle Center and Wild Waves. Dark Measures^^ You know, in all the time I lived in the Northwest I have never heard of either place. Have they been around for a while or are they relativly new?
