Phrases or Things that make you Cringe!
CoastersNSich replied to CoastersNSich's topic in Random, Random, Random
When people say Geauga Lake is going to become just a water park, or close down altogether. Yeah, the place has lost its record crowds, but lots of people are still coming, and riding the coasters!! -

Going to Kings Island yesterday, and seeing all the water slides in Boomerang Bay open and staffed. After that, having enough time to get on the train after changing my clothes. When I made it to the main park, I notice the Racer is... racing! Adventure Express is running all three trains.

Something tells me this is why Dell sells so many computers so often... Why try to remove the problem or fix it, when you can just buy something that's advertised as faster and better, and for cheap. And another thing to rant on: Cop killers. I know some words to describe these people, but I won't repeat them. I'm also not fond of rappers and record companies that glorify this (expletive). I saw America's Most Wanted, where they showed a segment about two cops in Charlotte that were shot in the head. Some people would say "that's part of the risk of the job." That's no excuse.

- A local Cincinnati TV station has a story with footage of Firehawk from today. Before the footage, they show the OLD PKI logo used 1993-2002. That should piss off two companies: 1) Cedar Fair, for not using the correct new logo; and 2) Paramount for using their logo on a property they no longer own. I'm still seeing the Paramount logo being used to promote the place by third-party groups... aarrgghh. - What's wrong with showing butt cheeks/ass cracks on TV? Yes, I understanding censoring frontal nudity... I also don't get when they censor "damn" and "ass" on some programs. - Gas stations that do "cheap gas" promotions. Yes, no better way to save money by getting people to drive across town, and then idle and sit there to fill-up on gas, when they could have gone to the nearby regular priced station and not done the excess driving and waiting. These promotions make as much sense (to me) as $1 beer nights and $300 laptops.

Other Amusement Rides That Should Be Turned Into Movies
CoastersNSich replied to MNdude's topic in Random, Random, Random
How about the Monorail? Yes, Conan O'Brien wrote "Marge vs. the Monorail" for The Simpsons, but it didn't have anything to do with Disney or another park's ride. -
Theme Park Review saved my reputation
CoastersNSich replied to RBOrrell's topic in Random, Random, Random
I went to a Carrabba's, not far from Kings Island once. I thought the food and service was great (though the place seemed empty at the time.) However, for some reason, my friends and family won't go there because they think it's too expensive. However, I can't wait to come back. -
McDonald's wins it for me, because of their breakfast, locations, and quick service. Burger King has merit, though, because of their flame-broiled Whoppers and fish sandwiches.

I know that Elissa's maiden name is White, but looking at some of the photos, you'd swear it was Focker! -
Pay off all debts and student loans. Pay for graduate school (yes, I still want to be an architect!). Go to NYC. Disney World. And many of the parks I have missed. Buy season tickets to the Colts. Switch to HDTVs and get my whole family Mac computers. Buy a summer home in Sandusky, OH. Buy some new (yet modest cars) - I don't care to LOOK rich....

Shirt - Albert Pujols Cardinals T-shirt. Mmm... poo-holes... Shorts - some cheap mesh shorts I bought at KI's water park in '04

Most Overrated coaster?
CoastersNSich replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Millennium Force - too popular, other CP coasters have better air Flight of Fear - slow loading times, and I'm not that much into the dark thing. Thunder Run - other than good airtime, it's rough and takes forever to load. Grizzly (KD) - not bad, but it wasn't as fun as they hyped it to be Raven - somewhat. Nice airtime, but sometimes you have to be in the right seat, and it is a bit short... The Beast - not really overrated as it once was. I must add though that it was never really built for airtime. -
Underrated Coasters?
CoastersNSich replied to Yero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ones that I like more than other people: Cedar Point: Gemini: This is my favorite coaster there! The racing, the airtime, and the fun with friends!! Blue Streak: For an older wood coaster at a corporate park, this one is amazingly smooth and with wonderful pops of air!! Dissster Transport: Yes, it's corny, and lame to many! But it's a fun bobsled coaster. Too bad it's not a capacity machine... Kings Island: Adventure Express Kings Dominion Anaconda Avalanche Rebel Yell more to come... -
Overrated Parks
CoastersNSich replied to What Now's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hersheypark - I have never seen a park that was so anal when it comes to rain, or in some ways, operations. It started off that Great Bear was running only one train, along with other coasters - on a Saturday! I didn't get to ride Storm Runner (yes, I understand the rain thing on this one), nor the Monorail (d'oh!), but did do the GIANT Wheel (in 2004, final season). Yes, it's nice that they have rainchecks, but the fact that I live in Cincinnati didn't really allow me to return. Yes, it might have been my first ever trip there, and had it not been raining everywhere, I would have enjoyed it more. - Kings Island: It would have been on top if it weren't my home park. However, Paramount did a good job doing this park in, and Cedar Fair has some work to do. Getting rid of the flying eagles didn't help, as well as lax aesthetic maintenance/cleaning. Cedar Point, as a park, I think is rated rightly. However, Millennium Force is either overrated or too popular. It does have neat floater airtime and is ultra-smooth, but if I'm looking for more "fun," and greater air, it's on another coaster at this park. And I prefer Magnum and Gemini for that negative-g experience- more of it with less wait and hassle. I'll agree with some about Blue Streak and Disaster Transport being underrated. The only thing I really don't like about DT is the capacity, especially when compared to other CP rides. -

I'm in "agreeance" with that. Do they talk like that in the Boost Mobile boardroom? A parody of U2's "One" at a Bank of America cringe-fest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmIObmv2t6M -

How about being around people on coasters who feel the need to interchange and use the S-bomb and F-bomb every few seconds. Or for that matter... "OMG We're gonna die!!" -
Edd Kalehoff, composer of news and game show themes, including music for The Price Is Right, shown here playing the Moog synthesizer for Schaefer beer in 1973: http://youtube.com/watch?v=evzxlip_M4I I saw this on the Moog movie, and being a fan of game shows and Moogs, it's addictive!

Nation's Rudest Drivers: Miami Retains Title

I'm not surprised that some of the biggest cities were placed highest on the list. No wonder I loved using the CTA so much in Chicago in January. But I'm a bit surprised that Columbus didn't make the list. Seems if you don't go 15-20 mph over the limit on Rt. 315 (the highway from I-70 to I-270 and going past OSU) you'll get run off.
