  1. Not to mention that a U-Haul truck isn't very gas efficient, somewhere in the 8-10 mpg range or so i think? It wouldn't really be worth it in that case since the plan seems to cover a couple hundred miles worth of driving.
  2. Personally, I am just ready to check out the ride in it's new home, if they have a few blots on the rails, I am not going to ride it and think "Ahhhhhh.....wait, there's a paint blob.........AHHHHHHH!!"
  3. I think most rental companies in the U.S. will only rent to people at least 21 years of age, and a fee is added per day for those aged 21-24. I think Michigan and New York are the only two states where 18 and up is allowed for car rentals with an additional fifty-somthing dollars per day fee added, but I could be wrong.
  4. So was it really less then 1 U.S. dollar to get in? that's a steal! (Granted the travel costs would negate that but heck, that would make going there nothing if you happen to be visiting Guatemala.)
  5. Not if John McCain has anything to do with it. One of the many reasons that who ever is nominated by the democratic party will be reciving my vote. (I'm sorry, but I don't not feel that this country needs a third-term for Bush) I don't know that it is fair to generalize the whole region as a dangerous area. Sure there is a lot of fighting going on, but look at the circumstances right now, there is a very unpopular military force that carried out the destruction of many people's homes. Don't you think that the same kind of thing could happen anywhere else with the same senario? I would be surprised of people felt that Bahgdad was just as dangerous before the U.S. Military was sent to destroy the place as it is now.
  6. I already know who their mascot could be.......... Achmed, The Dead Terrorist!!!!!
  7. If I were to do a coaster, I'd say Raptor, since that is where my joy for riding started, but if I were to go for one thing I had never done before, it would be Sky Diving.
  8. Somehow I just think it is going to be one of those really cool things that looks awesome that won't really catch on. Believe me, I would love to see it happen, but based on what everyone has been saying about the performance of the park before Katrina, and the fact that the city is probably nowhere near where it was for tourism, I can't see this going far.
  9. You know Robb, I have wondered about that very same thing. It seems like you can find just about any coaster's video on you tube. Heck, I found a video for the Tree Top coaster up at Upper Clements Park in NE Canada.
  10. I do not necessarily believe that the train would be torn up if it is the funnel as opposed to water cannons. If that were the case, then wouldn't they use water cannons instead on Shiekra and Griffon? I believe that the funnels (supposing that is what they are going to use) will be curved at an angle that will make it so the water sprays onto on-lookers. Either way, this is definatly making me realize that not having gone to Sea World yet has been happening for some reason!
  11. Great Pictures of Kings Dominion! Are you still planning on visiting agian the weekend after Dominator opens up or is it going to be later on since you did the park this weekend? -Gary
  12. I don't know that prices went up significantly enough for it to be the only reason revenue went up, but I would think it was possibly a factor. The main thing here is that it is a great step for the company going in the right direction. I am hoping for the best for the company!
  13. Id say Saturday-Tuesday. You may want to avoid friday as one of the days since it may get busier, and if it were possible I would say avoid Saturday, but I am guessing that may not be an option. In early may, Monday and Tuesday could very well be walk-on for many of the rides!
  14. The Myrtle Beach Pavilion had a Sally dark ride themed to Pirates, and I think these are about the same level of "quality". Perhaps they could be from that ride?
  15. I havn't been to SFMM, but from the looks of it, I would definatly say that it looks like the two parks are going in opposite directions. My own recent experiences from working there in 2004 and 2005, I saw that there was a different attitude of people that worked there. The amount of staffing was lower as well, so there were a lot of longer shifts. I think it was mentioned before about the increase of international employees, which I noticed too between the two years I worked there. During our visit in July last summer, I noticed that there were hardly any sweeps around the park, and that there was a lot of trash sitting here and there, where as from others' reports, SFMM is improving in this aspect. While I would never be one to turn down a day at Cedar Point (Raptor is my favorite coaster after all), I can say that it isn't what it used to be.
  16. Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and George Bush are in a helicopter seeing the damages of the floods after Katrina. Karl Rove says "Those fools, they all want the federal government to fix all of their problems. They should seek help from private companies, in fact...." Just then he pulls out his wallet, grabs a 10 thousand dollar bill, and says " I am gonna throw this out the window and make someone really happy! Well, not wanting to be out done, Dick Cheney pulls his wallet out, and takes out 10 one thousand dollar bills, and says "I am gonna throw these out the window, and make 10 people really happy! George Bush doesn't want to be left out, so he pulls out a hundred dollar bill, and says "When I break this, I am gonna throw it out the window and make a hundred people happy!" As the three men are doing this, the helicopter pilot says to himself, "Idiots, I could throw all three of them out and make 300 million people happy!"
  17. Like Jeff said, it is normal for them to operate with half of the seats empty when the crowds are light. I suppose it is to balance out the gondola.
  18. Fair enough! I'll keep a look out for Dominator's opening day and try to cordinate a day off with the weekend after then. Hope to see you then! -Gary
  19. They have a clone of the Hurricane at the Fun Forest in Seattle called Windstorm. The ride isn't that bad EXCEPT for the sudden turn of doom midway through the ride. Poor Melissa got a little banged up for the safety bar after that turn. So Mike, I take it that many of your weekend trips are decided on that same week? I may have trouble getting out of work when you make your stop at Kings Dominon if that is the case, but if you know about when you are going to Kings Dominion midway through the week before then I shouldn't have any problems. I don't mean to sound as if I am telling you how to plan your trips, this is just for me being able to tag along the greatness that is the Big Mike Road Show!
  20. Personally, I loved the Bond film at Kings Dominion. I also liked Spoungebob, but the Hanna-Barberra one wasn't as good. I wanted to check of the Wilderness Film while we were at Dollywood in December, but we never got around to it.
  21. I had one a few weeks back where Busch Gardens Europe had relocated to and replaced the neighborhood next to the Food Lion I worked at here in Greenville. Too much wishful thinking I suppose.
  22. I definatly agree that a resort is a great move for DW. I was kind of surprised they hadn't done it already, especially as popular as the place has become. As far as the terrain goes, it hasn't stopped them yet, just look at Tennessee Tornado, it fits the terrain pretty well if you ask me. I would love to see an mini-hyper like the one in Japan, One that follows the terrain with a lot of butt-happy ejector airtime would be a blast!
  23. ^As a Hurricanes fan, I have to even say that the Caps deserve the division title. The Canes just played like crap when it came to the last few games. And they had such a great start too Oh well, the playoffs ought to be interesting.
  24. ^I'm surprised Six Flags hadn't thought of that yet! It would greatly enhance their family friendly image!!!!! I can honestly see why regulations are set for such a thing as restricted entrance. Take a place like Jeepers, where they have things that mostly appeal to kids. Other that coaster fans and enthusiasts, I don't know that there are really that many people who would go to a place like that just so they can ride the coaster and say they did it. If someone without kids is sticking around the place but not doing anything, it can make a lot of parents uneasy.
  25. That's cool, enjoy carowinds while you are there, it is a fun park! I'm still planning to be at the Family Kingdom around 6 tomorrow night with a few other park related stops around town before that for some pictures. Anyone who is interested is more than welcome to tag along! Gary
