  1. I've always wanted to go to the Hollister corn fields, so hopefully I get to go this year. www.swankfarms.com/mazes.htm
  2. Invertigo is one of the smoothest Vekoma's I've ever been on. Kong and Boomerang at SFDK were 10x worse. Boomerang at Knott's was also really bad. Deja Vu at SFMM was actually really smooth when I went this summer.
  3. ^And most of the time at CGA, as soon as the train parks, the air-gates open to let guests on without letting everyone exit first. It definitely speeds up loading times.
  4. ^That also happened at CGA. There are new warning signs on all the big coasters and even on Survivor. It's not like a sign is going to prevent someone from hopping over it, but it can help prevent the guest from starting a giant law suit saying there weren't any signs.
  5. I start Sept. 2nd as well for my first year of college. My Classes: Global Business Effective Writing Elementary Algebra Speed and Critical Reading
  6. Survivor at CGA. Vortex at CGA comes in at a close second.
  7. I got kind of lazy about writing a TR, but here it goes. When it comes to talking about the ride experiences, I'm going to describe and rate how well the crews did, the wait times, and any other miscellaneous things. The order of the rides is the order we went on them. I went to the park on 8/1/08 which was a Friday. I've never been to the park on a Friday, so I didn't know how busy it was going to be. It was actually more empty than when I had gone on Monday the previous week. So I already knew that the park opened at 10:30, so we got to the gates around 10:15 and waited while they did that corny opening show. As soon as the gates opened, my cousin, brother, sister, and I hauled ass to X2. X2: Since we got there at park opening, we only waited about 20 minutes for it. The crew was actually doing a great job. They dispatched a few trains before the other train even reached the brakes. Not much else to say considering this is the best ride ever. Crew - 8/10 Ride - 10/10 Tatsu: Just like sixflagsjunkie88 mentioned, this is the absolute worst crew in the park. Not even one of the switchbacks entirely filled and the line was a good 30-40 minutes. What kind of had me baffled is how an operator was texting and a manager walked by and didn't say anything. Anyways, the ride is still awesome and that pretzel loop gets me every time. I honestly still prefer Vekoma flyers. Crew - 3/10 Ride - 8/10 Ninja: For some reason, I just really like this ride. It's in my top 5 of the park. I just like the location, layout, just overall a good ride. The ride was a walk-on. The crew was average and didn't really stand out. Hiyah! Crew - 7/10 Ride - 7/10 Superman: Great ride, but what is up with rehab and only running one side in the middle of the summer?! We only waited 4 cars so it wasn't bad at all. And can't complain about the AC. My only other complaint is when the crew would wait until people are going down the stairs to open the air gates. Crew - 6/10 Ride - 8/10 Scream: Being built in a parking lot could matter any less to me. Great ride and I got some good hang time in that loop. Kind of rough for a B&M only built 5 years ago, but nothing bad. The line for this was also a walk-on. This is probably the second worst crew in the park. Granted this was a walk-on, the other train was just sitting in the brakes for a good 30 seconds before the train in the station was going to be dispatched. Crew - 5/10 Ride - 9/10 Colossus: Great wooden coaster and the park definitely needs another one. Only running one side, but I'm not surprised. Solid the entire ride with a little bit of airtime. Only waited about 10 minutes. Crew - 7/10 Ride - 8/10 Riddler's Revenge: Another one of the best coasters in the park. We waited about 45 minutes and it was worth the wait. Great variety of elements and not one rough spot the entire ride. My only complaint is the crew. Even though stand-up coasters have longer than normal load times, with a ride this long, they have plenty of time to dispatch the train before it gets to the brakes. Crew - 6/10 Ride - 9/10 Goldrusher: I remember going on this last year and not being so rough. It was one of three coasters during this trip that were unbearable to ride, Viper and Revolution being the other two. I got shuffled around so much in my seats it was ridiculous. But they did have a great crew. The ride was a one train wait. Crew - 9/10 Ride - 4/10 Deja Vu: The second best coaster at the park with the second best coaster crew. We waited 1 hour and it's worth the wait every time. Just like X2, not much else to say, solid ride. IMO, it wasn't even rough at all. Crew - 9/10 Ride - 10/10 Revolution: This ride maybe a classic, but those OTSR killed it big time. It's not that the ride was rough, but every time the ride turns, my ears got a good smackin'. We only waited 2 trains. Crew - 7/10 Ride - 4/10 Viper: This is by far the most painful ride in the park. I don't know what's up with those ridiculous OTSR, because the arrow coaster, Demon, at my home park of CGA, is comfortable. The worst part were those damn corkscrews. My shoulders got some painful burns after this ride. To kind of balance it out though, the crew was pretty fast. This was a walk on. Crew - 8/10 Ride - 4/10 because of roughness. Goliath: This is definitely the best crew in the park. They were dispatching trains really fast. I just wanted to see what they could do with 3 trains. One of the signs said the approximate wait time was 60 minutes, and we were on the ride in under 30 minutes, no joke! They really deserver some recognition. The ride itself is great, but not really my cup of tea. Crew: 11/10 Ride: 8/10 The only coaster we didn't ride was Batman because it had a ridiculous wait time and I find Flight Deck at CGA a lot better than this. Overall it was a great day at the park and the ride experiences that stood out the most to me was X2, Goliath, Deja Vu, and Ninja.
  8. I went to Knott's a couple of weeks ago, and I finished the entire park in 2 1/2 hours. Once we were done, we just stayed at Xcelerator all night. IMO, the only good rides at Knott's are Xcelerator, Sierra Sidewinder and maybe Montezooma's and Ghostrider. I didn't like Pony Express or Silver Bullet.
  9. Actually I do think that CF is more committed to the park than Paramount was. They just added Firefall, not just a flat ride, but a heavily themed flat ride. I highly doubt that if they did not care about the park they would put in something like Firefall. Plus, they are actually trying to get the coaster in, it's not like GL where they didn't have any additions except water park and cheaply placed flats. Introducing the Halloween Haunt and the ice show this year also helps me to believe that CF values this park. Attendance (in the days that I've been) has been up, especially compared to these past years. I have a hard time thinking that CF would sell the park. Agreed. Plus, the extended park hours, the expensive new sign by highway 101, and I have been seeing a buttload of CGA commercials, sometimes one right after the other. These commercials seem to be on a lot more frequently than the SFDK ads. If I were to guess, I would say you'd see 3-4 CGA ads before seeing one ad for SFDK. I really believe CF wants to keep this park and expand it when the 49er deal falls through. I do remember from one of the articles CF said they had 'future expansion plans' for CGA. That big electronic sign on 101 was there when the park was still Paramount's.
  10. If only you were going to be up in NorCal to hit up CGA's brand new Haunt.
  11. The Rotten Robbie down the street from my house is $4.47 for regular. The Valero not too far away is $4.63 for regular. It's also funny reading posts from when this forum first started when people were freakin' out when gas was approaching $3.00 a gallon. Those were the days.
  12. Kong - SFDK Boomerang - SFDK Giant Dipper - SCBB (I was hoping this day would never come, but I finally experienced a really rough ride that actually left me with a big headache the whole day.) Grizzly - CGA Demon - CGA
  13. Can anyone say Flight Deck at CGA round 2. Those gates are clearly marked saying things like "Keep Out" and "This Restricted Area Requires A Lock-Out". Some people just don't learn.
  14. At California's Great America, parking is $10, preferred parking is $15. And a Powerade is $3.50. That's still expensive, but $1 less is quite a bit. Great TR by the way. Some of Six Flags prices and policies need be thought over and redone. And with gas prices SO high, high parking prices on top of gas is not the way to attract guests.
  15. Um, those are actually not in California just in case you didn't know. It doesn't take much to read the title. Anyways... Best Steel: X (Haven't been on X2 yet) Worst Steel: Kong Best Wood: Giant Dipper (SCBB) Worst Wood: Grizzly
  16. It is definitely an inversion. If my legs are above my head, then it's an inversion.
  17. Did you guys ride The Orbit, or get any pictures of it?
  18. Here is a video that was just posted on youtube of it cycling. The video unfortunately shows one of the few, rare cycles where it only flips once due do the weight. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QunciigTz2w
  19. How about a change a pace. Who's excited for Haunt?! I am!
  20. Wow, let's try to me just a little bit more damn racist next time. Sorry, but what you just said is messed up.
  21. ^ Well said. Now I can only go by pictures, but when I see photo trip reports of different Cedar Fair parks, personally, I think CGA along with all of the former Paramount parks look the best. And this is probably a little biased because it's my home park, but CGA has one of the nicest entrances to a park that I have ever seen. And going by another thread, SFA seems to be at the top of the worst parks, not CGA.
  22. CGA is a great park. You just have to go there knowing there's not going to be a any record breaking rides, but just an overall great amusement park atmosphere. Obviously Cedar Fair sees something in the park because it has the second longest operating season this year, first being Knott's. And they announced what's coming to the park in 2009, which parks rarely ever do. And just this past Saturday, the park was absolutely packed! The entire overflow for Vortex was filled, Flight Deck's line was spilling out into the midway, and some of the flats that never see lines, saw big ones that day. Paramounts royally screwed CGA over, and now Cedar Fair has to pick up the pieces. I can bet anyone that if Paramounts was still the owner, The Orbit would be gone, park hours would be shorter, and they still wouldn't want a new coaster.
  23. I actually have thought about that before. At Vortex at CGA, we will not dispatch the train until everyone is standing up straight. I remember when I went to SFMM on Riddlers, people were in whatever position they wanted to be in and the train was dispatched. Also at SFMW, before it was SFDK, a ride op at Medusa was just munching away on her french fries not even paying attention to dispatch the train.
  24. Ok, first off, it's Invertigo, not Vertigo. Second, just like mentioned, it's only the second full year that Cedar Fair has control. A lot more damage was done when Paramount was there. True they don't have the most amazing roller coasters ever, but it is still a really fun park. And you also have to realize that there is not much room left for park expansion. They are completely landlocked. Just give CF a little longer and CGA will definitely be better .
  25. Looks like FireFall will finally open this Saturday according to the LA Times. travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/?p=1865
